Colin Powell, 84, died Monday morning due to complications from Covid-19. Powell was fully vaccinated against the virus, his family said in a statement. Powell was elderly, a known risk for severe Covid, and suffered from multiple myeloma, a blood cancer that studies show can make the shots less effective. A study published in late July found that only 45% of patients with active multiple myeloma developed an "adequate" immune response after getting vaccinated with either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines. Just 22% of patients in the study had a "partial" response.... Offit said fully vaccinated people with weak immune...

Abstract Background: Post-vaccination myopericarditis is reported after immunization with COVID-19 mRNA-vaccines. The effect of accidental intravenous injection of this vaccine on the heart is unknown. Methods: We compared the clinical manifestations, histopathological changes, tissue mRNA expression and serum levels of cytokine/chemokine in Balb/c mice at different time points after intravenous(IV) or intramuscular(IM) vaccine injection with normal saline(NS) control. Results: Though significant weight loss and higher serum cytokine/chemokine levels were found in IM group at 1 to 2 days post-injection(dpi), only IV group developed histopathological changes of myopericarditis as evidenced by cardiomyocyte degeneration, apoptosis and necrosis with adjacent inflammatory cell infiltration...

Teenage boys are six times more likely to suffer from heart problems from the vaccine than be hospitalised from Covid-19, a major study has found Children who face the highest risk of a “cardiac adverse event” are boys aged between 12 and 15 following two doses of a vaccine, according to new research from the US. The findings come as Professor Chris Whitty, England’s chief medical officer, prepares to advise ministers on whether there is a wider benefit to society from vaccinating children. Last week, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) delivered its long-awaited verdict, saying the “margin...

The Food and Drug Administration’s “full authorization” for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for Covid-19 was announced with a fair amount of hooplah and fanfare. The President of the United States announced the monumental development and touted it as rationale for the vaccine mandates to commence in the private sector, throughout the government, and in the U.S. military. President Joe Biden was on the spot Monday morning with a quick reaction to the FDA’s “full authorization” of the Covid-19 vaccines. But a closer examination of the “full authorization” documents has some Americans feeling deceived. There is the matter that Pfizer-BioNTech still appears...

A new study published in JAMA shows 1 in 100,000 people had vaccine-related myocarditis and 1.8 in 100,000 people had pericarditis — compared to the CDC’s data that 4.8 people per 1 million suffer myocarditis after receiving a COVID vaccine. U.S. public health officials claim cases of myocarditis and pericarditis following COVID vaccination are rare — but new research published online in the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA) shows they may happen more often than reported. Post-vaccine myocarditis and pericarditis also appear to represent two “distinct syndromes,” Dr. George Diaz, with the Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, told Medscape...

According to a new study in Israel, an astonishingly low number — 0.06% — of people who have received the second round of the Pfizer COVID vaccine reported “sick” — and none of them seriously: New data released by the Maccabi Healthcare Services has confirmed the effectiveness of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine. As of Thursday, only 254 individuals out of the 416,900 [0.06%] who were already a week after the second Pfizer shot – the time where the immunity is considered to kick in – got infected with the virus, the organization reported. Moreover, those who were found to be...

Current practice in the United States is to administer two doses of Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines three to four weeks—which is the interval the drugmakers used in their clinical trials...drugmakers chose this interval "to rapidly prove efficacy in clinical trials," not because they were trying to assess "the optimal way of using the vaccines to quell a pandemic." And while this "three- or four-week follow-up is safe and effective, there is no evidence it optimizes either individual benefit or population protection..." "A single dose of an mRNA vaccine is 80% effective and durable for 12 weeks," whereas the full two-dose...
