VAIL, Colo. – Vail police say they are no longer looking for suspects in the case of a woman who claimed someone zip-tied her and tossed her into a dumpster – because they say she made the story up. Linnea Hayda, 31, now faces charges of false reporting to police, tampering with evidence and attempting to influence a public servant in the case. According to police, they’d found Hayda in a dumpster with various injuries around 5:30 a.m. on March 27. They’d originally said her hands and feet were zip-tied, though she had managed to escape from some of them....

A Florida woman is accused of suffocating her 4-year-old daughter and then tossing her body in a dumpster, police said. Tina Farrington, 31, was held without bond Monday at the Miami-Dade County jail on a first-degree murder charge, officials said. According to an arrest report, Farrington told police she was at her home on Halloween night with 4-year-old Tania Paige and another child when she became upset with the girl. Farrington lured Tania and her brother to a bedroom, according to police, and then used a pillow to suffocate her.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A newborn girl was found in a dumpster in north Austin Wednesday morning and now police are trying to piece together what happened. In an afternoon press conference, Austin police said the child is in fair condition. The dumpster was located at the Mira Vista Apartment located at 9601 Middle Fiskville Rd., which is near Rundberg Lane. Austin police say they responded to a check welfare call around 6:55 a.m. after a passerby spotted the infant. A witness who saw the baby tells KXAN the girl still had her umbilical cord attached.

McCRACKEN Co, Ky - The teens who left their baby in this dumpster will serve one-year supervised probation. A judge sentenced 16-year-old Casside Cherry and 18-year-old Trevon Elmore on Thursday. The teens went to trial as adults, because they faced an attempted murder charge. The jury dropped that charge and found them guilty of only class d felonies, so the judge sentenced them as juveniles. That means he couldn't give them more than 90 days in jail. A former U.S. ambassador is being investigated for laundering, according to papers found in a garbage container in Vienna. Zalmay Khalilzad, a former U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan and Iraq, is being investigated for money laundering, and several of his wife's bank accounts have been frozen in connection with the probe. The Justice Department investigation only became public on Sunday, when a blogger found relevant documents in a garbage container used by a state prosecutor's office in Vienna and posted them online. Houston police are investigating a report of a baby found in a dumpster in southeast Houston. Officers were called to the Windmall Lakes Reserve apartment complex at about 8:30am on a report of a newborn baby found alive in a dumpster. A man named Carlos was going through the trash when he heard a noise. At first, he thought it might be an animal, but after further searching discovered the baby in a bag. EMS crews were called the scene.
