I need help from the most intelligent people I know, FReepers. I need to determine what tasks are active on my aging Pentium/Win95 box. Something is consuming an inordinate amount of CPU time. Whatever the task is, it doesn't show up in the Task Manager window (CNTRL, ALT, DEL). I suspect virus activity, because it the slowdowns only occur with internet related programs (Netscape, IE, etc.). Norton, McAffee, and ZoneAlarm all active, caught nothing. Boot time is terribly slow. Where do I start digging? Thanks in advance for the replies, especially the comic ones; I could use a little jocularity...

While all of us really love JimRob's new formatting page, it has some limitations. It's great for quick responses like: Go back to DU, CLYMER! It is awkward when what you really want is: Go back to DU, Clymer! And, of course, there is no spelling cheecker. While there are many ways to overcome this, the least of which is becoming an HTML geek, those of us who have been assimilated into the Borg collective probably already have a very convenient tool for formatting simple HTML, namely Microsoft Outlook Express. As you probably know, this is Microsoft's...

My Latitude C800 (Win2k, 1.0 gHz, 256 MB) refuses to boot up. I can't restore them until Windows loads, though. Any thoughts or solutions? EDIT: I looked arount in the Knowledge Base an found an article ( http://support.dell.com/us/en/kb/document.asp?DN=1022061 ) that described how to make a boot disk. Unfortunately I can't access the required files...

Citizen Muckraking How to Investigate and Right Wrongs in Your Community With 6 billion people on the planet and 270 million living in the United States, who can blame anyone for thinking that one person can’t make a difference? But don’t believe it for a second. In two decades as an investigative journalist, uncovering impropriety around the nation and abroad, countless times I have seen individuals persistently ask unpopular but entirely reasonable questions about matters affecting their daily lives: the air they breathe, the water they drink, the food they buy and eat, the schools their children attend. And frequently their...

I'm in the middle of doing a report for my final project in school and I'm basically doing it on the Second Amendment (in opposition to Gun Control laws). I was hoping someone could either tell me, or direct me to a website, or the part of this website, which would tell me, which current members of the Supreme Court are conservative and which are liberal. Thank you!

Whenever I start the computer, the virus, w32.klez.e@mm, takes up all my space on teh C drive and screws my memory over, embedding itself in the C/Windows/Sytem folder. I can't even download virus software to fix the problem. I am EXTREMELY frustrated. I can't even start my e-mail because I don't have enough memory!!!! I do not have any anti-virus software because we had some...
