The latest Wall Street Journal Poll can’t be good news for the Dems, and if the trends hold true for 5 more months (and given the way the Dems are behaving, why not?), Connecticut may be one of the few states to put Democrats back in power. I’ll take that. It will be fun to see John Larson’s group become the party of “No”. Republicans have solidified support among voters who had drifted from the party in recent elections, putting the GOP in position for a strong comeback in November’s mid-term campaign, according to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News...

A Muslim leader who has tried to portray the founder of the Congressional Anti-Terrorism Caucus in Washington as an extremist "hatemonger" was himself exposed as an extremist on a popular radio program. For years, Jibril Hough has represented himself and his North Carolina mosque as "moderate," while putting Rep. Sue Myrick, R-N.C., on the defensive as an anti-Muslim fanatic who "shoots from the hip" when sounding the alarm about homegrown Islamic terrorism. Myrick, a member of the House Intelligence Committee, co-founded the Capitol Hill caucus after 9/11 to educate Americans about the growing threat from jihadists. But during an in-studio...

Congressman John Larson (D-CT) held a town hall meeting on Wednesday, September 2 in deep-blue West Hartford, CT at the Town Hall Auditorium. My husband "zelig" and I arrived about 45 minutes before the town hall started. As expected, there were two distinct groups rallying outside the Auditorium. Just like every rally we've ever attended, it was easy to find the folks on "our side": They were the ones with the American flags, the yellow Gadsden flags and the red and white-striped First U.S. Navy Jack flags... AND the homemade signs. The pro-ObamaCare crowd had their professionally printed full color...

Larson, who has served as county commissioner and city councilman for 15 years, said he made the decision after speaking with residents in the district the past six months. So far, Larson's only opponent in the March Primary is Quico Canseco, a banker and attorney from San Antonio. The office is currently held by Democrat Ciro Rodriguez.

December, 28, 2005Dear Friend, A warm handshake, the touching of each cheek in turn (in true Italian style), and the words, “We are doing the same mission for our Lord Jesus Christ.” That moment bridged a gap of centuries. Five hundred years ago I would not have been standing in the Vatican and a priest might have called for my death as a heretic. But this day in December, 2005, was a day of reconciliation and embracing on common ground–the belief in waging spiritual war through exorcism, deliverance, and healing. St. Peter's Basilica. The largest church in the world. ...

Lawmakers from both parties hailed the highway and transit bill, which would provide more than $4 billion for highway and transit projects in Washington state, and $2.7 billion for Oregon. >snip "Our delegation has done an incredible job of standing up for the viaduct," Sen. SELF-PROCLIMED exorcist Bob Larson could be using hypnosis to entrance his subjects, an expert says. Melbourne counseling hypnotherapist Daryl Wilkinson says the techniques used by the US evangelist are typical of hypnotherapy. "Basically what he's doing is a selection process, seeing who is susceptible to suggestion," he said. Larson performed several exorcisims and blessings before hundreds of mostly young people at a free sermon at the Forum Theatre on Friday night.... "If someone is wide-eyed and into it, he'll take them, but if someone is 'Oh yeah, c'mon, he won't." Mr Wilkinson said.

Local conservative radio talk show host, Lars Larson, exploded on air Wednesday in response to several death threats against his wife. "Let's make this deal. Stop threatening my wife. Come and threaten me, so I can just fill you full of bullets. You come threaten me in person. You bring it on, but leave my wife out of this," Lars said in response to the treats to his wife and family. Larson spoke about how disturbing the calls were on air to listeners, explaining that they brought his wife to tears. "They said, 'We're going to come and rape your...

Election 2004Simmons, Shays win as incumbents sweep House seats HARTFORD (AP) -- Connecticut incumbents were sweeping to victory Tuesday night, including two moderate Republicans who faced tight re-election races dominated by negative ads that portrayed them as Bush clones. Rep. Christopher Shays declared victory in his race against Democrat Diane Farrell in Fairfield County's 4th District. And Rob Simmons beat Democrat Jim Sullivan, who conceded defeat in eastern Connecticut's 2nd District. Simmons and Shays had struggled to hold onto their U.S. House seats Tuesday in tight races where their Democratic opponents said they voted in lockstep with the GOP leadership....

I t was a match worthy of World Wrestling Entertainment. In this corner, one mild-mannered, wordy academic; in the other, Kevin Mannix's minister of information, the pistol-packing Godzilla of Portland talk radio, Lars Larson. It was the fall of 2001. I was a visiting professor at Duke University. A Portland radio show wanted someone to explain the new policy of trying foreign terrorists in front of military commissions. I boned up on the topic and called in at the appointed time. "You're on the air with Lars Larson," said a voice. Then another -- it sounded like God on steroids...

When the anthrax mailers penned the message, "YOU CAN NOT STOP US. WE HAVE THIS ANTHRAX," the threat included a chilling nuance that remains largely unrecognized. "ARE YOU AFRAID?" asked the attackers. "Yes," should have been the answer, according to some biodefense experts, who think that the anthrax spores mailed to Senators Thomas Daschle (D-- SD) and Patrick Leahy (D--VT) in the fall of 2001 represented the state of the art in bioweapons refinement, revealing telltale clues about the source. This view is controversial, however, because others dispute the sophistication of the Senate powder, and a schism now exists among...
