I think you were talking to me, not Asphalt.

My mentor is a freeper so I think he knows what the place is like, and I've been reading it for a long time, but he just thinks kids should be very careful about joining anything online - he's been softening about FR for months, this thread just finally got him to admit defeat!

I know, but it just sort of slipped out. That's why I haven't agreed yet - I'm not sure if I can stop it happening - I know I shouldn't get frustrated like that, but it's hard not to. And they were getting away with calling me worse things. Once the teacher stepped in though, she banned them as well.

I'm currently banned from talking about conservatism at school until I agree that constant use of the word 'moron' isn't necessary in political debate.

This thread came at a good time - I was just arguing with my mentor about whether or not FreeRepublic was a place I should be allowed to join. Finding this thread has convinced him.

I'm 13, nearly 14, and I live in Australia. Until two years ago I was in state schools and I got really, really sick of the teachers ramming their left wing philosophies down my throat. When I was in year six, my class teacher did classes on why the war in Iraq was wrong - actually did classes on it in school. I was only a kid, but it really made me really mad that a teacher could get away with that. For high school (which starts when you are 12 here) my parents decided to send me to a private school, and it's a lot better but it still gets annoying.

Currently my plans are to survive school without being brainwashed and then maybe go into the navy - I'd like to go to ADFA and I want to be the first female commanding officer of a submarine. I know I probably won't make that goal, but I think you should aim as high as possible, because then even if you fall short you wind up doing something worth doing.

I have to deal with not having many friends, because a lot of the things that interest other kids don't interest me much.
