I am a Latina and the former Democratic majority leader of the California State Senate.
The first woman to ever hold that position.
I represented one of the most Latino and Democratic areas in California: East L.A., the birthplace of the Chicano youth walkout over racism in education in the 1960s.
Yet I, too, am on the brink of leaving the Party and the roots of my disillusionment run deep.
Latinos largely embrace the American Dream.
We know how to hustle, to work hard, to believe that 'si se puede.'
According to the Small Business Administration, as of 2021 there are an estimated 4.65 million Latino-owned companies in the U.S., making Latino business owners the fastest-growing segment of this community, up 34% in the last 10 years.
But instead of pursuing policies that reward hard work, Biden's gratuitous COVID relief spending has stoked inflation that is making it harder to earn a living.
Latinos are also not about to abandon our mothers to now label them as birthing people.
We even have two celebratory Mother's Days.
Call our language sexist, but we don't care.
Spanish is a gendered language that has existed for centuries, and we are not about to redefine ourselves with an 'x' to appease some out-of-touch college kids, who thought 'Latinx' would be less offensive to them.
Latinos are very family-oriented, and while we have increasingly embraced change and confronted machismo in our culture, we are not interested in shoving explicitly sexual education in the faces of our ninos and ninas in their earliest school years.
But those of us who reject these ideas risk being labeled as 'homophobes,' 'right-wingers,' 'Neanderthals' or 'the brown face of white supremacy' by the intolerant woke.

I heard this morning that a lot of the ‘immigrants’ seeking assylum that crossed the border very recently were from Venezuela.
I wonder how many of them think socialism is the answer.
“Yet I, too, am on the brink of leaving the Party...” Yeah, proud latinx, get back to us when you actually do leave them and loudly denounce the assclowns you’ve loved for too long. Waiting.......
The left has a history of going too far.....
They broke policing and crime is running rampant
They broke the border and chaos has ensued
They are breaking the economy
They are breaking what we always considered our cultural norms
We will see if there is a severe backlash in November and I feel optimistic about it. Even the leftist media is waking up to some troubling numbers regarding public opinion.
Many of these people are FLEEING socialism... what makes democrats think they want it here?
Because Spanish is a “gendered” language the whole leftist attack on gender norms has backfired on the dems.
A good preview was how “Latinx” went over like a Osmium Balloon ( Osmium is denser than lead ) .
“There’s nothing Democrats can do to stop Latinos from abandoning Biden....”
I’m not so sure about that given their plan is to import millions of illegals in hopes of turning them into democratic voters.
All they have to do now is give ‘em all free crap on the taxpayer dime to pay ‘em off and presto...instant dem voter.
Can’t vote because they’re illegals you say?.....better think again.
The ones being taken to DC probably already have voter cards.
I never thought of that angle-—that Spanish is a gendered language.
I am Puerto Rican and that makes me an American. I am not ‘Latinx’ or “brown”. I am of Andalusian-Roman ancestry. That’s it.
For decades the Bush League Republicans have been lying to us that amnesty was the only way.......
That IS unbelievable when Gloria Romero goes off the rez
The worst thing you can call a Mexican guy is Homo. So she’s not kidding. If the Newsom/Pelosi/Brown mafia ever thought they could jam that crap down the throats of Los Indigeanos, they really are nuts...
But lemme know when Romero wants to cancel Affirmative Discrmination against WASPs. Our kids can’t get into the schools our people built and paid for because the Romero’s have rabidly demanded preferences instead of trying to play the game straight up. Until then, their little cultural problem with the Rat Overlords is just that.
Proud to say we are so far from the black community that votes in a giant block. Hispanics do not vote in a large block. We will not stay with someone who continues to do us wrong over and over again. The democratic party is gonna pay dearly for their sharp swing left.
They are p!ssed off because they know they are paying for America’s idle permanent underclass to sit around while many Latinos work low-skill, low-wage jobs. If they want to send money back to family in another country, they have to work (legally or off the books); they watch plenty of Americans do nothing and get paid.
This is why the pinkos are using what are supposed to be schools to brainwash their children.
Meanwhile I am happy that the woke dims are alienating Hispanics at a light year pace. Destroying the economy; insulting their family, cultural, societal, and religious backgrounds; trying to trans or groom their children, and leaving a deadly swath of violent crime ripping through their neighborhoods. And if you did not notice, that describes everyone.
Oh please. All Creepy Joe and the democrats have to do is promise the “latino” community more government cheese.
Of course there is always room for growth but if we have any sense we will appreciate and reinforce the degree of change already occurring. The stupidest thing we can do is not to appreciate that change takes time, and not welcome these patriots of proud Hispanic and American heritage.
Will our FR Daily mail propaganda experts refute this?
I wonder if the “white Latinos” will vote dem..
Once a while ago time ago I worked with a very brilliant russian scientist. (Actually several of them)
One day he came to my office with an impassioned plea that i vote for Hillary since he was not allowed to vote.
I was shocked, but it made me rethink some things
Love what this woman says. She speaks truth and it’s very encouraging to hear Latinos have “had enough” of Brandon.
