DUNCAN, Okla. — Even before his name became known worldwide — before authorities said he and two other boys killed an Australian college student because they were "bored" — the boy known as "Bug" had changed. His sister saw it; so did family friends: His American Eagle clothes and sweet demeanor were replaced about six months ago by drooping pants, the do-rags, and a vile stream of braggadocio, sexism and racism the 15-year-old unleashed over his social media accounts. In an Oklahoma town of about 23,000 that was 82% white, Bug, who is black, sometimes tweeted things like "90% of...

Australian Christopher Lane was killed on Monday in Oklahoma by three teens, one of whom has said they were just “bored.” The right is complaining that the media is making nothing of the fact that two of the teens were black whereas Lane was white, as opposed to the massive alarm sounded in cases such as white (or white-ish) George Zimmerman killing black Trayvon Martin.

When news of the three teens who went out for a thrill-killing and shot and killed an Austrailian jogger in the back reached former Florida GOP Congressman Allen West, he took to the social media and called out, among others, President Barack Obama. Melbourne, Australia native Christopher Lane, 22, attended Oklahoma’s East Central University on a baseball scholarship when he was senselessly murdered “just for fun.” While Australia’s former deputy prime minister Tim Fischer blames the U.S. for the killing and has called for a boycott, West notes the sound of crickets emanating from the White House — especially after...

Yesterday, CNN was all over the story of three teenagers in Oklahoma who shot and killed a baseball player who was walking down the street just to watch him die. It’s a horrific story, and these teens definitely deserve to fry, but as with every other gun-related story the mainstream media picks up on, it’s being used to demonize the NRA and further the gun control agenda. But consider the following: these teens were too young to legally purchase firearms in the first place. So, in fact, the proposed gun control bill that Democrats still have their panties in a...

Josh Earnest, principal deputy White House press secretary, said he was not familiar with the murder of Australian jogger Chris Lane during Wednesday’s White House briefing. When asked by Fox News chief White House correspondent Ed Henry about the Chris Lane case, Earnest responded, “I’m not familiar with it, actually.” Henry explained the case in brief to Earnest looking for reaction to the Oklahoma shooting death of Lane at the hands of “bored” African-American teens who thought it would be “fun” to kill somebody. “This sounds like a pretty tragic case. I wouldn’t want to get ahead of the legal...

AN Oklahoma court has been told how one of the boys accused of murdering Melbourne baseballer Chris Lane danced and laughed as he was being taken into a police station to be charged. James Edwards, 15, was treating the murder as a joke, District Attorney Jason Hicks told a hearing in the town of Duncan on Tuesday (Wednesday morning AEST). Mr Hicks told the court that Edwards has previously been in contact with police, and that he "an attitude of total disregard for law enforcement" when he was being charged over Lane's death. "He thinks it's funny, and it's all...

A judge has tossed sexy Long Island-born TV news anchor Alycia Lane’s lawsuit against former employer CBS — and possibly crippled her suit against the love-struck co-anchor convicted of spying on her e-mails — after ruling she spun a yarn about a laptop she trashed. Philadelphia Judge Allan Tereshko wrote that Lane’s own testimony about the computer, which might have contained key evidence in her defamation suit against CBS and her former co-anchor Larry Mendte, “casts serious doubt upon . . . her credibility.”

Texas Republican Rep. Ron Paul’s foreign policy outlook isn’t so dissimilar to that of President Obama’s long-time pastor and mentor the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, says Washington Post editorial writer Charles Lane. On “Fox News Sunday,” Lane made the ideological connection between Paul and Wright, who claimed after the 9/11 attacks that “America’s chickens” had come home to roost. “Well, I think one of the amazing things that this all shows that this is the Republican Party might be about to crown the winner of the Iowa caucuses, somebody with the foreign policy views of Jeremiah Wright,” Lane said. “Remember that?...

Gingrich now appears to have picked up the support of shadowy evangelical activist David Lane, a major kingmaker for the Christian Right. Lane, who rarely gives interviews and generally stays out the spotlight, is widely credited with reenergizing the GOP's conservative Christian base after the 2008 election. Lane was instrumental in convincing Rick Perry get in the race earlier this year, and even helped orchestrate The Response prayer rally, the de facto launch of Perry's campaign. But sources who know Lane say he has been distancing himself from Perry as the Texas Governor slipped in the polls. Now Lane seems...

On a windy Monday night, Pete’s Candy Store—a bar in Williamsburg with a railcar-shaped performance space in the back—is crammed to capacity with the thin and the bearded. Almost no one is drinking. The mood is pregame, expectant and nervous. We’re at one of the oddest New York City powwows in recent memory: a panel designed to quell a metastasizing dispute between bicyclists and Hasidic Jews. Except no Hasids are present. For a moment, it looks like the bicyclists will have to debate themselves. At immediate issue is the Bedford Avenue bike lane. It’s the longest in Brooklyn and runs...

Orly Taitz is refusing to pay a $20,000 sanction issued by Judge Clay Land, who is also presiding over the Mark Shelnutt trial. Taitz is the California attorney who filed a motion for Capt. Connie Rhodes. Rhodes attempted to halt her Iraq deployment on the grounds that President Obama’s holding office was not legitimate. Taitz told News 3 that she believes the sanctions were asserted in an attempt to silence her challenge of Obama’s legitimacy. “I really haven’t done anything that would justify the sanction. If anything it is the opposite. The sanction was not justified. It was a political...

Wanted, advice for Small Claims Court regarding defective Lane furniture. Hoping to solicit some advice regarding a small claims court filing I am considering… Two years ago I purchased an Ashley leather Sofa and Recliner from a local furniture store. Immediately after the furniture was delivered I discovered a slit on the side were the seat reclines and notified the store. On the phone, they said that this is easily repairable and sent out a technician. I agreed to the repair because the damage was small and located in an inconspicuous place. However, after the technician evaluated the slit, he...

Lawyer: Suspension recommended for prof. 16 minutes ago A University of Colorado committee has recommended that a controversial professor accused of faulty research be suspended for one year rather than fired, his attorney said. Ward Churchill, a tenured professor of ethnic studies, touched off a national firestorm with an essay that compared some of the 2001 World Trade Center victims to Adolf Eichmann, a key planner of the Holocaust. It was some of his other work, however, that led an interim chancellor of the Boulder campus and an another committee to recommended Churchill be fired. The professor was accused of...
