Nearly two years ago, SFW published an article in which we uncovered that a Kuwaiti real estate investment concern had successfully imposed Shariah on tenants of its facilities in Colorado by refusing to allow certain types of businesses to operate and activities to take place on their property. This form of financial Islamic imperialism has now found its way to our nation’s capital in a very similar case, this time involving investors from Qatar, until recently the long-time home of prominent financial jihadist, Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi. The owner of this development, which will be one of the biggest in all...

Texas courts would be prohibited from applying foreign laws – such as Islamic Sharia law – when they conflict with the rights guaranteed by the U.S. and Texas constitutions, if Reps. Leo Berman (R-Tyler) and Harvey Hilderbran (R-Kerrville) have their way. Islamic Sharia law governs both societal matters such as marriage, divorce, and business relations and matters that US law considers personal such as hygiene and diet. The bill only blocks foreign law when it violates a law or the constitution of this state. Specifically his amendment states: ”… A ruling or decision of a court, arbitrator, or administrative adjudicator...

A recent study entitled Shariah Law and American State Courts: An Assessment of State Appellate Court Cases, released by The Center for Security Policy, identifies dozens of American court cases involving sharia law. Many of these cases involve blatant violations of Constitutional rights, usually to the detriment of women and children, including the enforcement of foreign custody orders to wrest children from their mothers. Yet, despite the numerous cases cited in the study, several commentators have chosen to selectively criticize the study, rather than recognize the challenges presented to the American justice system by litigants advocating for the application of...

Wikileaks has revealed a US report on Guantanamo terrorist prisoners called the “Matrix of Threat Indicators for Enemy Combatants.” You will see this document written up in dozens of articles in the media and the blogosphere over the next few days. We wanted to call attention to one list that has come out of that report: a list of foreign mosques and Islamic centers that are used to recruit and train Jihadis.

Now that Sharia law is getting more attention, Islam is rolling out its defenses to defuse and confuse the thinking and the not-so-thinking public. If you are a watcher or connoisseur of Islamic politics, it is fascinating to see how similar the different arguments are. Read one apologist for Islam and you have read all of the apologists.

Zakat is a form of tithing in Islam in which Muslims who are able to do so donate 2.5% of their wealth (5% for Shia). Zakat is very important in Islam and is considered one of the five pillars of Islam. Modern administration of zakat often involves Islamic charities and governments. Zakat is an issue in Shariah Finance as many Shariah compliant financial instruments set aside money for zakat. Zakat is a concern because, as the bipartisan 9-11 Commission Report detailed, it has in fact been used to fund Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups:

Editor's Note: The following are excerpts from The Fight of Our Lives: Knowing the Enemy, Speaking the Truth, and Choosing to Win the War Against Radical Islam by Bill Bennett and Seth Liebsohn. As we were working on final edits, the news broke that terrorists from al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula had attempted to place bombs on cargo airliners headed to the United States. The day before, the news from the war front was in Washington, D.C., where it was revealed that one Farooque Ahmed (who lived in Ashburn, Virginia) was arrested for plotting to blow up Metro stations in...

Senator Bill Ketron's bill goes further than other irrational US reactions to Islam by attempting to outlaw sharia entirely. The United Kingdom has officially sanctioned the use of Islamic tribunals to settle some disputes, and in Germany, Islamic legal scholars such as Mathias Rohe have noted the compatibility of Islamic law to German law. The application of Islamic Law in Europe may remain controversial, but in the court of American public opinion, the idea of the Islamic legal system having any application in the US provokes massive social angst and sleazy political opportunism. The southern state of Tennessee is the...

It isn’t a crime to practice Islam in the United States of America. At least, not yet. On March 14, Missouri state Rep. Don Wells introduced a proposed constitutional amendment aimed at blocking Shariah — the Islamic legal code — from being used in state courts. Another Missouri lawmaker introduced a bill to ban the use of any foreign laws in state courtrooms. Wells said he introduced the Shariah ban out of concern that there is a global push to accept Islamic laws that he views as oppressive to women and as calling for violent punishment for minor offenses. “I...

Yesterday, the former imam of the proposed Ground Zero Mosque, Faisal Abdul Rauf – who incidentally did more to provoke suspicion of Muslims in America than anyone else last year thanks to his pigheaded and insensitive insistence on building a mosque in a building hit by wreckage of one of the jets which brought down the World Trade Center towers on September 11, 2001 – was on MSNBC assailing the hearings set for this week on Islamic extremism being conducted by House Homeland Security committee head Peter King (R-NY). The imam does a nice job presenting himself as a rational,...

At the risk of being presumed rather caustic–especially considering the heinous acts perpetrated against the Copts this past weekend–I offer this tidbit from St. Thomas Aquinas on Islam. On the other hand, those who founded sects committed to erroneous doctrines proceeded in a way that is opposite to this. The point is clear in the case of Mohammed. He seduced the people by promises of carnal pleasure to which the concupiscence of the flesh goads us. His teachings also contain precepts that were in conformity with his promises, and he gave free rein to carnal pleasure. In all this, as...

Sometimes it's easier to shoot the messenger. Former Reagan administration defense official Frank Gaffney is still waiting for somebody to rebut his allegations that the Muslim Brotherhood, which seeks to impose shariah law around the world, is running an influence operation in Washington, D.C. Instead, he's being called an anti-Muslim bigot. After WND reported yesterday that Gaffney accused Muslim Republican Suhail Khan of "infiltrating" the Conservative Political Action Conference on behalf of radical Islamists, Khan and CPAC director Lisa DePasquale fired back with personal attacks on Gaffney in Salon and Politico.

Stated Ellison: "No security policy position can be premised on military might. ...The way it works is we are a country guided by ideals of equity, generosity and engagement in our relations with other nations and those philosophical ideals create safe borders … and, God willing, one day the border will become an irrelevancy."

We can all fill safe and secure knowing that Obama’s crack national security team is on the job…right??? Keep in mind that the Jihadist terrorist’s own father tried to warn US officials…
