Conmen have been ripping off fans outside Chicago sports venues for years. Posing as parking attendants, they lure in drivers, take their cash, and often guide them into illegal parking spots. Those fans later find parking tickets from the city on their cars. Nothing stopped the men we uncovered running an illegal parking scam - not even the different teams of officers patrolling the city streets outside Guaranteed Rate Field. The scammers are so bold they continued preying on White Sox fans - selling fraudulent parking passes last season, right in front of authorities. What happened was a bit different...

A Chicago man and three juveniles committed two robberies in about 30 minutes Saturday night near Wrigley Field, authorities said. But the real surprise during Cortez Savage’s bail hearing came from his defense attorney, who claimed that he graduated from Walter Payton College Prep and is studying accounting at Howard University. That didn’t sit well with Judge Barbara Dawkins. “This defendant is a graduate of one of the best high schools in this city and is currently attending one of the most prestigious historically Black colleges in this country,” Dawkins noted. She then ordered Savage to pay an $8,000 bail...

The department has recently hired 50 new officers but still needs more to operate fully, according to CBS. "The reality is that we need to fill the gaps quickly," Bulnes said.

Last October, Boeing’s headquarters in Chicago was described as looking like a ghost town, with few people showing up to work at the company’s corporate offices. And that was largely after the city began reopening following the pandemic lockdowns. Many employees may still have been working from home out of caution over COVID, but others simply didn’t want to brave the streets of the Windy City for fear of being carjacked or otherwise harmed by the criminals who seemed to be running the streets. Now the “ghost town” reputation is apparently going to be amplified because the company announced that...

It’s a carjacking booth—specifically, a booth staffed by sheriff’s office personnel to warn attendees of the deadly dangers presented by the current wave of violent carjackings on Chicago’s streets and to give those car-show fans tips about how to avoid becoming the next victims. Late last year, the city of Chicago announced that it was installing “bleeding control kits” in hundreds of buildings. The idea was that if a person is shot, stabbed or beaten, it would be helpful to have medical supplies nearby until an ambulance can arrive. So in 269 buildings, including public libraries, senior-citizen centers and City...
