Here are the biggest cases coming up after Barrett’s likely confirmation: 2020 Election: (mail-in voting deadlines in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and North Carolina; dozens of voting rights lawsuits are still playing out in lower courts, and any post-election disputes that arise) Voting Rights: (ballot harvesting) LGBTQ/Religious Discrimination: (religious exemption) Health Care: (whether the Affordable Care Act should be struck down). Shepard Smith, once a star anchor at Fox News, made headlines last year when he abruptly left the network. Now, his highly anticipated — and heavily promoted — new show at CNBC is falling behind repeats of Fox Business show Lou Dobbs Tonight. Since its launch on September 30, CNBC’s The News with Shepard Smith has presented a sleek hard news program with big name guests like Dr. Anthony Fauci — all while facing a continued decline in viewership.

Persistent use of methamphetamine is the single biggest risk factor for HIV seroconversion among gay and bisexual men, according to a new study published in the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes. Using subjects from across the U.S., including Puerto Rico and Guam, researchers found that over 12 months of follow-up, 14% of study participants reported using meth, and 2.5% tested positive for HIV (115 new infections). More than a third of study participants (36%) seroconverting for HIV were persistent users of methamphetamine.
  • NBC News Opinion: Trump's '60 Minutes' interview underscores America's ongoing manterrupter problem

The entitled male is hard to shut up. Recent displays of infuriating "manterrupting" illustrate how tough it can be to manage the problem. CBS News journalist Lesley Stahl, in her "60 Minutes" interview Sunday with President Donald Trump, was interrupted, talked over, instructed and lectured about how to speak. Despite - or perhaps because of - her unrattled persistence, Trump finally cut her off completely and walked out of the interview early. As every woman who has sat seething through a meeting knows, "manterrupting" is real. Social science studies suggest that men interrupt women 33 percent more than they interrupt...

Going back to (at least) the technocratic and ambitious FDR, American Democrats have believed that federal government eggheads are best suited to manage most things, including mundane things like ensuring healthcare or housing, for everyone. But as a rule, Democrats have always had a very nuanced way of presenting such policies to the American people. In other words, socialists in America have been most successful when they don’t tell Americans that what’s being offered to them is socialism. The old guard of the Democrat party, which Joe Biden represents, has long understood that. The radical Bernie Sanders wing of the...

Tampax has faced a backlash online after saying that 'not all people with periods are women'. The tampon company tweeted in support of transgender people and insisted that 'not all women have periods'. The company said: 'Fact: Not all women have periods. Also a fact: Not all people with periods are women. Let's celebrate the diversity of all people who bleed. But some feminists online accused Tampax's owner, Procter & Gamble, of 'erasing' women with their message. Others praised the company for the inclusivity and show of support to trans people in the tweet. Among those stoking the flames online...

Progressive darling Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on Friday said she believes the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic wouldn't have been as bad as it has been if her vision of a Green New Deal was implemented in the United States. The comment was made during a Zoom call with actress and climate change activist Jane Fonda. "Do you think that had there been a Green New Deal in place in January 2020, COVID-19 would have been much easier to contain and our health care system would have been much more resilient?" Fonda asked AOC. "I absolutely think so, for a lot of...

There’s a ‘growing prevalence of singledom among America’s rising generation of women.’ (LifeSiteNews) — A shocking new private poll shared by one of the country’s leading data scientists claims that 30% of American women under 25 identify as homosexual, bisexual, or transgender. Before looking into the reasons for these numbers, Eric Levitz, in a New York Magazine article about the gender gap between Trump and Biden supporters, calls attention to the continuing rise of “singledom” — a preference for non-married life — among young women in the United States: Neither the societal shift away from traditional gender roles nor the...

This morning, the world has been greeted with headlines proclaiming that ‘Pope Francis blesses gay marriage’. It stems from hysteria related to use of older comments in a new documentary about the pope, entitled ‘Francesco’. As with many other similar instances of controversy in the papacy of Francis, such as the ‘Who am I to Judge?’ fiasco, a mix of Francis’s ambiguous speaking style and deliberate lies by the mainstream media are to blame, though this time there is the added aspect of the strange nature of Frances’s documentary. We must also lay some of the blame at the feet...

PHILADELPHIA - Here in the birthplace of American democracy, election officials are scrambling to prepare for a presidential vote they fear could plunge the nation into a historic political crisis. Philadelphia’s Board of Elections plans to move its counting operations to a 125,000-square foot space in the city’s convention center. Dozens of staffers, feeding expensive new machines to open envelopes and process mail-in ballots, will spend days tallying hundreds of thousands of votes - under intense scrutiny from partisan observers. The workers likely will discard thousands of ballots that are not properly completed or do not arrive in a special...
