Come join us Friday May 13, 2022 – Sunday May 15, 2022 for the Camp Aliceville WWII POW Camp Reenactment located at the Aliceville Museum in Aliceville, AL. Camp Aliceville was one of the largest POW camps in America from 1943-1945 housing over 6000 mostly Afrika Korps prisoners. To honor the history of Aliceville’s great contribution to the war and honor all of those who served…we will be putting on a period accurate reenactment of the WWII prison camp for those days. We welcome reenactors to portray Rommel's Afrika Korps and Luftwaffe POW's as well as American MP's and Alabama...
  • Prayer Request for my Granddaughter's Eyes

    06/19/2019 9:23:36 AM PDT · by Tuscaloosa Goldfinch · 58 replies
I have a prayer request. My granddaughter, artistically talented, super smart, homeschooled, is having vision issues in one eye. Her vision in that one eye has gotten progressively worse over the last year and a half or so, and last week had a scan and there are dark areas in the scan around her optic nerve. The doc said that he has never seen this before in someone as young as she is (15) and without an autoimmune disease or diabetes. Not diabetic. Ruled out an infectious disease for the time being. She will see a nuerologic opthamologist next week...

During tonight’s segment Joe DiGenova dropped another bomb on former Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe.
  • Democrats seek delay on Sessions' confirmation vote for Attorney General

    WHNT NEWS 29 ^ | January 23, 2017 | Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) – The top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee will request a delay on the confirmation vote on President Donald Trump’s nominee for attorney general. That will push the panel vote until Jan. 31. The Judiciary panel is scheduled to vote Tuesday on Sen. Jeff Sessions’ nomination. But committee rules allow any member of the panel to hold a vote over until the next week, and members of both parties frequently do. A spokesman for California Sen. Dianne Feinstein said Monday that she will request the extra week “to give the committee more time to conduct its due...

We are new to apple/macs, and our Lightroom software has gone a bit glitchy. Apparently I have the dreaded beach ball spiral of death or something like that. When we try to edit photos we get this beach ball spiral symbol in our software window. It almost acts like it needs reinstalling but some blogs I've read said that does not work. Any suggestions? Thanks.
  • Do you think Michele Bachmann can win the GOP nomination? (Freep this Politico Poll)

t’s easy to dismiss Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) as bomb-throwing back-bencher who is eying a presidential run largely because her attempt to secure a post in the House leadership was stymied. There’s a long history of camera-hungry House members making improbable runs that have served mainly to highlight their irrelevance. • Sports Memorabilia Question

This past weekend my husband asked me to find out the value of some sports memorabilia that he would like to sell. So I went online and looked on Ebay, and while they have some things listed there, they are not exactly what we have. Today I took them to a local museum and showed the items to the curator, and he said two of the things in particular are valuable, but he could not give me a price. So I need to know if someone can suggest a sports memorabilia appraiser? Thanks!

I am very sorry to announce to those of you who were planning on attending some of our meetings over the next month that we have been denied entry to the USA and sadly will have to cancel all the meetings. My whole family were detained for over 6 hours at the US border yesterday (the USA side), questioned, photographed, fingerprinted like criminals – and sent back to Canada. We were told we could not come in to preach to a series of Christian groups like this – even though their website clearly says we CAN – and I...

I was buying a diet Dr. Pepper in the Birmingham airport snack bar when he walked in behind me. Wearing desert camouflage and carrying a backpack, he appeared to be in his early 20's. He chose a soda and got in line behind me. I pulled out some cash and told the clerk, "Let me get his, also," nodding at the young man behind me. I know someone who does these things much more gracefully than I. He's seen more than one soldier eating a meal with his family and he's quietly picked up the tab, exiting before they have...
  • ROBERT DEWITT: Media outlets in short supply of fair, balanced news

The American news media should provide this country with a 'marketplace of ideas.' It would like to provide Americans with a company commissary. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, company towns were common. A saw mill, steel mill or coal mine built a town around the industry and supplied life's basic necessities, including a retail store. The mills and mines sometimes paid in 'script' fake money redeemable only at the company store. Sometimes they allowed workers credit at the company store and deducted the store bill from the workers' checks. The mines and mills not only controlled what...

Dear Senator McCain, You started off in this campaign lacking the support of the Republican party base -- the conservatives. The people whose favor you have hitherto always had, the media, had been in your corner throughout the entire primary season, triangulating against your various oponents who at that time split the support of the base. And with the help of the media, you prevailed. They are the ones who helped choose you. Have you ever asked yourself why? Almost immediately upon winning the nomination your friends in the media turned on you - sniping at your heels and tearing...

I have more than one dvd creating program on my computer. I purchased Nero a couple of years back to create slideshows with our photography, but it constantly seizes up and dies, and I have to start over. Does anyone have a suggestion for a freeware program that's easy to use and would allow me to add music? Does anyone know anything about Slideshow GUI? I downloaded a trial version of Pro Show Gold, and it's VERY easy to use - it's just that our main business is construction related, and well, you know....
  • Vanity - Help with Quickbooks?

I need help with getting Quickbooks to print a specific type of report. I want an entire fiscal year expense report, just the totals, by categories of expenses, not by vendor. I've been able to get expenses broken down by vendor totals, but then I still have to go to some other software like Microsoft spreadsheets to re-enter my data. I've searched the quickbooks site and can't find the answer. I use Quickbooks Pro 2007. Thanks in advance.

SANTA ROSEA, Fla. | If Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain picked Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to appeal to women, especially bitter supporters of Sen. Hillary Clinton, and I was one of those women, I would be deeply offended. Palin is a militantly pro-life creationists who, with five children at the age of 44 and one born with Down Syndrome only four months ago apparently doesn't even believe in birth control, stands against just about every thing Clinton stands for.

Police in Panama City Beach are still searching for an ex-felon accused of sexually assaulting a Tuscaloosa woman on spring break and pushing her from a sixth-floor hotel balcony. Police intend to charge Shawn Wuertley, a security guard at the Sandpiper Beacon Resort in Panama City, with attempted felony murder, sexual battery and false imprisonment. Indiana criminal records indicate that Wuertley, 29, served several years in prison on several felony charges, none of them violent. He was convicted of burglary charges in 1998, 1999 and 2004, car theft, theft and two charges of receiving stolen property in 1999. He was...

TUSCALOOSA | Luther Quarles looks like a grandfather, a mild-mannered one with a quick smile whom a child would look forward to visiting on a Sunday afternoon. But any hopes Quarles had of for that died with his only daughter nearly 30 years ago. Regina Quarles was killed in 1978, just months after graduating from Tuscaloosa County High School. The 18-year-old was found strangled to death after going to a disco with friends. James Michael Hayes, the man convicted of her murder six months later, was a suspect in another similar murder and had been convicted of trying to rape...

The freedom they have long struggled for may soon be realized by thousands of persecuted Christian Karen and Karenni refugees from Burma who have been living in camps along the Thailand/Burma border. Many of these courageous, mostly Christian refugees are scheduled for resettlement in the United States, or other free nations. Christian Freedom International welcomes this news. For years CFI has been urging the U.S. government, Thailand, and the U.N. to allow the resettlement of these refugees from Burma. CFI has launched petition drives, sponsored U.S. Congressional staff delegations to the region, had conferences with U.S. Department of State officials...
