What's wrong about this photo? Or if you're a true-born Southerner, what's right? While scanning through some of the up and coming movies in 2005, I ran across this intriguing title; "CSA: Confederate States of America (2005)". It's an "alternate universe" take on what would the country be like had the South won the civil war.Stars with bars:Suffice to say anything from Hollywood on this topic is sure to to bring about all sorts of controversial ideas and discussions. I was surprised that they are approaching such subject matter, and I'm more than a little interested. Some things are better left...

A sophisticated computer hacker had access to servers at wireless giant T-Mobile for at least a year, which he used to monitor U.S. Secret Service e-mail, obtain customers' passwords and Social Security numbers, and download candid photos taken by Sidekick users, including Hollywood celebrities, SecurityFocus has learned. Twenty-one year-old Nicolas Jacobsen was quietly charged with the intrusions last October, after a Secret Service informant helped investigators link him to sensitive agency documents that were circulating in underground IRC chat rooms. The informant also produced evidence that Jacobsen was behind an offer to provide T-Mobile customers' personal information to identity thieves...

Men's News Daily, one of the most popular Web sites for commentary and news, has been hacked by a group calling itself "Rebellious Fingers Brazilian Defacement Crew." The conservative Web site has ben replaced by a Web page from the presumably Marxist hacker group. In recent years, many leading conservative Web sites, including towhnall.com, lewrockwell.com, and the no longer in business toogoodreports.com, have been hacked by leftwing groups. Mens News Daily editor-publisher Mike LaSalle has not responded to queries as to the duration or source of the attack, or when the site might return to service.

Putin: Ally or Terrorist? by William F. Jasper Counting Vladimir Putin as an ally against terrorism ignores his career in the murderous KGB/FSB and his ongoing support for terrorist regimes and organizations. ‘‘Lena Goncharuk, aged 38, said that she was the only one to survive out of a group of six who were ordered out of the cellar where they had been hiding and shot at point blank range. Resting in her hospital bed, her voice barely rising above a whisper, she said she had survived only by pretending to be dead." So reported Paul Wood from the Chechen border...

PALM BEACH, Florida -- A new computer chip promises to keep police guns from firing if they fall into the wrong hands.

The tiny chip would be implanted in a police officer's hand and would match up with a scanning device inside a handgun. If the officer and gun match, a digital signal unlocks the trigger so it can be fired. But if a child or criminal would get hold of the gun, it would be useless.

Memo From: Chairperson, Ideological Purity Task Force, Democratic National Committee To: Democratic presidential candidates Re: Confederate flags and other matters Folks, I'm afraid it's time to remind you of the old maxim that Republicans look for converts, and Democrats look for heretics. Let's keep those home fires burning! I know Howard Dean has learned the most important thing about this broad, diverse, tolerant, multicultural party of ours: If you're not like us, we don't want you. [snip] With a little effort, we can put forth a progressive, enlightened message that will cause all wrong-thinking people to abandon their errors and...

The South's unconditional surrender in 1865 apparently was unacceptable to today's Neo-Confederates. They'd like to rewrite history, demonizing Abraham Lincoln and the federal government that forced them to remain in the awful United States against their will. On top of that, now they are opposing the U.S. Navy's plan to bury the crew of the CSS H.L. Hunley under the American flag next year. The Hunley was the first submarine to sink an enemy vessel. In 1863, it rammed and fatally damaged the Union warship USS Housatonic with a fixed torpedo, but then the manually driven sub sank on its...

Al-Jazeera is Now on the Air...Maybe Not Since that moment - just a few weeks ago at the time of this writing - Al-Jazeera has faced quite a struggle. Its DNS was hijacked, so that visitors to the Web site were redirected to a Web page featuring an American flag and the words "Let Freedom Ring!" It was knocked offline due to a denial of service attack. Its inital hosting company, DataPipe, dropped the site, forcing it to move to Akamai. Finally, Akamai ended its hosting contract with Al-Jazeera, without offering a clear explanation. Since then, the news site is...
