President Biden urged the nation to unite in a rare Oval Office address on Sunday night – a day after a gunman tried to assassinate former President Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania campaign rally. “My fellow Americans, I want to speak to you tonight about the need for us to lower the temperature in our politics and to remember that while we may disagree, we are not enemies, we are neighbors, we are friends, coworkers, citizens, and most importantly we are fellow Americans,” the 81-year-old president said. “Yesterday’s shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania calls on all of us...

"Too much of what's happening in our country today is not normal," he said. "Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic."https://x.com/i/status/1565492870043389954[snip]Pres. Biden: “Democracy cannot survive when one side believes there are only two outcomes to an election: Either they win, or they were cheated. And that’s where the MAGA Republicans are today.”

The attempt on Donald Trump’s life Saturday night was an unnerving and historic moment in American politics, and the former president’s supporters rose to the occasion with memes celebrating his fighting spirit and lampooning the left’s hysterical hatred. Some of the most widely-shared images of the night were edits on the already-iconic photo of Trump defiantly raising his fist, surrounded by Secret Service agents on the stage of his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Human Events editor Jack Posobiec posted the photo in black and white, with just a splash of color — red laser eyes on Trump — with...

Barron Trump looked born for the role. Which, of course, he was. Earlier this week he made his first appearance at one of his father’s political rallies. And he looked anything but an 18-year-old novice. Barron was sitting at the front of the crowd but as soon as Donald Trump pointed at him and began to introduce him, the 18-year-old moved like a practiced veteran. He raised his 6-foot-7-inch frame upwards, waved his right hand to all sides and acknowledged the applause. This looked easy. Towering over those around him he then held a clenched left fist above his head...

I've watched (and far too many times, endured) the Macy's Fireworks broadcasts... ...but this year rocked like a New Madrid earthquake. Musically it was at 30 minute Trump rally. Nothing woke. "Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing" buried in the middle...well after an outstanding rendition of our National Anthem at the beginning with melodic quotations in several musical bridges.

The Supreme Court ruled Monday in Trump v. United States that a former president has substantial immunity from prosecution for official acts committed while in office, but not for unofficial acts. The Court sent the matter back down to a lower court, as the justices did not apply the ruling to whether or not former President Trump is immune from prosecution regarding actions related to efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. In Corner Post, Inc. v. Board of Governors, the court holds that a claim under the Administrative Procedure Act to challenge an agency action first comes into being when the plaintiff is injured by final agency action. The court vacates both decisions on Texas and Florida’s social media laws, in Moody v. NetChoice, LLC and NetChoice v. Paxton, explaining that neither of the lower courts properly considered the nature of the First Amendment challenges. In Trump v. United States, the court holds that a former president has absolute immunity for his core constitutional powers.

"If, for whatever reason, there’s a change at the top of the ticket, you guys are in trouble with Donald Trump. Because the guy who was up there tonight is not a guy who’s going to inspire people,” Axelrod said on CNN following Thursday’s debate, in a clip highlighted by Mediaite.

I see a lot of people who are conditioned to believe the sky is always falling and that somehow, the bad guys always win. Let me tell you what's going to happen. Joe Biden is the president and isn't dropping out. Period. The election will happen as scheduled, and Trump is going to destroy him in historic fashion. Democrats who are smart will see this inevitability and begin pivoting so that they can be on the right side of history. Foreign nations will ramp up provocative behavior to achieve maximum gains prior to Daddy Trump returning to office, at which...

Rep. Lauren Boebert has won the packed Republican primary in Colorado’s 4th after switching districts. The seat previously belonged to Rep. Ken Buck, who announced his plans to retire earlier this year. The district should be an easy win for the congresswoman in November as it leans heavily red. “Since the first day I ran for public office I promised I would do whatever it takes to stop the socialists and communists from taking over our country,” Boebert said when announcing her plan to switch districts in December. “That means staying in the fight. But it also means not allowing...

Conventional wisdom holds that the GOP is split into two factions: A Reaganite wing that still holds on to old ideas of U.S. leadership on the world stage and a populist MAGA wing that is deeply skeptical of U.S. global leadership and wants to retreat into a fortress America. That conventional wisdom is dead wrong. In fact, the opposite appears to be true: Populist MAGA Republicans are actually more supportive of strong U.S. leadership and engagement in international affairs than establishment Republicans.
