Sarah Palin is not the only person outraged about David Letterman’s jabs at her family. After the CBS late-night talk show host made some off-color jokes about the former vice presidential candidate’s daughter Monday night, Austinite Russell Korman, owner of Russell Korman’s Fine Jewelry & Watches, decided to file a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission. “I really think it was intent to hurt a public figure by going through their children,” said Korman, who saw the jokes on Tuesday when they were rerun on cable news shows. “We didn’t do that, much, to the Bush kids and we didn’t...

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said Friday that “Late Night” host David Letterman “crossed the line” when he joked about her daughters. “I would like to see him apologize to young women across the country” for contributing to a culture “that says it’s OK to talk about statutory rape,” Palin told Matt Lauer on TODAY. “It's not cool; it's not funny.”

Credit where credit’s due. --------------------------------------------------------- Comedians in search of a laugh should really know better than to snicker about men having sex with teenage girls (or young women) less than half their age. The sexualization of girls and women in the media is reaching new lows these days — it is exploitative and has a negative effect on how all women and girls are perceived and how they view themselves. Letterman also joked about what he called Palin’s “slutty flight attendant look” — yet another example of how the media love to focus on a woman politician’s appearance, especially as...

New York State Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb, a Republican, is calling on the CEO of CBS to fire David Letterman for crude comments he made about Sarah Palin and her daughter. In the letter to CBS chief Les Moonves, Kolb said he took Letterman to task for the "shockingly inappropriate" jokes. “As the proud father of a daughter, and as a husband, I wanted Mr. Moonves to hear from me directly about Mr. Letterman’s disparaging remarks," Kolb said in a written statement. “Firing Mr. Letterman would send a clear message that CBS will not tolerate any of its employees...

After this week's flap between Sarah Palin and David Letterman, which started when Letterman cracked a joke about Palin's "slutty flight attendant look" and another about her daughter getting "knocked up" by New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez, the National Organization of Women has condemned Letterman's jokes and is asking its supporters to write to CBS and voice criticism. "The sexualization of girls and women in the media is reaching new lows these days -- it is exploitative and has a negative effect on how all women and girls are perceived and how they view themselves," the group writes on its...

Matt Lauer interviewed Gov Sarah Palin today. They talked about the gas pipe line and then got into the Letterman comment (from about the 4:00 minute mark). Sarah told it like it was when Lauer pressed her. Matt tried to excuse Letterman and Sarah said "he was naive" and then he really got interesting! Matt finally had to give in (even thou he tried to defend Letterman). Was great! REALLY WORTH LISTENING TO!

June 11, 2009 You Might Be a Misogynist if...you don't want Letterman fired. Kyle-Anne Shiver There are not many mere words which will cause my normally quietly-simmering, red blood to boil over, but the things David Letterman has said on his show regarding a 14 year-old girl, and his ensuing non-apologies are in this league. That he now claims the remarks were aimed at Bristol Palin, a few years older than the younger sister, Willow, who was in New York with her mother, when he joked about her "being knocked up by Rodriguez" in the 7th inning, is a ridiculous...

Letterman voted into NOW Hall of Shame: After two nights of "jokes" at the expense of Palin and her family, Letterman tried to explain himself and offer something of an apology. On his June 10 show, Letterman said he was referring to Palin's 18-year-old daughter, Bristol -- not the 14-year-old daughter who actually accompanied Palin on her New York trip. Letterman said "I recognize that these are ugly" jokes. NOW agrees. Comedians in search of a laugh should really know better than to snicker about men having sex with teenage girls (or young women) less than half their age. The...

The president of a national women's public policy group on Thursday blasted David Letterman's "offensive" jokes about Sarah Palin and her daughter and called on the CBS late-night host to formally apologize. "There's a saying that out of the heart, the mouth speaks, and Letterman's statement reveals a pretty ugly reflection of who Letterman may be," Wendy Wright, president of Concerned Women for America, told FOXNews.com. "When he said those things, they were thought through. He probably kicked them around with his writers who thought it was appropriate to say these reprehensible things."

Kathleen Parker, an obscure Washington Post syndicated columnist who made herself famous by attacking Republican Vice Presidential nominee Alaska Governor Sarah Palin last fall, said that Palin 'invited' vicious sex jokes made this week by CBS Television Late Night host David Letterman. Parker also made degrading, sexist comments of her own about Palin.Parker made the comment in an online chat this afternoon at WashingtonPost.com:Re: Letterman: Listen, Letterman is a comedian. Comedians that don't go over the line are not funny. If you said she looks slutty, that's over the line. If I say it, it's over the line. Why wouldn't...

"Late Show" host David Letterman, in response to Sarah Palin's statement concerning a disgusting joke he made Monday evening about her daughter getting knocked-up by Alex Rodriguez in the middle of a Yankee game (video embedded right), made a feable attempt at apologizing to the Governor and her family by -- wait for it! -- repeating the joke on Wednesday's show. Classy, huh?

Smug, hip David Letterman offered a smirky non-apology about his ongoing class and sexist slurs against the Palins, his apparent social inferiors. "We were, as we often do, making jokes about people in the news and we made some jokes about Sarah Palin and her daughter, the 18-year-old girl, who is — her name is Bristol, that's right, and so, then, now they're upset with me . . .""These are not jokes made about her 14-year-old daughter. I would never, never make jokes about raping or having sex of any description with a 14-year-old girl. I mean, look at...

There's been quite a stink over David Letterman's ill-judged and offensive joke about Sarah Palin's daughter getting "knocked up" by Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees. I initially took it as a reference to Bristol Palin, who is now 18 and has a young baby. Turns out though that the daughter who did accompany Governor Palin to the Yankees was Bristol Palin, who's 14. Letterman has taken a lot of flak and few, even on the Left, have been prepared to stick up for him with any conviction. So Dave has apologised. Kind of. Sort of. Well, hardly at...

"The Palins have no intention of providing a ratings boost for David Letterman by appearing on his show. Plus, it would be wise to keep Willow away from David Letterman."
