Tuggle said seven cars were set on fire and that the flames spread to two vehicles. Across Baltimore, news of the explosions were one more grim reminder of another violent week in which the city officially passed the 300 homicide benchmark for the fourth year in a row.

On October 16, a North Carolina headquarters of the Republican Party was firebombed , and an abhorrent threat was painted on its outside wall As Democrats, we are starting this campaign to enable the Orange County, North Carolina Republican office to re-open as soon as possible. Until an investigation is undertaken, we cannot know who did this or why. No matter the result, this is not how Americans resolve their differences. We talk, we argue, sometimes we march, and most of all we vote. We do not resort to violence by individuals or by mobs. So, let's all pitch in...

The name of Sheik Mubarik Ali Gilani has been little-known in California, except to a small number of African-American Muslims who follow his teachings, and to law enforcement authorities who have tracked their movements across the state. But two other names are prominent in the history of Gilani's followers here. Abdullah Baqi was once described by law enforcement authorities as the West Coast leader of a dangerous group they called Ul-Fuqra. And an analysis of public records indicates that Baqi was married to the woman now called Khadijah Ghafur, who later founded the community outside Fresno known as Baladullah. ...

"Arson, vandalism, burglary, grand larceny, firebombing, kidnapping, slander, conspiracy, computer crimes, and theft. If you think this sounds like a rap sheet for a hardened, malicious criminal, you would be close. It's your local neighborhood animal lover and tree hugger gone berserk," ex-Senator Malcolm Wallop (R-Wyo.) writes. And columnist Todd Wilkinson notes, "Because involved individuals are anonymous, they could be anyone. Parents, teachers, church volunteers, your neighbor or even your partner could be involved." SHAC, a violent anti-medical research organization that has harassed and beaten individuals linked with Huntingdon Life Sciences, now says it will extend its campaign or terror ...

There is a need to pray for the safety of those attending the 40 Days for Life. These vigils have grown such that they are no longer here in the United States, but Canada as well. The 40 Days for Life campaign now spans as least 3 continents -- North and Central America, Europe, and Australia. On Day 12, there are reports of 101 babies saved. The forces of evil does not like this. So it is not surprising that there was a firebomb thrown at an elderly person in Montana at a 40 Days for Life location. There is...

Congressman Russ Carnahan held a press conference confirming that the person St. Louis police arrested and released for last week's firebombing of his campaign headquarters did in fact work for his re-election campaign. Carnahan did not say the man's name but did confirm that the name Chris Powers made public this morning on a right-wing blog was accurate. According to Carnahan, the suspect volunteered for his campaign in July and was hired this month as a political canvasser -- a job he kept for five days before being let go for "failing to do his job." This afternoon Daily RFT...

When House Speaker Nancy Pelosi joined Minnesota freshman Rep. Keith Ellison for his recent swearing-in ceremony, the controversy over his taking the oath of office on the Quran overshadowed his earlier role in supporting a terrorist whose group tried to kill policemen and allegedly twice tried to murder Pelosi's fellow San Francisco lawmaker Sen. Diane Feinstein. On Feb.12, 2000, Ellison joined Bernadine Dohrn, one of the founders of the 1960s radical group the Weather Underground, and several other speakers at a fundraiser for recently arrested Kathleen Soliah, a.k.a. Hardline clerics said that further attacks would be "inevitable" if publication of the novel, The Jewel of Medina, goes ahead as planned next month. Police moved in to arrest three men moments after a fire broke out at the London home and office of Martin Rynja in the early hours of Saturday. The attack came days after Mr Rynja's company, Gibson Square, bought the rights to the book by the American writer Sherry Jones, which has already been likened to Sir Salman Rushdie's The Satanic Verses. The novel, which focuses on the relationship between Mohammed and his child bride Aisha,...

For all of the national chatter that persists about international terrorists striking the United States, this weekend's firebombings in Santa Cruz offered us a frightening reminder that our greatest dangers may be right here at home. Thankfully, no one was hurt in Saturday morning's firebombs. David Feldheim, a UC Santa Cruz biologist, and his young family escaped an ignition at their own home by climbing down a fire ladder. And there was no one in the Volvo station wagon that was destroyed by a firebomb around the same time. But the perennial nature of these attacks on scientists who conduct...
