A press release by company Russian Helicopters suggests that the Ka-52K helicopter (K stands for korabielny, which means naval), is ready and the first units of the rotor-craft have already been manufactured and are due to undergo a test-flying program. The naval variant can fold its rotor blades for better space management aboard helicopter carriers. The absence of a tail rotor makes the choppers ideal for use on carriers, even though they are slightly taller than their Western counterparts. MOSCOW, May 22 (RIA Novosti) – Talks with foreign partners to purchase Russia’s Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopters will begin in earnest in 2016 or 2017, a representative of Russian arms exporter Rosoboronexport said Thursday. Russia's Mil Design Bureau has briefed military delegations from Arab and other states on an advanced helicopter expected to begin production by 2015. They said the helicopter would feature capabilities for stealth and the downing of fighter-jets.
