Israel’s power grid is vulnerable to a Hezbollah attack that could render it “uninhabitable” 72 hours later, Haaretz reported on 21 June.
According to the CEO of a company that manages and oversees Israel’s electrical systems on behalf of the government, Israel is entirely unprepared for a war with Hezbollah that would likely target the country’s power infrastructure.
“We are not ready for a real war. We live in a fantasy world, in my eyes,” said Shaul Goldstein, head of Noga – the Israel Independent System Operator.
Goldstein made the comments while speaking at a conference organized by The Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) in the southern city of Sderot. He said that Israel would be “uninhabitable” after 72 hours without power. “You look at all of our infrastructure, the optical fibers, the ports – and I won’t go into the sensitive things – we are not in a good place.”

Hezbollah can make Israel ‘uninhabitable in 72 hours,’ expert warns..
Pure BS, on the other hand Israel can make the middle east uninhabitable.
A few “ experts “ are stating Israel may have to launch one or two low yield nukes….that would stop the Iranian sponsored Hezzbollah quickly- and possibly confirm Biblical prophecy: all Nations turn against Israel and fulfill the Damascus prophecy.
Note: I support Israel in its right to exist- use of nukes? Undecided.
What happens after that is anyone's guess.
Not sure I want to find out, either.
Preventing this kind of a scenario is the reason the US has been back stopping Israel and it is also the reason why Biden's feckless election year pivot to Iran and Hamas is so dangerous.
I suppose a pre-emptive strike on hezbollah would be difficult because their active members probably blend into a large portion of southern and even central Lebanon’s civilian population both near the coast and inland valleys. Once they assemble to fire off missiles at Israel, it’s perhaps a bit easier to strike but here again, Lebanon’s terrain is hilly and probably hides a lot of places where rockets could be launched, locations only apparent after they are airborne.
Speaking of Biblical prophecy, Armageddon is supposed to occur some distance (50-75 miles) south of the border in northern Israel, suggesting, if it has anything to do with this situation, some military invasion is part of the scenario and the invaders get at least that far into Israel. That would suggest a larger power than hezbollah like Iran, Syria, even Russia or Turkey.
Hezbollah is obviously holding back for humanitarian reasons. Obviously.
Haaretz is amusing. The Hebrew version is left-wing, but sane. The English language website is basically al Jazeera, but crazier.
Good thing our grid is safe. Right? Hello? Anyone? Bueller?
hitzbollah may have rockets, but i can gar-rahn-tee that napalm does a sight better job on johnny jihad!
Has Debka weighed in yet?
Such absolute BS..Israel can destroy Beirut in one day, heck they have done it before..yes Hezbollah is more powerful now, their rockets are more sophisticated than Hamas, they are precise, but Israel can wipe out Beirut and turn it into a freakin sandbox
the media in Israel is VERY left wing, they hate BiBi like the media here despises Trump..its the same mindset
Israel could easily make all of southern Lebanon an uninhabitable buffer zone for the next several hundred years, and do so in somewhat less than 72 minutes. However, the Usraelis are civilized, so they won’t do that…but if Hezbollah is going to keep up their attacks, they’ll get the Hamas treatment and Iran will lose another of its proxies.
Blowhards gonna blow, I guess.
Of course, that, plus “Israel is genocidal”.
“A few “ experts “ are stating Israel may have to launch one or two low yield nukes…”
If you game the use of nukes, or the successful use of nuclear blackmail, forward, in ten years most advanced states and all the rich, but unadvanced states like Saudi Arabia, would have nukes. Then, as countries face inevitable problems a percentage of those nukes will fall into the hands of non-state actors.
I’m amazed at how well the nuclear states have managed the situation so far. Although, several years ago Pakistan ran a hysterically fast military operation against its ungoverned outback. Indian intelligence reported that some unknown number of Pakistani nukes had been stolen. If so, they got them back. But one reason the world is essentially subsidizing the almost fully collapsed Pakistani state is because of those nukes. Sources say those nukes are constantly on the move in unmarked vans to prevent India and the United States from sweeping in and confiscating them.
If nukes get used anywhere, then they will be used a lot, everywhere.
Isaiah 17:1-7 KJV
1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
3 The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the Lord of hosts.
4 And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.
5 And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim.
6 Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the Lord God of Israel.
7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.
Israel can wipe out Hezbollah in 24 hours; if Israel’s back is up against the wall operation Samson would be invoked. Golda Meir almost did it during the 1973 invasion.
Such changes will add significant cost to supplying electric power. However, the technology is already present. For example in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada BC Hydro already brings electricity into the central city via underground transmission lines to a fully underground substation that transforms the power to distribution voltage for the central city.
You should go and stay in Lebanon and wait to see what happens if the terrorist buddies of yours are dumb enough to go for it.
The glowing remains of Lebanese cities will hopefully give Iran a very valuable lesson about their ultimate fate.
Israel must avoid using nukes; unless they get into a situation like the United States did in WWII.
Oops; shoulda read the article first (facepalm).
