Dan Abrams, apparently still smarting from the castigation he received in April from Karl Rove, just cannot let go. Despite the fact that the "high level" Republican operative, Jill Simpson, who accused Rove of orchestrating the prosecution of convicted Democrat former Alabama governor, Dan Siegelman, never actually met nor talked to Karl Rove and whose "high level" operative activities in her own words never rose above typical volunteer work, Abrams continues to wander into the swamp created by this much less than credible source. On Thursday, Abrams and Catherine Crier were salivating with glee on MSNBC's Verdict over the prospect that the House...

April 13, 2008 Mr. Dan Abrams MSNBC 30 Rockefeller Plaza New York, N.Y. 10112 Dear Mr. Abrams: On April 7th, you again devoted a substantial part of your show to the claim of former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman that I was behind his prosecution. Your continued coverage of this issue raises questions about your journalistic standards and those of MSNBC and NBC. During your broadcast, Mr. Siegelman referred to Ms. Dana Jill Simpson as a “respected Republican political operative,” a reference it seems you accept because of the frequent attention you give her in your broadcasts. Have you, during...

An MSNBC staffer was waterboarded on the Dan Abrams Live Show on MSNBC Monday night in order to demonstrate that waterboarding is certainly torture. The waterboarded staffer seemed to be struggling and quite uncomfortable but between pours there were no anguished screams. There has been no further word about the staffer's condition and apparently he has survived. An invited expert, and ex Navy Seal delivered an opinion that waterboarding seemed like torture, but also revealed that all Navy Seals as well as all elite troops are waterboarded to be forewarned as to what such treatment would be. Abrams made the...

by Mark Finkelstein August 25, 2006 - 18:42 The New York Times might be thankful that it is not on trial with Dan Abrams serving as prosecutor. The impassioned argument he made against the journalistic value of the Times' lengthy account of the Duke rape case in today's paper, Files From Duke Rape Case Give Details but No Answers, might have sent the paper to the Big House for years to come. Interviewed by Tucker Carlson, Abrams, who until taking over as head of MSNBC had his own justice-oriented show on the network, came out guns ablazin'. "I thought it...

The 40-Year-Old Virgin Executive By BILL CARTER If NBC's selection of Dan Abrams, an on-air anchor, as the new day-to-day boss of MSNBC left employees of that all-news cable channel gasping in shock — and it did — the next steps in the reshaping of the long-struggling network are likely to generate at least a few low whistles of surprise. Mr. Abrams, in an interview at the MSNBC headquarters in Secaucus, N.J., acknowledged that he was still in the learning stages of his new job. At the age of 40, he's taking his first management post in television, where he...

CARLSON: So, what do we know about what he as a person thinks? I mean, do we—are there any insights into his personal judicial philosophy? ABRAMS: You know, we know a little bit. We‘ve seen opinions that he‘s written for the past couple of years. But, even on criminal law issues, they haven‘t been uniformly conservative. I mean, I was reading up on one case where a criminal defendant was convicted of fraud. And he joined with a—he joined with an unlikely alliance in that case, which wouldn‘t be the ordinary case. I mean, he took on someone else who‘d...

I can't bear to watch even 5 minutes of Dan Abrams on MSNBC. Though a lot of the talking heads on MSNBC are lame, Dan Abrams take the cake. He acts like he thinks his arguments are brilliant but he sounds like a cocky kid. No wonder MSNBC's ratings are in the toilet. Grrrrrrrrr. I am probably preaching to the choir here but I had to get that off my chest.

November 26, 2003 MSNBC Is Clearing Out a Slot in Prime TimeBy JIM RUTENBERG SNBC is reshuffling its lineup again to clear the way for a star, so far unidentified, it hopes to introduce in prime time in the coming weeks, according to a memorandum made available yesterday. Erik Sorenson, the president of MSNBC, said in the memorandum to his staff that he was moving "The Abrams Report" to 6 p.m.. from 9 p.m. weekdays. It had been at the later hour since major combat in Iraq ended but that time slot was supposed to be a temporary berth. The...

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Jesse Ventura is not headed for primetime on MSNBC, the network announced on Thursday. Instead, the former independent governor of Minnesota will host a weekly Saturday show this fall from Minneapolis and serve as a political analyst for all of MSNBC's programs. He will also host a weekday radio show. MSNBC will keep its current primetime lineup intact with "The Abrams Report" remaining in the 9 p.m. time slot. Hosted by NBC News' chief legal correspondent Dan Abrams, the show gained 13% in viewers in July from June, the only cable news program to do...

Posted Monday, April 21MSNBC Sets Postwar Programming MSBNC has taken another step in its transition to postwar programming. The cable network declared that stand-alone shows hosted by legal correspondent Dan Abrams and editor-in-chief Jerry Nachman don't "make sense going forward." In an internal e-mail, MSNBC President Erik Sorenson said both men would remain on-air contributors -- Mr. Abrams as a daytime anchor and correspondent on crime and legal stories and Mr. Nachman "as a kind of Eric Sevareid/Jeff Greenfield voice on media, politics and law enforcement stories and issues." Mr. Sorenson said the staffs of both shows are being redeployed...

The story of a real American hero These days we seem to be fading back to that pre-9/11 habit of calling everyone from athletes to minor do-gooders, heroes. My definition of a true hero is someone who knowingly puts his or her safety or life on the line to help others. And so, when I read in "The New York Times" about the death of Medal of Honor winner James Hendrix, I thought to myself, that guy defines the term. It was June of 1944, World War II. U.S. forces surrounded and under fire, at the Battle of the Bulge...
