I've been wondering -- for some time now -- what happened to Sen. Arlen Specter's hair. He used to have some, but he no longer does. What he had may have been a toupe. I don't really know. Does he have cancer or something?

Last afternoon I fell off a stool while trying to remove a light fixture. It was no big deal -- no harm done, but a fair amount of blood which splattered all over the house. It took me about an hour to get it cleaned up. The dog helped. The main problem was that I had no single organized first-aid kit, so I had to hunt around for things. I want to cure that. I want at least one for the house and one for the car. The question this time is: what should go into a first-aid kit? Band-aids...

I went through a period where I downloaded some pornography. None of it was illegeal, but I want it gone. I mean GONE. From what I have read, you can think you have deleted something, but the remnants of that file are still there. Advice?

I just received my most recent monthly utility bill, and the sewer charge went from virtually nothing to $154.90. The water charge changed almost none at all. About $40. I've been trying to figure this out. "They" are supposed to come out and look at things Monday, and I would like to have some idea what I am talking about when I talk with them. The man I spoke with on on the phone suggested that maybe one of of my toilets is leaking. That's not impossible, but I would think that would be reflected in the water charge as...

I have recently been trying to do a number of things at various stores -- local, box, and internet. The local stores do cost more, but they do better. For example, I have been trying to order a book for the little girl next door's birthday. A well-known internet bookshop told me that they might be able to get one here by August 4th or 21st. That will not do. I need it in hand by the 1st. Her birthday is the 6th, so we need to have it before then. Time to wrap, etc. I called a local bookshop....

I’ll be serious for a moment (rare for me). I think those of us who read and / or post to Free Republic have an obligation to make donations. I almost never donate to any organization. Sometimes a few bucks to the Salvation Army, but almost never to anyone else. In the case of FR, I feel differently. I do not think the Robinsons are cutting any fat hogs here. I don't know about the rest of you, but I've had it up to my eyebrows with all the fake testimonials on TV ads. People claim to have lost 200 pounds in two weeks, made $5000 in a month, etc. All lies. I am very much against government regulation, but I think these people should be required to sign affidavits that they actually did what they claim to have done.

This evening, I went over and turned over my neighbor's picnic table. He will know that it was me who did that. He is a very mean man. Last morning, he snapped at me and my dog for walking across the alley from him while he was sitting at that table. We normally try to stay well away from him. But sometimes, a little revenge feels good. I didn't hurt anything, but it won't be all that easy for him to put things right again. It took a little effort to turn it over. Both hands.

Sometimes I lay away at night and think about all the the things I've done which I regret. This is no fun. Close to the top of the list is turning down an invitation to go to the "Sadie Hawkins" dance with the class nerd when I was in the eighth grade. She was homely, but her main problem was that she had an IQ of about 180. I first accepted. I quite liked her. The other boys razzed me to the point where I canceled. If I had that to do over again, I would get the nicest corsage...

The little girl next door will be turning 11 next month. I would like to get her a birthday present. As of now, I am stuck. Stuck as the proverbial bug in the rug. It should not be anything inappropriate or inappropriately expensive. She can handle tech stuff, but I'm not sure that's the best way to go. Any suggestions?

I never served there. I almost did, but I let myself get talked out of it. That was a mistake which I will take to my grave. What with 4th of July and all, I have been thinking about those I know who did. There was Mackey. He and I grew up together. He was the tough guy in the class. He and I got along well, even though we were different. If I recall correctly, he enlisted in the Army in about his junior year. He came back several months later, walking with a cane. He was different. Subdued....

My personal favorites are the DC3 and the J3 Cub. Aeroncas weren't bad either. I seem to like tail-draggers. I have never piloted a DC3, but I have flown in one. That was down from Miami into Key West in the setting sun. They should still make them. There was an airplane. I have piloted a J3. It was a bitch to taxi, but it was great fun to fly. If I could get one for a reaonable price (which is not possible these days), I would. I sometimes go out to the local airport just to look at the...

You all read about that girl down in southern California who got an F on her final term paper because she used the word "God" in a term paper about religion which her teacher has assigned the students to write? He had warned them not to use that word. The town is just east of Los Angeles. I want to call it Velveeta, but it probably isn't exactly that.

I may be hallucinating, but CNN seems to have been getting better lately. I used to refuse to watch it, but they seem to now be reporting more stories in a more balanced way. Fox, on the other hand, seems to have been getting worse. Fewer stories, more legs, more opinion. Just my opinion.

I recently had my car worked on. It needed several things. It was due. They did not give this away. It came to over $1000. I think they did a good job. What I object to is that my radio buttons were all messed-up when I got it back. Now, it may be that the fact that they had changed the battery played some part in this. Fair enough that far. But... There were other stations which were working just fine. Not ones which I ordinarily listen to. So, I think they changed them. I can see how the workers...

I've been trying to remember what it is that you dip Q-tips into in order to clean out ear wax. This is basically for my dog, but I could occasionally use some myself.

They have been playing the movie on the tube here recently. What a great movie that is! We could use a few more like it. I am sorry Christoher Reeve died.

I got a satellite dish TV receiver a few years ago. One of the things I wonder about is whether the company can tell what I am watching. It's no big deal to me if they can (not unless you condider the Amimal Planet Channel or Fox News to be pornopgrahic, which I suppose some might). It does not seem possible that they can know. But there are some features about it that make me wonder. In some ways, I hope they can tell.
