Hello, lost generation. The Millennials entered the workforce during the worst downturn since the Great Depression. Saddled with debt, unable to accumulate wealth, and stuck in low-benefit, dead-end jobs, they never gained the financial security that their parents, grandparents, or even older siblings enjoyed. They are now entering their peak earning years in the midst of an economic cataclysm more severe than the Great Recession, near guaranteeing that they will be the first generation in modern American history to end up poorer than their parents.
  • Is their party finally over? Spring Breakers who have ignored social distancing and Donald Trump's demands for millennials to stop gathering may have to go home as Florida cities close their beaches and shut bars

Beaches in Florida are finally closing due to coronavirus concerns after local governments took action. Local officials in Clearwater Beach, which appeared earlier this week packed with visitors, voted to close by Monday. Beaches in Naples and in other communities in southwest Florida also were being closed. Meanwhile, new images show wild spring breakers continuing to party on the sand in Miami, despite South Beach's closings there as well, in response to the deadly, flu-like virus, also known as COVID-19.

<p>"OK, Boomer" is currently a common refrain. Will that change with age?</p> <p>It’s a crime punishable by eternal nagging to show up to a family function in a pair of ripped jeans. But ripped denim is such a common style for the majority of young people that we don’t even notice we’re wearing it until a person above the age of 65 comments on it. And without fail, they do, leaving us to sit there and politely nod while making a mental note to never bring this wrath upon our poor legs again.</p>

DONALD Trump's rally in Minneapolis has turned heads after people pointed out that it looked more like a Justin Bieber concert rather than a political meeting. Teenage girls and boys were seen crying tears of joy as the US president talked about his win in the 2016 election to a 20,000-strong crowd in Minnesota. Teenage boys were also seen supporting the US president at the Minnesota rally

As the 2019-2020 school year begins this fall, millions of high schoolers and college students will be heading into an academic rife with politicization and heated classroom discussions. But, how do students truly feel about issues such as socialism, free speech, health care, and illegal immigration? Do these kids aged 13-22, known as Gen Z, feel comfortable sharing their true opinions? Do they even know the basic concepts of what they are discussing? To find out, Young America's Foundation, "the nation’s premier organization for inspiring students on high school and college campuses with conservative ideas," teamed up with Echelon Insights...

Maybe if he'd been born a boomer or a millennial, and grown up with the generational message that you can be whatever you want to be and things will work out, Zack Bauders, 21, would've given more thought to making a living as a professional photographer, like his father. He's certainly got the talent. His work includes a great action shot he snapped of former Navy quarterback Keenan Reynold, mid-stride, his arm cocked for the throw. He also took a moody picture of a nighttime meteor shower over a mountain and a stream, and contributed regularly to local magazines in his...

"We now expect global auto demand to be down 3%," year on year, in 2019, he told clients recently. He is not alone. At bank after bank, analysts are coming round to the idea that the world may have passed "peak car," and that in the future humans will need fewer personal vehicles.

“With Gen Z … we have to show them rather than just talking about it,” said Michelle Jordan, an assistant vice president of HR development and college recruiting. Move over, millennials. The next generation is just starting to make its way into the workforce, and employers are taking note. The first wave of Generation Z, those born after 1996 and more than 60 million strong, will start moving from college to career this year. These newest workers come from the first post-Sept. 11 generation, one that’s grown up with social media and smartphones, watched their parents go through the housing...

Police are investigating a manifesto apparently posted online by the suspect in a San Diego synagogue shooting that left one dead and several others injured. John T. Earnest, 19, was taken into custody without incident following the shooting at the Chabad of Poway Jewish congregation around 11.30am PT on Saturday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. Killed in the attack was Lori Gilbert-Kaye, 60, according to a family friend. The three injured victims were identified as: Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein, who was shot in the fingers; an eight-year-old girl visiting from Israel; and the girl's 34-year-old uncle Almog Peretz,...
  • Harris Poll: Millennials And Gen Z Are Fans Of Socialism (Is Capitalism Redeemable?)

Axios published the results of a Harris poll Sunday which found that Millennials and Gen Z are more “embracing socialism.” Actually, the poll didn’t ask about any particular definition of socialism, it simply asked if respondents would prefer living in a socialist country. Nearly half of Millennial and Gen Z respondents said yes. Does that mean they want the U.S. to be more like Sweden or Cuba? My guess is the former though I’d bet money fewer than 1 in 10 could explain the difference. Most of the rest of the questions were about policy positions including “Abolishing ICE” and...

For years, millennials have scoffed at the notion of fixing someone else’s toilet, installing elevators, or cleaning a patient’s teeth. Instead, they wanted to get educated in lesbian dance theory, gender studies, and how white people and western civilization destroyed the world. As a result, student loan debt has surpassed the $1 trillion mark, the youth unemployment rate hovers around 9%, and the most tech-savvy and educated generation is delaying adulthood. But their generational successors are not making the same mistakes, choosing to put in a good day’s work rather than whining on Twitter about how “problematic” the TV series...

A Houston teenager is accused of shooting dead a fellow teen as part of a weapons-drawing prank that has been spreading on social media, authorities said Thursday. Mohamad Nour Alajil, 18, has been charged with manslaughter in connection to the Dec. 11 slaying of Christian Johnson, 19, officials said. Police believe Johnson's death resulted from the "No Lackin'" challenge, which calls for one person to pull a weapon on another on video to record the reaction, KPRC reported. The challenge stems from the notion that no one should ever be caught without, or "lacking," a gun. Johnson had an AR-15...

DETROIT (WJBK) - A 12-year-old girl from Detroit is in the hospital recovering from severe burns after taking part in a disturbing trend called the Fire Challenge. "I can't help my baby. I can't help her," said Brandi Owens. Brandi is trying to be strong, but can't bear seeing her daughter bandaged from head-to-toe and in intensive care with burns over 49 percent of her body. Timiyah Landers and her two girlfriends were hanging out at her Detroit home on Friday after mother Brandi made them pancakes and went to take a nap. Minutes later, Brandi said she heard a...

Homosexuality is no longer the taboo it once was. But figures suggest that young people are even more open to experimentation than previously thought. Only two thirds of Generation Z identify as solely heterosexual, in stark contrast to previous generations, a study has found. Research by Ipsos Mori found that 66 per cent of young people, aged between 16 and 22, are "exclusively heterosexual" - the lowest figure of any generation. Among millennials, 71 per cent say they are exclusively heterosexual, as do 85 per cent of those in "Gen X", and 88 per cent of baby boomers. The research...

Young people are significantly more likely than the elderly to be lonely and in poor health, according to a new survey conducted by health insurer Cigna. The survey finds loneliness is widespread in the U.S. with nearly half of respondents reporting feeling alone or left out at least some of the time. The evaluation of loneliness was measured by a score of 43 or higher on the UCLA Loneliness Scale, a 20-item questionnaire developed to assess subjective feelings of loneliness, as well as social isolation. The survey of more than 20,000 U.S. adults ages 18 years and older revealed: •...

Schools are removing analogue clocks from examination halls because teenagers are unable to tell the time, a head teachers’ union has said. Teachers are now installing digital devices after pupils sitting their GCSE and A-level exams complained that they were struggling to read the correct time on an analogue clock. Malcolm Trobe, deputy general secretary at the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL), said youngsters have become accustomed to using digital devices. “The current generation aren’t as good at reading the traditional clock face as older generations,” he told The Telegraph.

Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) is a huge part of the Millennial psyche. But while that extends to everything that goes down on social media, this generation doesn’t seem to be worried about missing out on retirement funds. Millennials—or Generation Y—are today’s late teens and twenty-somethings born in the 80s and 90s, and they number some 80 million people in the United States. And because FOMO is the Millennial common denominator, the financial detours are numerous. Thanks to the meteoric rise of social media advertising, Millennials have endless options for spending money, and they account for an estimated $1.3 trillion...
