The White House condemned a new election security law signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) on Thursday. “Florida is moving in the wrong direction,” Deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said to reporters aboard Air Force One. DeSantis signed the bill Thursday morning which puts limits on ballot box drop boxes, voting by mail, and ballot harvesting, while also enhancing voter ID requirements. “Me signing this bill here says, ‘Florida, your vote counts. Your vote is going to cast with integrity and transparency, and this is a great place for democracy,’” DeSantis said at a signing ceremony for the bill....

Miami-Dade County announced today that it has finished counting votes for the 2018 election. But photos obtained by New Times show scores of mail-in ballots sitting inside an Opa-locka mail distribution center — the same center that was evacuated last month after alleged mail bomber Cesar Sayoc's pipe bombs passed through the facility. Several local activists demonstrated outside both the mail facility and at the Miami-Dade County Elections Department to try to bring attention to the ballots. Two sources who spoke with New Times allege hundreds of ballots might still be inside. Suzy Trutie, a spokesperson for the Elections Department,...

The media didn't talk about it but in the 2000 election contest the Democratic strategy if they couldn't get the vote count to go their way was to tie the results up in the court so that Florida wouldn't be able to field electors. This would have cut 25 electors from Bush's total and given Gore the election. The Florida state legislature was dominated by the Republican party who let it be known that they could appoint the electors and with the Supreme Court decision the Democrats effort to win the election by disenfranchising Florida was shelved. In the primary...

From hurling the vilest of racial epithets at African American children and teens who had volunteered for the Port St Lucie, Florida re-election campaign of Mayor Joann Faiella, to smear attacks on a patriot and Viet Nam War Commander, the behavior of people who disagree with what these candidates exemplify has reached lows that I never witnessed even while living in the Chicago metropolitan and suburban scenes for 40 years. Yes, I’ve been retired here in Florida for over ten years. But knowing the Midwestern mind set I believe in my heart that no such meanness would find its way...

. 2014-01-03 Florida Free Republic Colleagues, This evening I discovered that a great Patriot (endorsed by Col. Allen West) is running for US Congress in Florida's 13 Congressional District. This is the Congressional seat recently opened following the passing of Congressman Bill Young (85) a couple of months ago. Below is information excerpted from Brig. Gen. Mark Bircher's (Ret) campaign website. I would encourage you to BOTH contact and help with his campaign, and if possible, make a MARINE donation. Visit Brig. Gen. Mark Bircher's campaign website. TALLAHASSEE — Florida's new redistricting standards, coupled with the 10-year shift in population, have forced Republicans to do what is rarely done in politics — sacrifice incumbents — and that is not going over well with some Republicans. The possible casualties include U.S. Rep. Allen West, whose Broward to Palm Beach-based district would become more Democratic in every map proposed by both the state House and Senate. Broward Republicans have launched a website — "saveallenwest.com." — and are mounting a campaign to pressure legislators to revamp the maps to make them more in line with what they believe are the...

EAST PALATKA -- U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris said she is getting support in strange places in her fall bid for the U.S. Senate. Harris, the Republican who represents Florida’s 13th District, spoke at a Lincoln Day dinner held by the Putnam County Republican Executive Committee on Saturday night, saying House Democrats have told her they want her to beat incumbent Democrat Sen. Bill Nelson in their race for the U.S. Senate this November. “I’ve had Democrats in the House of Representatives come to me and say ‘You know, we’d really like to take the majority in the U.S. Senate’ —...

According to the source, Planned Parenthood will be at every polling place in Florida. The Amendment No 1 [on the Florida ballot] is Parental Notication for a minor to have an abortion. This is to protect children from child abuse from older predators preying on minors. Planned Parenthood is coming out in force to try to defeat this amendment on the ballot. Some background on Planned Parenthood covering up statutory rape and aiding in child abuse can be found at the Life Dynamics website: http://www.ldi.org/ From this website, at the bottom of the page is the following sting that LDI...

2004 Presidential Election Under the Eye of International Observersby Chris Shugart, 19 Aug, 04When I first learned that the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe had been invited to monitor our presidential election this year, I couldn’t believe it. What happened? Was Franz Kafka suddenly appointed President of the United States?I was angry and confused. Who in their right mind would allow the OSCE’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights meddle in our elections? Didn’t they have something better to do, like maybe monitor elections in, say, Venezuela where their presidential election is, as I speak, being hotly...

"We now know that he (Al Gore) would have won Florida," proclaimed Ronald Prescott Reagan, son of the late President Ronald Wilson Reagan. Ron made this incredible declaration during MSNBC"s Chris Matthews' show, as they reported about former Vice President Al Gore's speech at the Democratic National Convention. When asked by Matthews how does he know this, Ron remarked that there was a "consortium" of newspapers who counted the votes in Florida and determined that Gore would have won. Matthews incredibly confirmed this by saying Gore would have won the election if he requested a statewide vote recount in Florida....

NO 10 Constitutional Amendment article X sect. 19. Limiting Cruel and Inhumane Confinement of Pigs During Pregnancy....yes or no. This is on the Florida ballot!! I am filling out my absentee ballot and saw this and thought it was a joke. It gets explained as "No person shall confine a pig during pregnancy in a cage or crate or tether a pig so that is prevented from turning around freely." There will be a penalty and fine involved.I am not joking! There is also an amendment for smoke-free workplaces that could pertain to your home if you are self employed...

FORT LAUDERDALE - Broward County's new elections chief has asked county commissioners to approve a $1.5 million emergency cash advance to cover the cost of the Nov. 5 election. Joe Cotter told commissioners Monday the elections office is running out of money because Elections Supervisor Miriam Oliphant overspent her budget by $900,000 in the fiscal year ended Oct. 1.

Broward Supervisor of Elections Miriam Oliphant may have to lay off some employees and make other cutbacks in order to balance her books after overspending last year's $6.4 million budget by $900,800. Oliphant already has tapped nearly two-thirds of the $1.4 million she received Tuesday at the beginning of the new budget year. (The fiscal year begins Oct. 1 and ends Sept. 30.) Much of that money -- which is 25 percent of Oliphant's new budget -- was used to pay Sept. 10 primary poll workers. After the November general election, Oliphant's office will have so little money left that...

Miriam Oliphant, supervisor of elections in Democrat-controlled (and, not coincidentally, corruption-plagued) Broward County, Fla., today surrendered most of her duties after botching this month's primary. "I've fallen short in the office when it comes to management," Oliphant admitted to county commissioners. She apologized "for all of the issues that have been out there." But instead of resigning, she will remain on the taxpayers' dole, even though she won't have much to do except count the votes - or attempt to count them. The public will have to pay for a new lieutenant for operations, and the (Democrat-run) county commission will...
