I am very aware that long before the “Rights of Man” were proclaimed during the French Revolution, our own country was founded not only on a revolution that threw off a monarchy, but one that culminated with a Constitution and Bill of Rights that recognized that human rights are not some sort of privilege granted by a beneficent state but endowed by our Creator.
