Very thoughtfully written. I am not Jewish, but I am a pilot. And I never have any trouble finding willing kids to take up on a Young Eagles flight...I always offer for the parent to come along in the back seat, which seems to help a bit.

I am surprised JWR did not bite - maybe the mild criticisms.

    Enjoyed reading your essay...

Many of the precincts used to be (and probably still are)in people's garages - I kid you not. These guys have to be home to be able to host the election, which is easier to do on a weekend.

I am orginally from the NO area, and could not believe that the home next to one of my friends (Old Metry) was a precinct. Pretty easy to stuff the box full of your candidate...

A TFR does not mean the airspace is totally restricted during in this case a four hour window. If that were the case, several airports would have been closed, and all flights commercial and private would have ceased.

If you are in contact with ATC, whether or not you are on a flight plan (i.e., flight following), then ATC will either allow you to pass through an TFR area or will vector you around. Depends on what is going on at the time.

I have met a few folks that fly pipelines, and I am very surprised the pilot was not in contact with ATC. I am NOT surprised a flight plan was not filed - that is pretty much the norm. However, it would seem this guy would at least monitor the correct ATC freq...

Note the NYT article fails to mention that an aide to Martin Frost STOLE a briefcase belonging to one of the TX Republican legislators because it contained a proposed redistricting map. Caught on camera. Arrested. Will hopefully stand trial.

Also, the "$1.7 million cost" of another session is on the shoulders of the Democratic party. I sent Greg Abbott, the TX AG, a note that the state should pursue civil cases against those individuals that fled and caused this expense.

I am sick of hearing about investigations into finding these AWOL idiots when they ran away, and not hearing about the fact that their antics will cost all Texans at least 1.7 million. More than that if another special session is held.

But the NYT is going to create the news they want to report, not look at actual facts, now, aren't they...
  • Where's Ann Coulter? Why is Barnes & Noble hiding all copies of TREASON from their customers?

Bought the book yesterday two days ago at a B&N in Richardson, TX. Had Hildebeast's book just to the right as you walk in - in the "Non-Fiction best sellers group". The top 10 in that grouping were on the shelf, each at 30% off.

I saw what looked like a manager type nearby, and asked why Treason was not with that group since it was on the best-seller list ahead of the Witch. She smiled, and pointed me in the right direction. Coulter had her own display off to the left - visible upon entry if you looked the right way.

I browsed a bit before going to check out - and the same lady was now running a register when I got to the counter. Since all the other in the "top 10" were discounted 30%, I asked for and received the same discount.

She confided that the Coulter books were selling much better than "Lying about History" did when it first came out. And she thought that was a good thing.

I would have asked her out right then and there except for the rings on both of our fingers...

Agreed. New Orleans also might accept a little social activism. But down in the small Cajun towns, the folks work hard and do not look too kindly on people looking to take their money or tell them how to live.

Spent a good bit of time in Abbeville, Erath, and Maurice. Great folks - unbelievable food and culture. I try to get down there a couple of times a year for some festival or another.

Does Erath still have the 4th of July festival?

I personally know two ex-priests that have left the priesthood to marry. One took another job within another parish in the diocese, and the other no longer works for the church.

Ironically, we have a married priest at our parish (ex-Episcopalian), where one of the ex-priests now attends church with his family. Says he is not bitter, but would have liked to remain a priest.

BTW, sure is funny to watch to visitor's jaws drop in mass when he talks about his wife and kids during his homily...

I suspect there is nothing in the bill that keeps the good folks at the local government buildings from continuing to search everyone entering the building. Now they just need to allow folks who have permits to keep their personal protection.

They can escort the folks who carry without a permit.

Folks with permits are NOT the problem, Mr. Brown...

I do not agree with him 100%, but that is one point I DO agree with him on. If Tiger is on his game, on the short courses that many LPGA events use, I think he could be in the high 50's consistently.

I respectfully disagree. Her agent requested the sponsor's exemption after reviewing the layouts and distances of the courses of several tournaments. Apparently, there were several tourney's just dying to give her an invite, but the Colonial was not one of them. However, she chose the tournament whose course would most suit her game. Maybe she did not bully her way in, but she requested the invitation.

I am curious as to the fallout if the Colonial and/or BOA had denied her request for an invite.

By the way, Presidio9, although I do not agree with your position 100%, I do not find your wording offensive at all. Your positions seem to be well communicated, and I respect that. I think you are being slammed by folks who do not want to listen to an alternative opinion, no matter how it is presented.

I feel there is a strong case against the TX Democrat Party, possibly the DNC, and the individual representatives to recoup the expenses of a special session.

I wrote an email a few minutes ago to the TX Attorney General inquiring about such a lawsuit. If anyone else thinks this is a worthwhile pursuit, the Texas AG is Mr. Greg Abbot. His email is:

The GN was produced from 1985-87. The 1986 GN was the first with the intercooler, and was rated at 235 HP, compared to the vette's 230 hp. 0-60 came in at a quick 4.9 secs, compared to 5.0 for the vette. The 1987 GN was rated at 245 hp.

The 3.8 liter turbo engine had a governer to limit the car's speed to 124mph due to structural concerns. Without the governor, a 1986 GN topped out at 169 mph on a test track in Michigan.

Very cool car. I will get another one someday.

In the only example cited of a "Republican" war, GWHB lost the election in 1992. However, he lost because of the Perot uprising. If the stock market goes on a steady rise over the next 18 months, and given the sheer idiocy of the left, I think the Republicans are going to solidly run both houses of Congress and the Presidency.

    Just my 2 cents...
