Gehad El-Haddad, the now-imprisoned former spokesman for the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood’s “Freedom and Justice Party,” was paid by the Clinton Foundation even as he promoted the Brotherhood’s interests as ab adviser to Egypt’s Mohamed Morsi. So reports Patrick Poole at PJ Media. Poole calls Gehad “the Baghdad Bob of the Arab Spring.” According to Poole, while serving Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood government, Gehad incited violence, justified the torture of protesters, recycled fake news stories, and staged fake scenes of confrontation during the 2013 Rabaa protests.

Gehad el-Haddad, a top communications official for the Muslim Brotherhood, was seized by Egyptian security forces over his loyalty to former President Mohamed Morsi. However, it’s his previous job that has Americans concerned. Prior to his stint as a senior Brotherhood official and adviser to Morsi, el-Haddad reportedly served for five years as a top official at the Clinton Foundation, a nonprofit group founded by former President Bill Clinton. El-Haddad was the face of the Muslim Brotherhood and became well-known for supporting the organization’s crackdown on civil liberties in Egypt as part of their Islamist agenda. The son of Morsi’s former foreign affairs adviser Essam el-Haddad, he was the main English-language spokesman for the Muslim Brotherhood. He is also a former employee of the Clinton Foundation. Oops! In 2012, Gehad El Haddad divided his time between volunteering for the Muslim Brotherhood and heading the Cairo office of the Clinton Climate Initiative, but later that year began to work full time for the Muslim Brotherhood.

CAIRO (AP) — An Egyptian court on Tuesday set Feb. 16 as the start date for one of the multiple trials of ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi, this one on charges of conspiring with foreign groups. Egypt's prosecutor general has charged Morsi and other top Muslim Brotherhood leaders with conspiring with militant groups such as the Palestinian Hamas and the Lebanese Hezbollah, as well as with Iran, to destabilize Egypt. Morsi is also accused of orchestrating an insurgency in the Sinai Peninsula to avenge his ouster.
