“Girls” star Lena Dunham on Friday came to the defense of a pal and producer who was accused of raping a 17-year-old actress. Dunham and her co-showrunner Jenni Konner took the side of Murray Miller after actress Aurora Perrineau filed a police report against him — claiming she woke up while he was having intercourse with her in 2012. “While our first instinct is to listen to every woman’s story, our insider knowledge of Murray’s situation makes us confident that sadly this accusation is one of the 3% of assault cases that are misreported every year,” Dunham and Konner wrote...

An actress claims a writer and executive producer for the TV show “Girls” raped her when she was 17, according to a new report. Aurora Perrineau — the 23-year-old daughter of “Lost” star Harold Perrineau and an actress in her own right — filed a police report Friday alleging that filmmaker and screenwriter Murray Miller sexually assaulted her in LA in 2012, The Wrap reports. “I woke up in Murray’s bed naked. He was on top of me having sexual intercourse with me. At no time did I consent to any sexual contact with Murray,” she said in a statement...

Most of the time, Chris Coon is a mild-mannered, low-key pastor at Urban Village Church in Chicago. But when the collar comes off and the running shorts—and especially a race bib—go on, the 49-year-old turns into a different person. An angry one. The things that stoke his ire? Poor race organization. Course volunteers who don’t direct runners at turns. And cars, especially those that don’t yield the right of way or even acknowledge his presence in an intersection. Not only does anger bubble up more frequently when he’s running, he says, he’s also more likely to act on it. “I’ve flipped...

When the Edmund Fitzgerald sank to the bottom of Lake Superior amid a fierce storm on Nov. 10, 1975, the most gut-wrenching loss was its entire crew - all 29 men aboard who went down with the famed freighter. But the wreck of the 729-foot "laker" was also a $24 million loss of an engineering marvel - a ship considered a Great Lakes workhorse as it racked up seasonal records for its cargo-hauling abilities. Below are some of the often-forgotten facts about the ship whose demise has become a tragic Lake Superior legend. The Edmund Fitzgerald was not only an...

If you could read his mind, what a tale his thoughts could tell. So claimed Gordon Lightfoot in his 1970 breakout hit, the song that would launch his career as one of the most consistently satisfying singer-songwriters of the decade and would subsequently be recorded by some 300 other artists. There was a lot of musical confession in those days, with James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Joni Mitchell and so many others wearing their hearts on their lyric sleeves. Yet Lightfoot generally kept his mind to himself. A reserved Canadian, he played his emotional cards comparatively close to his vest, rarely...

Why the elephant's survival should be important to everyone. Consider this sobering statistic: In less than a decade, the African elephant may be extinct. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, in a statement Wednesday, argued that the large fees collected from permits to hunt would help fund conservation efforts—but we think there's a better way forward. Pilar Guzmán, editor in chief of Condé Nast Traveler, sat down with Chelsea Clinton last year to learn more about the Elephants Action Network—a conservation group formed by the Clinton Global Initiative in 2013—and why the elephant's survival should be important to everyone. Their...

Earlier today I called to make an appointment (routine check-up), at one of the Family Medicine offices of Reading Hospital/Tower Health, in Reading, PA. I was a patient a few years ago, but because it's been that long, I'm considered a new patient. I was just about floored when they said that ALL of their family medicine offices/doctors in all locations are booked out until JANUARY 2018, for new patients! This happens often with specialists, where you have to wait weeks or even months for an appointment. In fact I'm in a 2-month wait to see a specialist in mid-December....

The launch of Zuma atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket has been pushed to Friday (Nov. 17) at the earliest, officials with the U.S. Air Force's 45th Space Wing announced via Twitter today (Nov. 16). "We have decided to stand down and take a closer look at data from recent fairing testing for another customer," SpaceX communications director John Taylor said in a statement this afternoon. "Though we have preserved the range opportunity for tomorrow, we will take the time we need to complete the data review and will then confirm a new launch date."

Dear Mrs. C: Our son, “Waldo,” loves Buena — to the point that his dad and I are feeling left out. He is a sophomore and comes up with any excuse to stay there after school — sports, clubs, etc. He usually doesn’t arrive home until 4:30 or so. He maintains good grades, but is less connected with us that he used to be. In fact, he even talks about his college and career plans. We miss him already (he is our baby)! Do you have any suggestions? Signed: Concerned Parents Dear CP’s: Yes. Be thankful. Your Waldo sounds like...

Do you ever watch people? I do. Like at an airport, for example. Or at the mall, when others are shopping. Watching people is a most interesting activity at times like that. I like to read faces. Oh, I’m probably wrong more often than not, but some people appear to spread gloom wherever they go. I’ve even seen a couple go at each other, and it would have been dangerous to get between them; they were arguing about the trip they were taking. But then there are others who radiate kindness and gladness. You may not know them and may...

Waco – Rolando Reyes asked the judge to disqualify the elected Criminal District Attorney in the case against him, a charge of engaging in organized criminal activity filed on Sunday, May 17, 2015, following his arrest at Twin Peaks Restaurant. The motion drafted by his attorney former Galveston District Judge Susan Criss is adamant about Reyna’s allegedly biased and criminal role in his administration prior to the Twin Peaks affair, as revealed in an affidavit filed by Greg Davis, a former lead prosecutor from Reyna’s office. Reyes is one of a trio of defendants including Matt Clendennen and Paul Landers...

A Buffalo Township couple is suing the township police and the Nationwide Insurance Co. after, their lawsuit says, hibiscus plants growing in their backyard were mistaken for marijuana plants. In a lawsuit, Edward Cramer, 69, and his wife, Audrey Cramer, 66, claim that Buffalo Township police handcuffed them both and made them sit in the back of a police car for hours last month as police ransacked their house looking for marijuana. But rather than running a pot-growing operation, the Cramers say they grow flowering hibiscus in their backyard. The Cramers were not charged. They filed a civil lawsuit Thursday...

DEAR AMY: There’s a guy who has made it known that he likes me. I am interested in him, too, but here’s my dilemma: We are of different ethnicities (I’m white). This is not an issue for me, but he has strong beliefs in the “Black Lives Matter” movement. In the city where we live he hangs mainly with residents who are mostly (their words) brown and black people. I am already trying to figure out where I fit in. Some people have embraced me, while others play the reverse racism card. How do I know what he feels for...

Sarah Palin spoke out against sexual harassment in the workplace on Thursday, but said personally hasn't experienced any incidents because people know she is carrying a weapon."I think a whole lot of people know I'm probably packing, so I don't think there's a whole lot of people who would necessarily mess with me," the former Alaska governor said while speaking to MSNBC's Kasie Hunt on Capitol Hill. “I don’t mean to be lighthearted about it; this is a serious issue,” Palin added. “It really stinks for women in the workplace that for too long, men have thought they can get...

A FBI informant who gave the government information about a Russian bribery plot implicated in the sale of U.S. uranium rights tried unsuccessfully last year to recover upwards of $700,000 in bribes he said he was authorized to pay as part of the FBI investigation. William D. Campbell has emerged now as the key figure in a congressional probe into Russia’s 2010 purchase of U.S. uranium rights and then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s role in approving the deal. Ms. Toensing told Fox that her client could offer details about what Russian officials “were saying during the time about how they...

Tiffany Trump's Nude Dress Is Causing a Shopping Meltdown Tiffany Trump's Nude Dress Is Causing a Shopping Meltdown Tiffany Trump might not be front and center like her half-sister Ivanka Trump, but as one of the president's children, all eyes are definitely still on her. It seems that Tiffany has embraced the spotlight — at least when it comes to style — and recently posted a photo of herself donning a sheer, champagne dress. While we don't know what designer she was sporting, we are fans of her look, which is so in style right now. Taking a few notes...

Hiatt's father Travis was helping her move out Wilson's home when Wilson came back from work early. Wilson shot and killed Travis as he tried to protect his daughter. He then forced the Hiatt, who was...
