News Max / Comment Max Green Manifest Destiny and 'The Wind Dancers' Diane Alden Nov. 5, 2001 Eleven years ago, when I was still living in Atlanta, I decided to write a novel. As a frustrated cowgirl living in a big city, I thought I would work out my yearning for cows and cowpokes and wide vistas by writing a book about the contemporary American West. At that time I was contributing to the Sierra Club and dutifully feeling anguish for clubbed seal pups and believing the notion that wouldn't it be nice to have wolves roaming our parks and ...

Sustainable Development: A Snowball Bound For Hell By Henry Lamb 12.08.01 Like a snowball barreling down a mountainside, the WSSD is gathering momentum, size and power, racing toward its ultimate destination - hell. WSSD is the acronym for "World Summit on Sustainable Development." It is scheduled for September 2 - 11, 2002, in Johannesburg, South Africa. It is a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the UNCED (United Nations Conference on Environment and Development), held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. A major objective of WSSD is to create the machinery for IEG - International Environmental Governance. The fourth ...

News from the Front #60: The Scribes and the Pharisees of Oregon © James Buchal 12.08.01 This is a speech given at the December 6, 2001 Christmas Dinner of the Yamhill County Women in Agriculture. To put it in context, before the speech the audience was shown videotaped interviews documenting the devastation suffered by the farmers: Seeing that this is a Christmas dinner, I must apologize because my remarks are not really going to fit the season, because the subject matter, fraud and corruption in salmon recovery, doesn't really fill anyone with happiness and joy. So I ...

AMERICA: NATION? or nation-state in a NWO? By Dorothy Anne Seese 12.08.01 The great government land-grabs are not for the good of the environment or the preservation of our great natural monuments and other resources. They are for the good of the global system that is racing upon us, because private property ownership is the basis for autonomous nations and sovereign governmental structures. The objective is to take away the sovereignty of America as a nation and reduce it to a nation-state in the global governance order for the world. While our citizens are focused on a perpetual state ...

Increased military preparedness or increased antelope populations? Improved bombing facilities or improved fairy shrimp habitats? The choice of environmental extremists, no-growth activists and NIMBY agitators across the country is clear. Even in wartime, this gang of greenies continues to put obscure plants, microscopic critters and sacred "open space" above their countrymen. This week's tragic "friendly fire" bombing mishap in Afghanistan underscores the ...

Enter Stage Right - A Journal of Modern Conservatism Sustainable development is not sustainable By Henry Lamb The concept of sustainable development entered the world officially, through the 1987 U.N. Commission on Environment and Development. The event was chaired by Gro Harlem Brundtland, who once was vice-chair of the International Socialist Party, and was appointed head of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1998. The Commission's report said simply, that sustainable development is: "...to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." The concept was given meaning in 1992 at ...

Cliff Gardner: Latest Rancher to Fall Victim to the Western Federal Juggernaut Sierra Times 12.07.01 RENO - Cliff Gardner, a 30 Ruby Valley Rancher in Elko County, Nevada was found guilty of willfully violating the unilaterally imposed grazing restrictions of the Forest Service. The arbitrary and capricious rule and enforcement of the Forest Service had left the Gardners with the alternatives of giving up their 129 year-old family ranch or opposing the Forest Service. Since, 1996, Gardner said he had no choice but to run the cattle on land that was once his, but taken away by a Forestry ...

BEND, Ore. (AP) -- Ranchers and environmentalists may soon find themselves battling over gray wolves again because federal officials expect the wolves to travel from Idaho into Oregon as early as this spring. Many ranchers say they fear wolves will kill their cattle, while some environmentalists say wolf preservation should take priority in national forests and wilderness areas because cattle should not be allowed to graze on public lands. La Grande rancher Sharon Beck said most ranchers will strongly oppose wolf repopulation. "Wolves are gone for a good reason," Beck said. "That is because they couldn't coexist with cattle." ...

America: A 'Fascilist' Country? By Henry Lamb © 2000 WorldNetDaily.com March 11, 2000 If land and its resources are, in fact, the source of production, America is in a heap of trouble. The first, defining characteristic of a socialist country is government ownership of the sources of production. The first, defining characteristic of a fascist country is private ownership of the sources of production, under the control of centralized government. More than 40 percent of the land in America is owned by governments, and the rest of it is controlled by the government. Does that make America a "fascilist" country? ...

Commentary - Sierra Times.com An Internet Publication For Real Americans Home >> Editorials >> Commentary Tightening the screws By Henry Lamb 05.02.01 More than 1,400 farm families in the Klamath Basin have been targeted for economic extinction by environmental extremists. Nearly 90% of the 210,000 acres of farmland will get no water from Upper Klamath Lake because Steve Lewis, a biologist, rendered an opinion for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which said a sucker fish in the Upper Klamath Lake, and coho salmon in the Klamath river need the water more than the farmers. In an appeal, ...

Vertical integration may be a wonderful strategy for business, where a central corporate headquarters controls every facet of the stream of activity that produces revenue – acquisition of the natural resource, processing, manufacturing, sales and distribution. The strategy seeks to squeeze out extra profits that might have been earned by other businesses that supplied these services to the corporation. Then why don't we run the government like a business? Increasingly, we are. But we should not be. The object of government is not to maximize profit – it is to protect our freedoms (or should be). Since the New ...

eco-logic ---- on-line ---- Saturday, December 01, 2001 Federal "No Growth" Blueprint on Viagra By Nancie G. Marzulla When Secretary Mel Martinez took over the reins as the newly installed head of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), he had little reason to suspect that in addition to heading up the nation's housing policies, he would also be handed the dubious distinction of being asked to unleash a 2,000 page blueprint for controlling every aspect of local land use across America from a "Directorate" located in Washington, D.C. Unless Secretary Martinez acts to stop it, in the next ...

Adolph Hitler believed that the Jews were inferior to Aryans, and felt perfectly justified to use the power of his government to confiscate the property of the Jews for himself, his cronies and his government. Hitler did not snatch his belief out of the air – it was a "philosophy" carefully constructed by the European Eugenics Society throughout the first half of the 20th century. Hindsight is 20-20. Today, few will deny that the so-called philosophy of the Eugenics Society was little more than an effort by a few academics and scientists to provide an excuse for the elite ...

Prairie EmpireCreating Permanently Safe Seatsfor Statist LiberalsWhy Depopulation of Rural Areas is NecessaryState Church Promotion Committee (16 October 2000) Thanks to Richard Nixon, Watergate and an ill-timed pardon in September of the 1974 mid-term election year, the 94th Congress elected more Liberal Democrats to both houses than at any time since the Goldwater landslide loss exactly one decade earlier. In the following election, the Democrats not only recaptured the Whitehouse but increased their hold in each house by one seat-- 61 Senators, 292 House of Representatives. It proved to be their high-water mark.Despite the achievements of the 1976 election, a troubling ...

Highlighting the difference in their approaches to environmental policy, Texas Gov. George W. Bush noted that the Clinton-Gore administration "took 40 million acres of land out of circulation without consulting local officials." They acted unilaterally out West, Bush said. Twice, he lodged the complaint. Twice, Gore blinked and grimaced and sat there ...
