"The cases of misreported or erroneously reported major news stories begin to make you wonder, "Are the news media just out there to get Trump," says W. Joseph Campbell, communications professor at American University and the author of Getting It Wrong: Ten of the Greatest Misreported Stories in American Journalism. "The relationship with the president is very tense and is very strained and very stretched, and probably more stretched than strained than it has been in the recent past." Campbell also runs Media Myth Alert, a blog that tracks the recycling of fake news stories in the mainstream media. In...

CNN political analyst Kirsten Powers is hitting back at critics of her network's decision to warn an anonymous Reddit user he could be exposed if he resorted to "ugly behavior" on the internet again. "People do not have a right to stay anonymous so they can spew their racist, misogynist, homophobic garbage," she argued in a series of tweets to her nearly 250,000 followers on Thursday.....

Earlier this year, a sloppily doodled MS Paint comic appeared on Reddit—the online news aggregator and so-called “front page of the internet”—juxtaposing images of 20th-century fascism with more modern symbols of far-right political thought. Under the column “fascism then” loomed the usual suspects: soldiers goose-stepping in formation, concentration-camp prisoners in striped pyjamas, a barking-mad Adolf Hitler. Under “fascism now” lurked a weirder assemblage of ideological signifiers of the so-called “alt-right”: a snickering cartoon frog in Nazi regalia, the crooning French candelabra from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, an anime character, a badly drawn swastika. The comic carried a caption courtesy...

On Wednesday's edition of CNN's New Day, hosts Chris Cuomo and Alisyn Camerota addressed the apology the network was able to get from the Reddit user behind the gif of President Trump wrestling a CNN image superimposed on WWE founder Vince McMahon. Trump tweeted out the gif and received widespread condemnation from the mainstream media. "Something remarkable I thought happened yesterday, I thought it was remarkable that CNN found the Reddit user who created the gif of Donald Trump and the wrestling video and where he punches CNN, so the investigative team went back and found the guy who first...

The positions will be hourly associate jobs with, according to the statement, ‘competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits packages’. "We are excited to continue growing our team with the first fulfillment center in Utah," said Akash Chauhan, Amazon's Vice President of North American operations. Utah originally went up against six other states to fight for the facility, with Salt...

CNN unmasked the Reddit user from a trail of biographical cues he left as he published hate-filled posts. UPDATE: A video shared by President Donald Trump with his Twitter followers and a video singled out by CNN appear to have "substantial differences," WikiLeaks has reported. Implying that that alone may prove the news network got the wrong internet user when claiming the creator of the video was HanA******Solo, WikiLeaks tweeted: (TWEET-AT-LINK) But the hub for whistleblower-sourced material isn't the only member of the media that is making this claim. Some conservative-leaning news organizations have also made similar assumptions. According to...

Lindsay Lohan wants to make America great again. The actress spent the 4th of July defending President Trump against ‘bullies’, asking followers on Twitter to support the ‘kind’ Trump family. Huh? Who knew that President Donald Trump‘s biggest supporter would be…Lindsay Lohan? Lindsay, 31, took some time out of her 4th of July holiday to respond to positive stories about the president on Twitter. It’s clear that Lindsay’s a major Trump supporter, and would like her followers to switch to Team #MAGA and jump on the “fake news” train, too. In the first tweet, she responded to an angry Trump...

Why do a majority of Americans distrust the mainstream media? This (from the Daily Caller) could be one reason: CNN sparked a backlash Tuesday night after threatening to identify the Reddit user who claimed to have created a meme of Donald Trump body-slamming the CNN logo that the president later shared on Twitter. CNN targeted Reddit user Han***holeSolo because he took credit for the video and apparently had a history of making racist and anti-Semitic remarks online. CNN reporter Andrew Kaczynski opted not to identify the user “because he is a private citizen who has issued an extensive statement of...

Recent big acquisition news from Walmart and Amazon, ranked #1 and #3 in the Forbes list of the world’s largest retailers, confirmed rumors circulating since at least April that Walmart had its eye on online men’s fashion retailer Bonobos and Amazon was flirting with the idea of buying high-end grocer Whole Foods. While the deals differ markedly in size and scale, $310 million for Bonobos and $13.7 billion for Whole Foods, both represent a step beyond Walmart’s and Amazon’s mass-market roots and into the premium market where luxury consumers live. It’s a strategy that mid-market department store retail Hudson Bay...

Journalists were gobsmacked to discover that Trump tweeted an animated GIF of him from his wrestling days knocking out someone with the CNN logo superimposed over his head. Among the scandalized were the “targets” of the tweet – CNN itself. And so, CNN did what any reasonable, sensible, and journalistic operation would do: they sought out the person who originally made the GIF on Reddit. (TWEET-AT-LINK) Reddit user”HanA**holeSolo” first shared the GIF last Wednesday of Trump pummeling a wrestler with CNN’s logo imposed on his face. CNN could find no earlier instance of the GIF. The GIF was later edited...

Comedian and actress Kathy Griffin has reportedly been interviewed by the U.S. Secret Service for more than an hour. The investigation is connected to a recent photograph which showed her holding the bloody head of Donald Trump.(TWEET-AT-LINK) Griffin’s attorney contends that the actress was just exercising her constitutional rights. “She basically exercised her First Amendment rights to tell a joke,” Dmitry Gorin, a criminal defense attorney representing Griffin said. “When you look at everything in the media, all the times entertainers make videos or express themselves in other ways, you’ve never seen an entertainer, let alone a comedian, be subject...

Jack Ma, the man who turned Alibaba into ChinaÂ’s dominant e-commerce platform, now has his sights set on global domination. Terahertz technology enabled via graphene could boost the capacity of future data networks, according to researchers at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. Andrei Vorobiev, pictured, senior researcher, said: “One of graphene’s special features is that electrons move much faster than in most semiconductors used today. Thanks to this, we can access the high frequencies that constitute the terahertz range. Data communication then has the potential of becoming up to ten times faster and can transmit much larger amounts of data than is currently possible.” Researchers at Chalmers have shown that graphene based transistor devices could receive and convert terahertz...

Ryan Heenan used to make $30,000 a year as a preschool music teacher. Now he makes $30,000 a month producing jingles and videos through a website caller Fiverr -- and he does so from the comfort of his home in Orange County, California. Heenan is part of an explosion in home-based work opportunities occurring thanks to the Internet. Consumer reporters such as myself used to struggle to offer people legitimate work-at-home options. In fact, most of our stories on the subject were about work-at-home scams. But now there are all sorts of solid opportunities to make a living in your...

Unpresidential? Sure. But the hysterical media reaction to the spoof video of Trump wresting a man with a CNN logo on his head shows journalists aren't acting like real journalists, either. Claims that Trump is endangering the lives of journalists invite the contempt of viewers who long suspected journalists can dish it out but can't take it. (TWEET-AT-LINK) It's a joke, Joyce: The video was a modified version of a 2007 appearance by Mr Trump at World Wrestling Entertainment's WrestleMania 23 promotion, in which Mr Trump "takes down" WWE chairman Vince McMahon. Hysterical wah wah: n a statement, CNN called...
