NEW YORK — Harry Potter fans, the rumors are true: Albus Dumbledore, master wizard and Headmaster of Hogwarts, is gay. J.K. Rowling, author of the mega-selling fantasy series that ended last summer, outed the beloved character Friday night while appearing before a full house at Carnegie Hall. After reading briefly from the final book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," she took questions from audience members. She was asked by one young fan whether Dumbledore finds "true love." "Dumbledore is gay," the author responded to gasps and applause. She then explained that Dumbledore was smitten with rival Gellert Grindelwald, whom...

A BBC children's presenter has said that "everyone at CBBC is either gay or childless and don't like kids". Kirsten O'Brien, a stalwart of the corporation's programmes for youngsters, made the claim during a stand-up show at the Edinburgh festival. And she added: "Still, at least we're better than Palestinian children's TV, which gets kids to sing songs about AK-47 rifles." Miss O'Brien, 35, has been performing Confessions Of A Children's TV Presenter at the festival and is due to return to filming at the BBC in two weeks' time. Born in Middlesbrough, she now lives in North London with...

The Simpsons has announced plans to feature a same sex "marriage." I think we can all agree that showing this kind of stuff to kids only encourages a lifestyle that is most unhealthy. Showing any sexuality to kids promotes promiscuity in grade school children and this goes a step further. Children should receive their moral education from parents, not from Hollywood. Young minds are extremely impressionable and putting this stuff in a cartoon show targets children by seeking to change their understanding of normal and healthy, something which needs to be left to parents. What's even more dangerous is that...

The New Politically Driven All-American Family SAN FRANCISCO - For 10 years, Bryan Nadeu strutted in the Gay Pride parade as part of a marching band, hammering out a beat on a drum while wearing a rainbow-plumed hat. But that was B.F. - Before Fatherhood. Now, with a 14-month-old toddler in tow, he has other things to worry about while preparing for today's San Francisco parade: Baby backpack or stroller? Will there be diaper-changing stations? And how should he retreat if his child melts at the loud music and crowds? "It's like I'm figuring out how I can be...

Gay-Lesbian Youth Center OpensBy Jerome Burdi STAFF WRITER October 12, 2002 A local gay and lesbian youth group opened a new center in Bay Shore Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a line of local officials and an Episcopalian priest. "We've picked today because it is National Coming Out day," said Robert Vitelli, Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth's director of education, training and policy. "The ribbon cutting is to celebrate the first gay-owned and -operated community center [on Long Island]. This is historic." Before its 4,300-square-foot center on Park Avenue, the group, which is embarking on its 10th anniversary, operated...

CHARLOTTE, NC (AgapePress) - “You can forget trying to persuade the masses that homosexuality is a good thing. But if only you can get them to think that it is just another thing, with a shrug of their shoulders, then your battle for legal and social rights is virtually won.” So wrote Marshall K. Kirk and Erastes Pill in Guide magazine, November 1987. All too often, that battle, promulgated by homosexual activists, is being waged and won in area schools, according to veteran educator Dick Carpenter, Focus on the Family’s education policy analyst. Carpenter told the crowd at a recent...
