Hackers working on behalf of the Chinese government broke into the computer networks of at least six state governments in the United States in the last year, according to a report released Tuesday by a private cybersecurity firm. The report from Mandiant does not identify the compromised states or offer a motive for the intrusions, which began last May. But the Chinese group believed responsible for the breaches, APT41, is known to launch hacking operations both for old-fashioned espionage purposes and for financial gain. The same hacking group, APT41, was implicated in a 2020 Justice Department indictment that accused Chinese...

ESG stands for “Environmental, Social, Corporate Governance” and has been likened to a globalized Social Credit Scoring system for business. If you have a high ESG score, it will be easy to qualify for credit, to get the best deals with vendors and to participate in the global supply chain.Alas, if you don’t have a high ESG score, you won’t be in business long unless you change your behavior and knuckle under to its demands. So, how is ESG determined and who sets the rules and guidelines?First, ESG has nothing to do with the physical aspects of a company, like capital,...

CUPERTINO, CA—In an unprecedented effort to put additional pressure on Russia, Apple Inc. has announced they will be removing the entire country from Apple maps. "As far as we're concerned, Russia no longer exists on our detailed map of the entire world," said CEO Tim Cook from his vacation home in Beijing. "And if Apple Inc. says you don't exist, then you don't exist! Russia is now the East Atlantic Ocean. Take that, Russia!" Other tech companies are following suit, with Facebook and Twitter also blocking access in Russia. DoorDash and Uber Eats are still active, but will only allow...

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida Senate passed a voting law package Friday that was pushed by Gov. Ron DeSantis and would create a police force dedicated to pursuing election crimes. The chamber approved the bill on a party lines vote with nearly all Republicans in support. House lawmakers are considering companion legislation. DeSantis, a Republican, proposed the need for an election police unit last year, citing unspecified allegations of fraud that have gained traction in parts of the GOP following former President Donald Trump's false claims that his reelection was stolen. The governor, who is running for reelection and considered...

Maybe a teenager comes home and says they ‘finna’ do their homework after dinner or maybe after going to dinner with a friend they say the meal was ‘bussin.’ Slang words like ‘finna’ and ‘bussin’ can be figured out when used in a sentence, but what about hard to decipher slang words that leave people feeling salty? Where does NY rank in 2022’s most sinful states? Fortunately, the internet makes it easy for people to become slang word GOATs with a few clicks on a keyboard or smartphone. The most Googled slang word in the U.S. is ‘simp’, according to...

Twitter has banned more than 100 accounts that pushed the pro-Russian hashtag #IStandWithPutin for participating in “coordinated inauthentic behavior,” days after the hashtag trended on Twitter amid the invasion in Ukraine. A Twitter spokesperson said on Friday that it is still investigating the origins and links between the accounts, and that it banned the accounts for violating its “platform manipulation and spam policy." The accounts with the most retweets about the hashtag on Wednesday only had a few dozen followers and used stock photos as profile pictures, which led disinformation researchers to question how the tweets went viral. It’s an...

Dartmouth researchers have built an artificial intelligence model for detecting mental disorders using conversations on Reddit, part of an emerging wave of screening tools that use computers to analyze social media posts and gain an insight into people's mental states. What sets the new model apart is a focus on the emotions rather than the specific content of the social media texts being analyzed. In a paper presented at the 20th International Conference on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology, the researchers show that this approach performs better over time, irrespective of the topics discussed in the posts. There are...

For an 'empowered, super-successful woman' (her words), 2020 Ms Great Britain April Banbury can be rather daft when it comes to men. She's met goodness knows how many online in the past few years, dated 'more than 100' of them and slept with 'the ones I felt I might have a connection with potentially'. Then . . . 'They just ghost me,' she says with a look that's part fury, part hurt on her very pretty face.

Back in January 2021 The Gateway Pundit reported on the digital COVID vaccination passport system being worked on by Big Tech and Big Pharma. These groups were working on a “vaccine passport” that identifies if you have been properly vaccinated before you travel. Clearly, individual rights were not their concern.Brietbart.com reported at the time.A coalition of tech and health organizations including Oracle, Microsoft, and the Mayo Clinic, is reportedly working to develop a digital COVID-19 vaccination passport that would allow businesses, airlines, and governments to check if individuals have received the vaccine. The Hill reports that a coalition of health and...

PALM BEACH, FL—Sources close to Donald Trump reported him trudging from his home office and heading straight for the espresso machine for the fourth time in as many hours, as the bleary-eyed true president had stayed up all night on his newly-launched TRUTH social media platform to delete any post making fun of him. “Wrong! Deleted!” “I never said that! Deleted!” “Fake tan? More like fake news! Deleted!” Exclamations such as these reverberated through the spacious Florida mansion of the nation’s favorite president throughout the night, putting all residents on edge. Melania, affected by Trump’s all-nighter, was overheard screaming to...

I run a pretty big forum - For the last 10 hours its been pretty crazy downloading the latest backup of my forum. We are located in the heart of Kyiv (we wanted to be hosted offshore). Right now the site is still up, the internet is running. This may be a good way for me to see who is bullshiting and who isnt, in terms of how much infrastructure is left. After ALL that has happened, the power/internet is still on.

We're not quite sure Meta understands the whole point of pivoting into the "metaverse" business means. That's because the artist formerly known as Facebook has officially dissolved its team developing a new augmented reality and virtual reality operating system, according to a report from The Information on Friday. There were more than 300 employees formerly working on the project, three people with knowledge of the situation said. Its intentions were to vertically integrate all of the necessities Meta would use to forge forward in the world of AR/VR. The company had been working on an operating system that it was developing...

The centerpiece of the exhibition is the video In Event of Moon Disaster, a six-minute film produced by the MIT Center for Advanced Virtuality, which won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Interactive Media: Documentary this year, according to ArtDaily. SNIP Investing $1,000: The commercial from Apple aired during the third quarter of the Super Bowl. The ad highlighted an upcoming product, which proved to be a major catalyst for Apple. Anyone watching the commercial who felt like it was well done, might have been convinced that Apple could compete in the computer space, and may have chosen to invest in shares of the company. Apple traded at a split-adjusted price of $0.13 on the Monday after Super Bowl XVII (Jan. 23, 1984). A $1,000 investment could have purchased 7,692.31 shares of AAPL. The $1,000 investment in AAPL shares would...

Last week Instagram notified me that a viral post I had published was “fact checked” by a group called ‘The Healthy Indian Project’. My mother is from Bombay, and I did lose 40lbs last year, but I didn’t think they had created an entire unit just for me. So, I decided to find out who this group is. My findings are bemusing. The Healthy Indian Project (‘THIP’) appears to have started as a fitness and lifestyle site in 2018. Its CEO – Sudipta Sengupta – is a life-long marketing consultant from a small city (Gurgaon, Haryana) in India. The group...
