Attention to those in the North Austin/Round Rock Texas Area. The Hurricane Katrina drop off center located off I-35 is totally out of food for the Hurricane Katrina relief. We just dropped off some other items and they asked us to help get the word out. They need non-perishable foods, hygiene items, diapers, socks and underwear. They are NOT accepting any clothes other than the socks and underwear. If you have any non-perishable foods or water you can take please do so. Also, contact any other groups that can help out. Thanks.

Round Rock school district voters turned out in record numbers Saturday to overwhelmingly reject a record-high $349 million bond package administrators said was needed to build new schools. Hutto school district voters did just the opposite, approving a $53 million bond issue to build new facilities by a margin of 2-to-1. Round Rock's effort to sell bonds to construct two new elementary schools, a middle school and a high school was voted down by 62 percent of voters. The final count was 8,595 to 5,209. The controversial proposal, floated during a lagging economy and against organized opposition, drew nearly 14,000...

My husband called this morning to talk to the two disc jockeys on the morning show at KGSR 107.1, Kevin and Joe Nick. This is a rock/country station here in liberal Austin, TX. One of the dj's had brought up the Drudge report and the Swiftboat Vet story. The other one kept saying how Drudge was just a front for the right and Drudge was obsessed with silly stories about Hillary. He said he gets all his news from ABC.com. So my husband called to ask why they wouldn't discuss the details of the Swifties book. They told him that...

Neighborhood protests proposed water treatment plant Brushy Creek facility would take 24 acres of longtime resident's property By Sarah Coppola AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF Sunday, November 9, 2003 ROUND ROCK -- Dan McFall's 95-year-old grandfather, Garland Walsh, has lived on the same parcel of land since 1938. Walsh loves its open spaces, occupied by big oak trees, cattle and a clan of wild turkeys. So his grandfather was stunned, McFall said, when utility district officials told him a year ago that they planned to build a water treatment facility on the land. "He's been living out his remaining years there," McFall said....

Help! Why do I seem to know all the answers until I am confronted with the questions? A friend of mine has a brother, who is having a discussion with me via e-mail. After my first response regarding the war in Iraq I received the following. Can anyone help me to respond to this one? I've already asked how long we should wait on the inspectors? If 12 years was long enough? What diplomacy would he suggest using with Saddam? Notice none of my questions was answered.

Who needs France? We have Tex-Mex By John Kelso AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF Friday, February 21, 2003 You can't go wrong making fun of France, since the French live there and it is just so much fun to taunt the French. Look at it this way: It's the only country featured in a famous poem that ends with the words "someone's underpants." It was the only country ridiculed in Mel Brooks' western comedy, "Blazing Saddles," when Dom DeLuise and a chorus line of like-minded male dancers were shown kicking up their heels and doing a number called "The French Mistake." France has...

Did anyone else happen to see the AFV video tonight of the little girl who knew her government officials? After asking the audience such mentally challenging questions as "Who is the Vice-President?", "Who is the Secretary of State?", "Who is the Speaker of the House?" and "Who is the leader of the Senate?" and getting totally blank looks on the faces of the average American they showed a video of a little girl. Her Dad (who I swear must be a Freeper!) was asking her the same questions. She must have been six or seven years old. He would ask who is...
