My Hewlett-Packard Pavilion 633 Mghz (clock speed) CPU had a Lucent Winmodem which the lightning apparently sent to modem heaven (or hell...depending upon your point of view). Using the childrens' old, slow computer I am now trying to seek technical assistance from a smarter-than-the-tech-support Free Republic member who would be gracious enough to either use the e-mail or this thread to answer the following question(s): What type of modem plug-in (bus?) does the HP Pavilion (model 6735) have and can another modem besides a Lucent Winmodem be used with this computer? Also, what does the term "PCI" refer to? I...

-Are the companies that make and program the machines tamper-proof? -Is the code that runs the machines really 900,000 lines long? -Can the code be tweaked to "shave" votes one way or the other? -Is there a need to reform the system?

I just registered this morning at Free Republic, and I have a question for you if that's okay. I am a moderate Republican, similar to Chris Shays of Connecticut. I supported all of President Bush's tax cuts and stimilus packages, and I support greater deregulation of businesses, medical malpractice reform, and tort reform, but I am socially liberal. I am pro choice, for gay rights, etc. Am I welcome to post on Free Republic?

I want to start my own pink list but I am uncertain how this works. Cany anyone explain it to me please?

Is Free Republic too "Republican?" I've been receiving a lot of complaints lately that FR is not really conservative, it's Republican. Is that a bad thing? When I started FR (see the wayback machine) I don't think I even used the labels conservative or Republican. But, even though I was a registered Democrat at the time (I registered when I was very young), I was definitely anti-Democrat. And definitely anti-big government, anti-government corruption, anti-government abuse, anti-liberalism, etc. And I still am. As FR became more and more popular, people started referring to it as a "conservative" web site and so...

Are there any mom's around here that have actually found a good work at home job for extra money? There are so many scams out there that I don't know what is legit and what isn't. If I can't find a work-at-home job then I'm going to end up with 2 young kids in daycare so I can work fulltime or partime because we really need a second income. I have no college degrees and only graduated High School and no real experience in anything except animals. The animal stuff is just personal experience too, not professional.

What do Sammy and Hillary have in common? They are both liars. Hillary and Sammy both claim that they knew nothing about the errant 'bat' and when they found out boy were they surprised. Sammy is very sorry that his corked bat, allegedly used in practice only got into the game. Hillary says that Bill's 'corked bat' should have have never gotten into the Monica but, well accidents happen. If you are buying her book or Sammy's story you would likely buy anything. Give me a call and send me your money, I will sell you something.

I'm not an alarmist, but let's face it: We live in a far more dangerous world since 9/11. The possibility of a rogue Nuclear strike is a real possibility, and I for one don't want to be unprepared. So, I ask you for your advice: What are the most reputable "nuclear shelter/survival" web sites? What are the least reputable websites? What area of our country is least vulnerable to a strike? What are some tips you would give for basic survival in such a situation. If you are an engineer, scientist, etc., please feel free to post your information. Freepers...

Question, and I may have my facts confused, but are the federal prosecutors in New York, who just indicted Martha Stewart, the same bunch who declined to investigate Hillary regarding her meeting with Bill and the Jewish leaders prior to her receiving their endorsement?

Does anyone know of a sure fire way to get rid of gophers? We have tried poison, flooding and road flares. Tried the "vibration" method with a third horse motor, vibrates the ground 20 feet away, didn't work. Now have 120 volt ac wires connected to two steel stakes spanning the trouble area. Shotgun is out of the question since the gopher is burrowing right by some water lines. Short of searching out Bill Murray, any suggestions? Thanks all.

I can't see but a few posted articles, and none of my personal comments. Down for repairs?

Why would anyone drink Corona Beer? I mean Mexico is not exactly known for producing quality beer in the first place. Yet this is like the dregs of Mexican brews. Its the Old Milwaukee of Mexican Beers. A poor Mexcian farm worker would probably just as soon drink his own urine as drink this concoction. The fact that you need to put a piece of fruit in the bottle to get it down should tell you something. Yet people here pay $7 a six pack for this stuff. Well, I think I know who drinks it. It's the freepers! You...

Why do Liberals feel so morally superior when they have no real morals?

Just out of curiosity, I went over to Newsmax's website to see what was going on on their forum. I can't find it anymore - did they take it down, or is it relocated?

I once found a website that tells of all the bills and legislation and laws that are passed, signed, vetoed, debated on by the President and the Congress and everybody up there in Washington. I went to Whitehouse.gov but is there a special place that you guys know of where I could find the bills that were signed each day. Or the legislation that gets signed every day? Part of the reason for me wanting to find this is that I would like to be more informed of whats going on. This way I will have a better chance at...

How often do people search by relevance first? If I'm a barometer it would be about 1% of the time.
