Newly sworn-in Rep. John Rutherford (R-Fla.) suffered an apparent heart attack and collapsed during a vote series in the House, GOP lawmakers said Wednesday night. His immediate condition was unknown, but lawmakers said paramedics were "working on him" in the Republican cloakroom. Minutes later, he was wheeled out of the House chamber on a stretcher to a nearby elevator and taken to the hospital. He appeared to be receiving oxygen through a mask. GOP lawmakers emerged from the vote a short time later, saying Rutherford had been "stabilized."
