My eyes are getting worse and I increase the font for easier reading, but it seems to me, I might also benefit from a bolder or blacker font.Can that be done ?

It turns out there is a browser extension that can help prevent people from going blind from staring into web pages that show grey print on a white background. The extension is called dark reader and it lets you see web pages as white print on a black background. That combined with darkish browser themes seems to fix most of the problem...

No matter what I try, I can't get my screen background to be a black background. I'm 74 years old with cataracts and the white background just washes out the foreground text. Is there any way to make a dark background? No matter how I change my computer settings, Freerepublic still has a white background.
