Mayor Eric Adams’ administration has inked a new emergency $76.69 million contract with the Hotel Association of New York City to provide “last resort” shelter to migrant families Fifteen hotels in Brooklyn, Queens and The Bronx will make blocks of rooms available to asylum-seeking families for up to 28 days under the “vouchering program” running through July. “We’re not going to allow a child or family to sleep on the street,” Adams said during a press briefing Tuesday. The migrant crisis has been a boon to the hotel industry still emerging from loss of business during the coronavirus pandemic. The...

I thought the experience was worth every penny... Here's what staying at the hotel was like....

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar said he understands that discussions are “ongoing” between the owner of a Mayo hotel, that was due to house International Protection applicants, and the Department of Integration. A protest has been taking place this weekend outside the former JJ Gannon’s hotel on Ballinrobe’s Main Street in County Mayo. Protesters say they want assurances from the Department of Integration that plans to house 50 asylum seekers there will not proceed. Mr.Varadkar said he “totally” acknowledges that people locally have concerns and fears and that their fears must be allayed with communication and provided information. Speaking on RTÉ’s This...

Why the cover-up? Workers at the Big Apple’s Roosevelt Hotel migrant shelter abruptly blacked out the windows of its former bar-turned-intake area Tuesday — fewer than 24 hours after The Post exposed that asylum seekers had been sleeping on its floor “for days.” The staffers — wearing “NYC” badges — scrambled to cover up every window and door that offered a glimpse into the hotel’s old Vander Bar, after it was revealed the area is now an overrun intake center for single adult migrants. As the windows were being taped up with black trash bags and sheets Tuesday, a shelter...

Scores of angry residents of Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood gathered at an August 30 community meeting to oppose City Hall’s plans to house several hundred illegal border crossers at the Lake Shore Hotel. The hotel had been a designated shelter in the past, but residents say that the illegals brought with them a host of problems, including loitering, noise, littering, and open drug use and dealing, according to ABC 7. Many residents do not want a repeat of the past issues and spoke out against the plan to bring upwards of 300 migrants to the hotel this week. An emergency...

A luxury Italian hotel has been forced to apologize after it covered a bikini-clad woman in chocolate as part of a dessert buffet — with a teenage girl among the guests left with a sour taste from the “disgusting” display. Federico Mazzieri said he and his 14-year-old daughter were staying at the Voi Colonna Village in Sardinia when a female employee was slathered in chocolate syrup and made to lie on a table of dessert offerings for at least 30 minutes. The HR manager shared a photo to his LinkedIn, writing of his and his daughter’s disgust at the hotel...

Two New York City eateries owned by restaurateur Danny Meyer will shutter this month as the historic hotel they’re housed in clears out to accommodate asylum seekers. The Redbury Hotel, a landmark hotel in NoMad, began housing migrants earlier this month as the city flounders trying to house over 57,000 asylum seekers each night. The Union Square Hospitality Group — run by Meyer — announced Friday that Marta and Maialino (vicino), which are located in the Redbury, will have their last service on August 25, Eater reported. While a spokesperson initially said that the migrants’ makeshift accommodations would not impact...

Scrapping the infamous Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel cost Disney $250 million, the company announced in its quarterly earnings call last week. With only 100 guest rooms, that breaks down to $2.5 million per room for the failed venture. The Galactic Starcruiser in Disney World was billed as a one-of-a-kind “Star Wars” experience. Each two-night booking was meant to feel like boarding a cruise ship in outer space, and guests were given a “mission” involving characters from the most recent “Star Wars” trilogy. It was a gamble on a relatively niche — and expensive — concept. But at about $4,800...

NEW YORK -- Asylum seekers camped outside the Roosevelt Hotel for a second straight night Saturday as the Manhattan relief center is at capacity. Overnight, buses pulled up to the hotel and some asylum seekers were able to spend the night on board. But many waited all day in the heat and rain, without knowing what would happen next. Things got contentious Saturday night with asylum seekers pushing to get inside the hotel while a small group of workers tried to manage the crowd.

A woman who went viral for claiming she found a bag with a bloody 'fetus' in her hotel room last month has had her account discredited. Ásh Whïté posted a video last week complaining about her stay at the Hilton Garden Inn in Tallahassee, while demanding a refund. The Florida mom described how she booked the room while in town for a family reunion, and upon entering, found it uncleaned from a previous guest's stay. In the clip, Whïté narrates footage of her discovering what appears to be a plastic bag filled with human blood from the room's closet and...

A man walked into a five-star Indian hotel and booked a room for one night – then extended his stay by almost two years and allegedly skipped his roughly $70,700 bill when he left. Accused fraudster Ankush Dutta booked a room for a single night at the swanky Roseate House hotel in Delhi on May 30, 2019, but stayed an extra 603 nights and left on Jan. 22, 2021, The Indian Express reported, citing a police complaint. He allegedly left behind unpaid bills amounting to 5.8 million Indian rupees, or over $70,700, the newspaper reported. Management accused the staff of...

For decades, our US military members have been a low priority for Democrats. During Barack Obama’s final months of his second term in office, we reported on a story about how the City of Chicago was forcing a homeless veterans group to vacate a charitable facility located on the South Side of the city where they were fed over 3,000 meals every month, to make room for restaurants and shops that would surround the new “Obama Presidential Center.” “We don’t appreciate being muscled out and put in the situation of having to negotiate from a position of despair,” facility center...

A Florida couple has had their wedding upended after an Orange County hotel — set to take in migrants from New York City — abruptly canceled the rooms she booked for her guests, she told The Post. “We felt discarded, disappointed and angry that they just tossed us aside to make an extra dollar for the hotel. It’s just not right,” Deanna Mifsud, 35, fumed.

Though he's well-known for haunting opposing team's pitching staffs, Dodgers' star outfielder Mookie Betts has opted for alternative living accommodations during their three-game series against the Brewers after hearing too much about one hotel with a ghostly reputation. Instead of joining the rest of the team at the Pfister Hotel in downtown Milwaukee, Betts will be staying with some friends at a rented Airbnb until the team heads back on the road come Wednesday. The luxurious hotel, which ranks as one of the most haunted hotels in the country, opened back in the 1800, and has as much of a...

As you may recall, one part of New York City’s brilliant plan to deal with the flood of illegal migrants being shipped to the Big Apple from our open southern border was to commandeer some of the city’s pricey hotels (at taxpayer expense) and convert them into “temporary” shelters. Two of the businesses appropriated in this fashion are the once-elegant Row NYC in Manhattan and the Watson Hotel in Hell’s Kitchen. I say “once-elegant” because investigative reporters have been touring both of these establishments and finding that they are no longer recognizable. One worker at Row NYC has spilled the...

Border crossers, who arrived on buses from Texas, are still not leaving a New York City hotel where they were placed, for free, by Mayor Eric Adams (D). Instead of shelters, the border crossers are demanding to be set up in “vacant luxury apartments” on Billionaires Row. Last week, as Breitbart News reported, city officials sought to move single male adult border crossers out of the Watson Hotel in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan where Adams’ administration had initially placed them as part of his migrant hotels plan. Many of the border crossers, though, refused to leave and set...
