PLEASE READ THIS FIRST. I have a photoshopped .jpg I want to post to Free Republic. But it is something only on my PC, not with a pre-existing web address, which I would already know how to link to. Any help appreciated... Full Disclosure: Or, if anyone has instructions for a low-cost photo hosting site, that'd be a 2nd best.

I now own the American Dream, my own beer refrigerator. I like Bud Light and I like it very cold. I'm playing with the thermostat to see how cold I can get the beer before it freezes. I had a can the other day that was perfect. I opened it up and for the first few minutes I drank an ice crystal or two. The temperature at the top of the fridge is 28 degrees, 25 at the bottom, and I can get it colder. The temperature of the beer is the same as the area of the fridge it...

WASHINGTON, May 31, 2006 – An act signed into law May 29 by President Bush solves a conflict in the tax code by allowing servicemembers who serve in a combat zone to still contribute to their individual retirement accounts, a Defense Department official said here today. The Heroes Earned Retirement Opportunities Act amends the Internal Revenue Code to allow servicemembers to include tax-exempt combat zone pay in determining the allowable income tax deduction for contributions to retirement savings plans, said Army Lt. Col. Janet Fenton, executive director of the Armed Forces Tax Council. The tax code requires a certain amount...

CARACAS, Venezuela (Reuters) - Russia will help Venezuela build plants to make Kalashnikov rifles and ammunition after the United States restricted arms sales to the South American nation, President Hugo Chavez said on Tuesday. Chavez also told a press conference in Quito, Ecuador, that a delivery of 30,000 Kalashnikov automatic rifles was due to arrive from Russia in early June. "The Russians are going to install a Kalashnikov rifle plant and a munitions factory. So we can defend every street, every hill, every corner," he said in remarks broadcast in Venezuela. Washington banned all weapons sales to Chavez's leftist government...
  • Relationship between dpi and pixels, when using digital camera

    05/30/2006 5:41:19 AM PDT · by rudy45 · 4 replies · 242+ views
I have to give someone a digital image. The image is supposed to be 4" x 6" @ 300 dpi. Frankly, I'm unclear how to do so. My camera has several settings, but none of them correspond to 300 dpi. The settings are - 640 x 480 pixels - 1024 x 768 pixels - 1600 x 1200 pixels - 2272 x 1704 pixels How do pixels relate to dpi? Thanks.

State tries to help vets at risk of identity theftFriday, May 26, 2006 By Richard M. Barron STAFF WRITER North Carolina's attorney general wants to make it easier for veterans to protect themselves against potential identity theft. Roy Cooper has asked the legislature to change state law to make it free for veterans to place a security freeze on their credit reports, days after the Department of Veterans Affairs said millions of its records were stolen. It now costs $10 per credit agency to put a freeze on reports, which essentially places a padlock on an account. It costs another...

    Smarter FREEPers than me
Okay, I see Ann Coulter articles talking about Lexis/Nexus searches and hear Rush Limbaugh saying he has does a Lexis search for "thus and such". Do you have to be a millionaire to get Lexis/Nexus? What does it cover? Is it more or less selective than Google or Yahoo! or other search engines? I am relying upon you media savvy and/or academic FREEPers to teach me a thing or two about this mysterious tool. Thanks!RD
  • What do you guys think of gold as an investment?

My wife and I have recently purchased about 11K worth of gold. Our average buy price is at $650 per ounce. We have about another 15K of "mad money" we are not sure what to do with. We both have IRA's and money in some mutual funds. No debts outside of mortgage. This money is not emergency type funds. This is absolute "mad money". But I do not want to sit in a bank for 4%. With everything going on in the world, how safe are the banks anyways?

As some know, I am a first grade teacher. I got GREAT feedback when I asked people for some great suggestions for books about the military for boys. Now I'm writing along the same lines. I'm asking if anyone knows of some good books on an elementary level about sports heroes, especially baseball, for boys. I would like to introduce next year's class to some. I grew up reading about my favorite baseball heroes like Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Jackie Robinson, Babe Herman (he reminded me of myself), Lou Gehrig, Christy Matthewson, even Ty Cobb. Every...

I have both Sonic and Nero for the CD burning. On QuickBooks specifically, it saves in a CD Burning file, when I look at the path it is going to it says C:\Documents and Settings\(my name)\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning....but I can not find "Local Settings or anything beyond that when looking at Windows Explorer. I tried to copy music also and it was not accessible, incorrect function. I can drag things into Nero or Sonic, but then even when I tried doing that with music, it does not play when I put the disk back into the computer or in...

For some, the Internet it has become an addiction, adversely affecting their lives and their family's lives. While not yet defined as a true addiction, many people are suffering the consequences of obsession with the online world, warns Dr. Diane M. Wieland, who treats patients with computer addiction in her practice in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. For some people, the Internet may promote addictive behaviors and pseudo-intimate interpersonal relationships, reports Wieland in the journal, Perspectives in Psychiatric Care. "Such cyberspace contacts may result in cyber disorders such as virtual relationships that evolve into online marital infidelity (cybersex) or online sexually compulsive behaviors,"...
