Deidre Lane also pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiring to commit bank larceny in connection with the 1998 theft of $41,200 from a Wachovia branch on Providence Road in Charlotte. She was sentenced in 2003 to four months in prison.

Say what!?

Maybe the "connection" was very distant, tenuous, or hard to prove in court.

I'm sure that if a man did that to his wife he would get the exact same lenient treatment.

There are a number of public policies these days that are designed to help women who are subject to abuse. All this woman had to do, was call the police and file a report. This guy would have been barred from the home.

She could have filed a restraining order, and filed for divorce.

She did not have to kill him to protect herself.

She gunned the guy down as he entered his own home.

I don’t approve of abuse. If this guy was abusing her, he should have been taken to task for it. He should not have been executed.

Eight years is too short a sentence for someone who lay in wait and executed their spouse. This virtual “open season” on men needs to be seen for what it is.

I remember a phd at stanford walked in to his dissertation advisor’s office and killed him with a hammer. He copped a pleas to second degree murder and was given 7 years. He told the judge it was worth it.
This is not the message that killers should get.

How do you know that? There are plenty of instances of women being murdered despite lengthy attempts to get help from the government.

A lot of guys would rather be dead than have to deal with that every day.

Did she call the police and get him removed from the home for abuse?

Did she get a restraining order?

Did she file for divorce?

If she did those things and he still came through the door, I would be more willing to listen to your argument.

You can’t just level your shotgun at a guy as he enters the shared home and blast his ass back into the last century. This was premeditated murder one.
