Why should such a small number of Americans make so much more money than the rest of us and we have no chance in hell...

A California college student is conducting a social experiment where he’s trying to get his peers to sign a petition in favor of distributing grade point averages to show how the federal government distributes wealth. Oliver Darcy, a recent college graduate, proposes that students with good grades contribute their GPA to their academically sluggish friends. He argues that this is how the federal government takes wealth from the country’s high wage earners and distributes it to the low income earners.

Life originated in a nebular cloud, over 10 billion years ago, but may have had multiple origins in multiple locations, including in galaxies older than the Milky Way. Multiple origins could account for the different domains of life: archae, bacteria, eukaryotes. The first steps toward life may have been achieved when self-replicating nano-particles initially comprised of a mixture of carbon, calcium, oxygen, hydrogen, phosphorus, sugars, and other elements and gasses were combined and radiated, forming a nucleus around which a lipid-like permeable membrane was established, and within which DNA-bases were laddered together with phosphates and sugars; a process which may...

PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI -- International relief organizations backed by American soldiers delivered hundreds of tons of rice to homeless residents of the Haitian capital Sunday, laboring to ease a food shortage that has left countless thousands struggling to find enough to eat. But even as food-aid workers enjoyed their most successful day since the Jan. 12 earthquake, the increasingly prominent role of U.S. troops and civilians in the capital is creating high expectations that the Obama administration is struggling to contain. The needs are extraordinary, and the common refrain is that the Americans will provide. "I want the Americans to take...

No, this has nothing to do with liberals or conservatives or socialism or any of the other crap that we are used to hearing. I present to you a video of one, Dr. Edwin Vieria Jr, a Harvard educated expert in the matters of money and how money works in America. It is becoming apparent to me as I explore in more detail some of the profound historical changes that have taken place in America and their root causes. Somehow, it all tends to lead to the exact same source. While we can certainly discuss until the cows home the...

I recently attended the Evergreen Leadership Conference in very liberal (at least the "Left" part of the State) Washington State. One of the speakers succinctly and accurately summarized the real war happening on America's political landscape. It struck me that those of us on the Right have not clearly understood, or been able to articulate the real conflict between the Right and the Left. However, the Left, clearly understands the war and their mission that they're fighting, which is: TAXPAYERS VS. TAXTAKERS!

TIKRIT — Standing on the banks of the Tigris River, most Americans would not believe any clean water would be produced from the fast moving khaki colored water -- this is, however, the main source of water for Iraq. Coalition forces and Bayji Provincial Reconstruction Teams (PRT) recently investigated how water from the Tigris ends up flowing out of the faucets of local Bayji homes In Bayji, obtaining potable water is like anywhere else--a necessity. Unfortunately for some Iraqi families, usable water is not readily available. The Salah ad-Din provincial leadership, Coalition forces and PRTs are working to change this....

Pipeline companies are like Punxsutawney Phil on groundhog day. If there’s a shadow of doubt, the pipeline goes back inside to the drawing board. While prices have collapsed to nearly one-third of their 2008 summer peak, the pipelines that carry oil to their users continue to move cautiously towards as much construction of new shipping capacity as still growing Alberta production volumes will support. Both TransCanada Corp. and Enbridge have bold plans to carry oil sands output to markets in the United States that need imports. The National Energy Board has already approved the Keystone, Alberta Clipper and Southern Lights...

I have read the IRS info on 401K distributions (http://www.irs.gov/retirement/sponsor/article/0,,id=151926,00.html) but I'm still not sure I've got my answer. If I don't care about paying penalties or getting taxed on it as income, can I cash out the balance of my 401K? I know I can get a loan for 50% of it, but that's not the question. And I don't care to hear what a bad idea it is based on the penalties and taxes. I simply want to know if I CAN cash it out while I'm still employed? It's my money I don't see why I shouldn't...

China Defends New Curbs on the Sale of Wire News By JOSEPH KAHN BEIJING, Sept. 14 — Chinese officials on Thursday promised that new rules restricting the sale of foreign wire service news would not affect press freedoms. But they also strongly defended efforts to control the distribution of financial and economic news inside the country. The New China News Agency, China’s main government news agency, also known as Xinhua, issued regulations on Sunday that would make it the gatekeeper, and presumably also the revenue collector, for all kinds of reports from news agencies sold in China. The regulations threaten...
