'United States Plus One – The Prospect of Puerto Rico as the 51st State'. When HR.2499, the Puerto Rico Democracy Act of 2010 passed the House 223 - 169, it barely gathered a whimper of press. The prospect of America gaining a new state would normally be newsworthy, yet H.R.2499 missed out. Meanwhile, decade old perceptions of Democratic gerrymandering, and opinions based on the 93 and 98 failed plebiscites re-surfaced. Is Puerto Rican Statehood gerrymandering for the Democratic Party? Can America afford another State? Why did Puerto Rico rejected Statehood twice?

Following the U.S. House of Representatives voted on HR 2499- Statehood for Puerto Rico, my Congressional representative Bill Posey (R-FL 15) wrote to me. Rep. I tuned in to Glenn Beck's radio show this morning to hear him telling listeners how down and disappointed he is that not one, NOT ONE media outlet reported on the Puerto Rico Statehood Bill HR 2499 debate that was to be taken up in Congress today. Left unsaid by Glenn was any mention of Faux News, but to my ears, the omission was deafening. It's evident that Glenn's not ready to cut that cord yet. And thank goodness for that, because we need him telling us what's going on. God knows NO ONE ELSE is doing the research...

The MSM hasn't brought up this aspect of the racially biased comments made by Obama in his latest you-tube announcement. But when you look at the groups he is trying to rally for the mid-terms, Aren't they at the bottom of the unemployment hopefulls? Black and Hispanic unemployment is in the 20% to 25%(if not higher) range. He mentioned "Women", yet didn't specify what race. But I am pretty sure all these "WOMEN" have husbands who have lost thier jobs during this Obama Recession. Now wouldn't you think Obama would have to create jobs for these 12 or so Million...

After reading Robert Moon's article in the Conservative Examiner, yesterday and watching the Glenn Beck video you will see how our elected representatives are moving under the cover of smoke and using mirrors to deflect our attention to issues like financial reform. HR 2499, being voted on today, if passed it will force a yes or no vote in Puerto Rico...if passed, the trigger is pulled on the second question....bringing in the "Tennessee Plan" path to statehood. Statehood adds millions of votes, 2 Senators, and more. Its all there.

According to Majority Leader [1] Steny Hoyer (D-MD), the House will vote on H.R. 2499 [2], the Puerto Rico Democracy Act, later this week. The legislation provides Puerto Rico a two stage voting process and makes some non-resident Puerto Ricans eligible to vote on Puerto Rican statehood. This legislation has rigged the process in favor of making Puerto Rico the 51st state and is not a fair way to force statehood on a Commonwealth whose people may not want it. One piece of legislation that is garnering interest is H.R. 2499, The Puerto Rico Democracy Act, introduced in May 2009 by Pedro Pierluisi (D.-Puerto Rico) and coming up for a vote before the House of Representatives next week.
