The Bay Area is expected to have some of the highest tides of the year beginning Sunday, forecasters said. King tides, which usually last up to three days three times in the winter, bring unusually high tides along the coast and bay front, said Drew Peterson, a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Monterey.
