There is a major story brewing in the USA regarding the Jehovah's Witnesses. Please note the following major news stories in the United States, which also includes the NY Post's story, and Great Britain. This story is about a major pedophile issue in the Jehovah's Witnesses (Watchtower) organization in the USA, Canada, Europe and the world. In the USA, there are about 1,000,000 Witnesses Apparently the Church's strange stance of requiring two Witnesses to see a crime (which is pretty unlikely when a pedophile like other criminals won't do his criminal act in front of other witnesses) and the Church ...

January 25, 2002 Papers in Pedophile Case Show Church Effort to Avert Scandal By PAM BELLUCK OSTON, Jan. 24 — The Roman Catholic archdiocese here seemed more preoccupied with avoiding a scandal involving a pedophile priest than making sure the priest had no further contact with children, documents released today suggest. The documents — depositions, letters and memorandums from 84 civil lawsuits against the priest and the archdiocese — reveal in detail that the church knew of the priest's pedophilia, but moved ...

Conservative Triumphs in California GOP PrimarySimon Stomps RiordanBy John Gizzi Los Angeles, Calif.#151;quot;Simon! Simon! Simon!quot; The cheers from the largely conservative Republican crowd gathered here at the Los Angeles Airport Westin Hotel on Tuesday evening were as much about their own cause as for the man on stage, businessman William Simon, Jr., who had just won a surprisingly large come-from-behind landslide victory in the California gubernatorial primary over former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan. In winning the right to face embattled Democratic Gov. Gray Davis this fall, first-time candidate Simon demolished Riordan by 49% to 31%, with Secretary of State...

<p>Sacramento -- A day after last week's primary election, Gov. Gray Davis' administration issued a reminder to state agencies that his image is supposed to appear on every state of California Web site.</p>
<p>Under a policy implemented a year ago, the governor's face is used to link all state Web sites to the governor's page and e-mail address. While the governor's office says the move is one in a series of steps to make a more consumer-friendly Web site, critics say the governor is using the site for campaign purposes.</p>

If so, it is for embracing the real problems of California#146;s real people in a principled way. Republican Whip Ray Haynes represents California#146;s 36th state Senate District. I don#146;t usually comment on elections because hundreds of people are already handicapping them: assessing strategy and dissecting outcomes. But I am making an exception here because March 5 was so unique; it deserves an analysis other than the standard #147;Davis beat Riordan#148; horse race comment most people are writing. First, the GOP governor#146;s primary: The standard analysis says Davis#146;s $10 million attack on Riordan cost Riordan the nomination. Davis supposedly spent a...

WHICH Bill Simon and which George Bush? The stunning primary victory of Bill Simon over a popular, rich, and well known two-term Mayor of Los Angeles should send ripples throughout both political parties. While many some conservative pundits have already begun making comparisons between Bill Simon and Ronald Reagan, and while some liberal pundits have already tagged Bill Simon as the next Bret Shundler, the failed conservative Republican candidate in New Jersey last November, neither of these comparisons is accurate. Bill Simon does not have the inspiring eloquence of Ronald Reagan. No American president in the last century has...

quot;On primary election night, Simon made the comparison to Reagan explicit. The early Reagan, he said, was quot;short on experience, but long on principle, vision and optimism.quot; It was a nice try to tie himself to the man who beat Pat Brown. But unless something changes dramatically, it's more likely that in 2002, it's the California Republicans, not the Democrats, who will have orchestrated a battle they are destined to lose.quot;

The California primary was mint-julep time for American conservatives who, however pleased they are about George W., very much needed a sign of life from the outback. What was especially spectacular about Bill Simon's victory was its dire unpredictability. We have now in the White House the son of a GOP patriarch and, prospectively in the governor's mansion in California, the son of another GOP patriarch. And where in California? In Sacramento, where 35 years ago another upstart Republican arrived, making his way to the White House, where he officiated for eight years, pending his final destination in the...

Out-of-town journalists were shocked that former L.A. Mayor Dick Riordan wasn't the GOP pick to replace a vulnerable Gov. Gray Davis. But the real story isn't that Riordan tanked, it's how the most qualified Republican candidate, Secretary of State Bill Jones, lost the primary -- thanks to the White House. In his stead, businessman Bill Simon will run. Simon doesn't have the arrogant demeanor of, say, millionaire Democratic hopeful Al Checchi. Still, he is a born-to-money candidate who missed voting in some primaries, never served in elective office and looks, as Davis aide Roger Salazar once quipped, quot;like he...

Sunday, March 10, 2002 Simon only 'upset' conventional wisdom Chris Weinkopf Columnsit TO appreciate just how overwhelmingly Bill Simon beat former Mayor Richard Riordan in last week's election, consider the following: His margin of victory, 18 percentage points, was only one point lower than Assemblyman Dennis Cardoza's rout of Rep. Gary Condit. But Simon didn't just pummel Riordan, he also destroyed conventional wisdom and the simplistic theorizing about what it takes to win California elections. To become the next governor of California, he'll have to debunk the conventional wisdom one more time. Conventional wisdom said that businessman Simon, the quot;neophytequot;...

<p>Republican voters chose a nominee Tuesday that Gov. Gray Davis, if he could have voted in their primary, likely would have picked: Bill Simon, a rookie politician with conservative views who is so little-known that some newly minted supporters call him ``Simmons.''</p>

<p>For the first time since paisley ties were in vogue, the first African-American joined the U.S. Supreme Court and the National Organization for Women opened its doors, California is on the verge of shutting women out of the state's top offices.</p>

The victory of Bill Simon Jr. in the California Republican gubernatorial primary comes as little surprise to those who have been watching the race. Richard Riordan, the former Los Angeles mayor, who over the years had supported Democrats as well as Republicans, started off the race last fall with about 40 percent of the vote. His opponents, businessman Simon and Secretary of State Bill Jones, initially unknown to most voters, essentially started off with zero. That meant that about 60 percent of the votes were up for grabs. And much of the Riordan support was soft: Voters had some positive ...

Bill Simon pulls an upset in California's gubernatorial primary. Can he do it again in the fall? LOS ANGELES When poll results a week before California's gubernatorial primary showed political neophyte Bill Simon with a six-point lead over two-term Los Angeles mayor Richard Riordan, directors of California's Field Poll suggested voters were witnessing quot;one of the most remarkable turnarounds in California election history.quot; That assessment, dismissed by many observers at the time as an exaggeration, turned out to be an understatement. A month before the March 5 primary, Riordan led Simon by more than 30 percentage points. In fact, Riordan...

<p>The unusual, even unique, dynamics, of this week's primary election made it particularly difficult to handicap.</p>
<p>The state's first-ever March primary in a nonpresidential year, the prospect of a record-low voter turnout, an unprecedented assault by Democratic Gov. Gray Davis on Republican contender Richard Riordan, a legislative redistricting scheme aimed at preserving the partisan status quo and new campaign finance rules that encouraged so-called "independent expenditures" by special interest groups were among the unusual aspects.</p>

his is highly influenced by my having spent Tuesday night amid mostly jubilant Republicans at the state GOP's shindig in Los Angeles. But I'm almost convinced that political novice William E. Simon Jr. has a chance to upset Democratic Gov. Gray Davis in November. Certainly Simon's victory over former L.A. mayor Richard Riordan and current secretary of state (and party veteran) Bill Jones was remarkable. And while he benefited — as Arnold Steinberg has noted — from mistakes and events beyond his control, Simon also made the most of his opportunities and avoided serious mistakes himself. It's worth recalling ...

<p>The article (Page 1A, March 3) claiming that Gray Davis' "bold blitz" destroyed Richard Riordan's lead in the GOP primary completely missed the point. Riordan's liberal views were responsible for his demise, not the Davis ad campaign.</p>
<p>Riordan is a liberal who stands against all the core principles of the Republican Party; he didn't gain the support of the party at our state convention. As we came closer to the election, conservatives saw no point in running two men against each other whose only differences were their party affiliations. Therefore, we rejected the liberal candidate and chose the conservative: Bill Simon.</p>

(CNSNews.com) - A come-from-behind victory for the conservative candidate in California's GOP primary is cheering the party's base - not to mention Democratic Gov. Gray Davis, who is already trying to turn Bill Simon's conservatism against him.Simon, a wealthy investor and political neophyte, defeated the more liberal Republican candidate Richard Riordan, a former Los Angeles mayor and the White House pick for California governor. Political analysts agree that unseating Davis will be a challenge for Simon, not because the incumbent is popular, but because some of the state's Republican voters may balk at Simon's conservatism.Even some who hold conservative positions ...
