Bernie Moreno, a staunch Trump ally, is emerging as the leading candidate for the Republican nomination to face Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) in what will be one of the most closely-watched Senate races this year. Moreno started off the primary with low name recognition and trailed his other GOP rivals in most early polls. But a coveted endorsement from the former president, as well as from other leading Republican figures, has elevated him over his chief rivals, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose and state Sen. Matt Dolan. In a sign of his growing strength in the primary, Brown has...

Rita Moreno says people who criticize President Biden’s octogenarian status “don’t understand anything about old age.” The legendary “West Side Story” actor, who turned 92 last week, opened up to ITK when asked recently whether she considers Biden’s age an issue in the 2024 presidential race. Eighty-one-year-old Biden is the oldest president to be elected to the White House. “I think people are mistaking something of President Biden,” Moreno said. “I think that because he walks like an elderly person — which he does — they don’t think this is working,” Moreno said, pointing to her head. “They don’t understand...

Businessman and conservative outsider Bernie Moreno launched his U.S. Senate campaign for Democrat Sen. Sherrod Brown’s (D-OH) seat on Tuesday, in addition to a multi-day statewide tour to speak with Ohio voters. “Over the past month, I have been humbled by the encouragement of thousands of voters, business leaders, and conservative activists throughout the state,” said Moreno in a statement. “One thing is clear: Ohioans are fed up with the broken policies of liberal career politicians like Joe Biden and Sherrod Brown.” “I’m a businessman, a conservative, and an outsider. I know I’m the leader who can get Ohio back...

Oscar-winner Rita Moreno humiliated herself on Twitter Wednesday with a groveling apology to the Woke Mob after she defended the box office flop In the Heights. When it tanked over its debut weekend — in some cases by as much as 80 percent below expectations — the knives came out for Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights. The film features many unknown black and Hispanic singers and dancers singing and dancing to songs no one’s heard of in a 145-minute movie with no plot. There are rumors it’s some sort of love story. But there’s no doubt the songs pushed woke...

Oval Office2:42 P.M. ESTPRESIDENT TRUMP: Well, thank you very much. It’s great to be with the President of Ecuador — and it’s one of the most beautiful countries in the world — and perhaps equally as important, and maybe even more importantly, your great First Lady. Thank you very much for being here. This is a tremendous honor. Some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world and one of the most beautiful places on Earth, they say. I’ve heard that for a long time. And we are working on trade deals, we’re working on military options, including the purchase of...

Large protests have triggered a state of emergency in Ecuador, after President LenÃn Moreno moved ahead with his plan to end fuel subsidies. Moreno says he's ending the "perverse" gasoline subsidy after 40 years because it was distorting Ecuador's economy."I want to manifest that the measures we take together are completely firm," Moreno said on Thursday, declaring a "state of exception" — essentially, a state of emergency — after intense protests flared up. Moreno added that there is no chance to change policies now, "especially those related to a perverse subsidy that was causing harm to the country."The fuel plan,...

Julian Assange’s belongings from his time living in the Ecuadorian embassy in London will be handed over to US prosecutors on Monday, according to WikiLeaks. Ecuadorian officials are travelling to London to allow US prosecutors to “help themselves” to items including legal papers, medical records and electronic equipment, it was claimed. WikiLeaks said UN officials and Assange’s lawyers were being stopped from being present. Lawyers said it was an illegal seizure of property, which has been requested by the US authorities. The material is said to include two of Assange’s manuscripts. Assange was dragged out of the embassy last month...

MORELOS, Mexico — A 13-year-old Mexican drug cartel hitman was found dead along with five other people. Univision reports that Jorge Armando Moreno’s body showed signs of torture when he was found near the town of Morelos. Moreno — who was a member of the Los Zetas gang — was arrested earlier this month, along with 15 other suspects, and confessed to taking part in 10 executions. He was released into his family’s custody because he was too young to be criminally prosecuted. Zacatecas state law says no one under the age of 14 can be subject to criminal prosecution....

Dan Cathy decided to make a PUBLIC statement to Mike Huckabee that, at the least, muddied the progress we had made with Chick-fil-A and, at the worst, contradicted the documents and promises Chick-fil-A made to me and the community earlier this month. Since Mr.Cathy made a PUBLIC statement, I am PUBLICLY asking him to confirm and support what I was told and shown by his company representatives. 1. For the FIRST TIME in the company’s history the company wrote and distributed a document to all of its employees titled, “Chick-fil-A: Who We Are” that guarantees that the company and its...

A Chicago alderman says Chick-fil-A's president is publicly contradicting what company executives personally assured him for months -- that the fast-food chain is changing its stance on gay marriage -- and he asked the company Sunday to clarify. Alderman Joe Moreno made news last week when he announced Chick-fil-A has ceased making donations to anti-gay groups and has enacted workplace protections for its employees against discrimination. Moreno said the two concessions were the result of 10 months of negotiations he had with Chick-fil-A executives as he weighed whether to support a new Chick-fil-A restaurant in his Chicago ward. He said...

Chicago alderman who made national headlines during the summer for opposing a Chick-fil-A in his increasingly trendy Northwest Side ward has reversed course, saying he will let the fast-food chain open a store in Logan Square. Ald. Proco "Joe" Moreno, 1st, said the restaurant has agreed to include a statement of respect for all sexual orientations in an internal document and promised that its not-for-profit arm would not contribute money to groups that oppose gay marriage. Though Moreno said he scored a "big win," the company made nearly identical pledges in a July 19 Facebook post that went up even...

Moreno tries to block restaurant that opposes gay marriage from opening in his Northwest Side ward A Chicago alderman wants to kill Chick-fil-A's plans to build a restaurant in his increasingly trendy Northwest Side ward because the fast-food chain's top executive vocally opposes gay marriage. Ald.Proco "Joe" Moreno announced this week that he will block Chick-fil-A's effort to build its second Chicago store, which would be in the Logan Square neighborhood, following company President Dan Cathy's remarks last week that he was "guilty as charged" for supporting the biblical definition of marriage as between a man and woman.

Just days after his inauguration, new Gov. Jerry Brown has a quick opportunity to dust off his once controversial judge-picking skills and name a justice to one of the most influential state Supreme Courts in the country. California Supreme Court Justice Carlos Moreno, the sole Democrat and Latino on the state's high court, submitted his letter of resignation to Brown this week, informing the governor he would retire from the court on Feb. 28. Moreno's resignation is expected to place pressure on the governor to either replace him with another Latino, or choose an African-American justice on a court without...

A uniformed cop accused of raping an East Village woman in her apartment tried to hide from a surveillance camera while using a key to enter her building, sources said yesterday. But what he didn't appear to know was that there was a second camera catching his and his partner's every move before and after the alleged sexual assault, the sources said. The NYPD's Internal Affairs Bureau is investigating a claim that the patrolman raped an intoxicated business executive after the cop and his partner responded to a cabdriver's 911 plea for help with his drunken passenger, the sources said....
