Twelve Russian officers are thought to have been killed in a single rocket strike as Ukraine's armed forces inflict punishing losses with American-supplied weapons. The attack targeted a command post in at Chornobaivka Airport, near the occupied southern city of Kherson, and is rumoured to have killed at least one general and one colonel. It is thought to have been carried out using US HIMARS rockets. Video shows what appears to be an ammunition dump at the base exploding, as Russian Telegram channels report Putin is infuriated at the inability of Russia's S-400 anti-air systems to protect his armed forces....

Remember this "exclusive" story in the Daily Star about "general Pavel", who was supposedly "dragged out of retirement" by Putin and sent to Ukraine? So yeah, turns out that's total bullshit.@Lotte_Lambrecht and I found out who's _actually_ in this photo. Follow along!1/ The Daily Star quoted an anonymous "senior intelligence source" for the article. It was picked up by virtually every other tabloid in the UK and by a lot of international newspapers. In Belgium @HLN_BE also ran the story: archive.ph/166h92/ Reverse Image Search didn't reveal much, apart from the fact that the earliest online version of the photo...

Walmart board chairman Greg Penner, who has donated over $640,000 to political campaigns since 1999, had back-channel talks with Hunter Biden in 2018 and 2019 to set up Joe with Republican former Ohio governor John Kasich for a bipartisan presidential ticket. The plot, revealed in text messages, emails, and a phone call recording on Hunter's abandoned laptop, gives an insight into political strategies the president considered in an attempt to win the White House.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had such expensive tastes that he demanded gifts in the form of cigars to dip into Cointreau liqueur, a Jerusalem court heard today. Netanyahu is undergoing a blockbuster corruption trial on charges of fraud and breach of trust for allegedly accepting luxury gifts from billionaires Arnon Milchan and James Packer worth hundreds of thousands of pounds, advancing the former's various interests in return. An aide to the two billionaires testified that she had been ordered to buy cigars and Cointreau - among other items - to satiate the former prime minister and his wife...

Ukraine's armed forces say they have struck a Russian navy tugboat in the Black Sea with two Harpoon missiles - the first time Kyiv has claimed to have hit a Russian vessel with the Western-supplied anti-ship rockets. Ukraine's Armed Forces Strategic Communications Directorate published the information on the Telegram app, alongside a video purporting to show the strike from the air. It shows what is thought to be an anti-ship missile striking the tug Vasily Bekh at 4am as it delivered soldiers, weapons, and ammunition to hotly-contested Snake Island. Ukrainian sources later claimed ten sailors on the tug were missing...

Progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez refused to say whether she will support President Joe Biden's 2024 re-election bid during a Sunday television interview. The New York Democrat was grilled on the issue by CNN State of the Union host Dana Bash but would not give a straight answer, instead insisting she was fixated on November's midterm elections. The 79-year-old president 'is seeking a second term,' his friend and ally Senator Chris Coons said on Fox News Sunday.

A group of 26 activist organizations and NGOs signed a letter to companies who advertise on Twitter, warning them to reconsider if Elon Musk makes changes. Musk has pledged to lift the 'censorship' of Twitter: critics worry that he will give free rein to those trafficking in hate speech and dangerous scientific theories. The letter writers said that Musk 'will further toxify our information ecosystem and be a direct threat to public safety' They wrote: 'Twitter risks becoming a cesspool of misinformation, with your brand attached.' Musk replied, wanting to know who was behind the 26 groups signing the...

[Musk] wrote: 'Suspending the Twitter account of a major news organization for publishing a truthful story was obviously incredibly inappropriate.' Musk was referring to the suspension of the New York Post's account for its exclusive about Hunter Biden's laptop in the run-up to the 2020 election. Initially dismissed as 'misinformation' by liberal outlets and social media networks, the laptop and its contents have since been verified by many of the same publications. Gadde - who's described as Twitter's 'moral authority' - broke down in tears on Monday, Politico reported. She did so while briefing her team via videolink on the...

Elon Musk's purchase of Twitter will see substantial changes implemented on the social media platform with everything from longer tweets and paid subscriptions using 'joke' cryptocurrency Dogecoin all within the realm of possibility. He is said to favor temporary 'timeouts' for users who break the new rules, rather than permanent bans such as those given to Donald Trump. . . . Details of his immediate plans are slim, but the Tesla chief portrays himself as a free-speech absolutist. Other mooted changes include blue verification checkmarks for anyone who subscribes to Twitter's premium Blue service, which costs $2.99 a month.Musk is...

Vice President Kamala Harris quickly learned not to come between President Biden and his negotiations with Congress, when the president once snapped at her so harshly even Republican senators in the meeting were shocked. In a meeting last May, Biden tried to persuade Republican lawmakers to support $1 trillion in infrastructure spending. And while Biden was ready for a compromise, Harris thought the bill was skimpy. 'Harris thought that there was something missing from the conversation,' New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns wrote in their book, This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America’s...

I am a Latina and the former Democratic majority leader of the California State Senate. The first woman to ever hold that position. I represented one of the most Latino and Democratic areas in California: East L.A., the birthplace of the Chicano youth walkout over racism in education in the 1960s. Yet I, too, am on the brink of leaving the Party and the roots of my disillusionment run deep. Latinos largely embrace the American Dream. We know how to hustle, to work hard, to believe that 'si se puede.' According to the Small Business Administration, as of 2021 there...

A Republican-proposed bill in Tennessee would remove the age limit for when couple's could exchange wedding vows and clear the way for 'common-law marriages' between 'one man and one woman.' Representative Tom Leatherwood, 65, of Arlington, introduced the bill into the state's House that would eliminate the current age requirement of 17 and allow for 'alternative forms of marriage' to those who 'conscientiously object to the current pathway to marriage.' 'So, all this bill does is give an alternative form of marriage for those pastors and other individuals who have a conscientious objection to the current pathway to marriage in...

A blind psychic who correctly predicted the Russian invasion of Ukraine as well as the 9/11 attacks once claimed that president Vladimir Putin is to become 'Lord of the World'. Known as the Nostradamus of the Balkans, Baba Vanga, who died 25 years ago in 1996 aged 84, predicted in a 1979 interview that Russia was to dominate the world. She also made a frightening prediction about World War Three and the potential use of nuclear weapons. During the interview with writer Valentin Sidorov, she said Putin's 'glory' will remain 'untouched'. Known as the Nostradamus of the Balkans, Baba Vanga,...

After Vladimir Putin sent the Russian army into Ukraine, there was a plethora of reports — some attributed to 'U.S. intelligence' — claiming that the occupant of the Kremlin had 'gone mad', or was 'ill'. Dismissing such speculation, I wrote here that Putin had not lost his marbles, and was the same gangster that he had always been: 'As for being ill: does he look frail, doddery, or even confused? I don't think so.' Unfortunately, these are legitimate questions to be asked of President Joe Biden, the leader of the free world, during the most dangerous tension between East and...

Mark Meadows, former Trump administration chief of staff who pushed the debunked claims that the 2020 election was stolen, registered to vote in a rusted tin-roofed mobile home where he has apparently has never lived, according to a new report. If that is true, the ex-North Carolina congressman might have committed voter fraud, according to The New Yorker magazine. Neighbors of the mobile home in Appalachia listed on Meadows' voter registration said they have never seen the politician there, magazine scribe Charles Bethea reports. When he quit his elected position to join the Trump administration, Meadows sold his property in...

Saturday Night Live used its cold open to raise funds for the war effort - only it was Donald Trump, portrayed by James Austin Johnson, manning the phones in support of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, serenading the dictator with 'I love you, Vlad.' Laura Ingraham, played by Kate McKinnon, and Tucker Carlson, played by Beck Bennett, hosted the 'FOX News Ukrainian Invasion Special' for the 'babies' - 'the sugar babies of Russian oligarchs.' 'Who will pour vodka in their mouths? So many horny mouths to feed,' McKinnon said. 'So many horny mouths to feed.'
