The rise of domestic Chinese consumer brands to challenge their famous foreign counterparts has become a defining trend in China’s industrial development. Anyone doubting this need only take a stroll down one of the main streets in Jinjiang, a small city in the southeastern province of Fujian.----The names may sound unfamiliar, even outlandish. But the reality is that in a reversal of the natural order of things, the little fish are starting to eat the big fish. The Chinese companies to which western brand holders outsourced their manufacturing a decade or more ago are now successfully rolling out their own...

Putin asks to call Russia and talks for 5 minutes. When he was finished the devil informs him that the cost is a million dollars, so Putin writes him a check. Next Queen Elizabeth calls England and talks for 30 minutes. When she was finished the devil informs her that cost is 6 million dollars, so Queen Elizabeth writes him a check....

A couple attending an art exhibition at the National Gallery was staring at a portrait that had them completely confused. The painting depicted three very black and totally naked men sitting on a park bench. Two of the figures had black weenies, but the one in the middle had a pink weenie. The curator of the gallery realized that they were having trouble interpreting the painting and offered his assessment. He went on for nearly half an hour explaining how it depicted the sexual emasculation of African-Americans in a predominately white, patriarchal society. 'In fact,' he pointed out, 'some serious...

Simply said, I will be watching this POTUS election from over here, Taiwan, with great concern for my country - The USA. I have stocked up on adult beverages and plan to fully numb whatever pain occurs. Yes, there will be a 'morning after."(I detest that syrupy song)But it going to be a long hard night until then.I shall pray sincerely for the USA, our Forces at war and for the continued progress of the American Dream.God Bless All and may God Bless America. Demonised in the West as goons guarding the Olympic torch along its chaotic world tour, these pictures show how China's paramilitary police learn their unwavering discipline. Officers of the People Paramilitary Police preparing for the Olympics are drilled on the parade ground with pins in their collars and crosses on their backs to ensure perfect posture. But instead of the blue tracksuits members wore while escorting the flame, they are kitted out in full dress uniform during the exercise at their base in Shenyang, Liaoning province.

Minister of National Defense Lee Tien-yu (李天羽) said yesterday the military needs to review its current mechanism for handling confidential documents in order to plug information leaks. Lee made the remarks after the Apple Daily reported that an orderly in Chief of General Staff Hou Shou-yeh's office had not rigorously followed the standard procedures of destroying shredded confidential documents and had instead sold them to a private recycling operator for profit. A reporter for the local daily was able to buy two bags of the shredded confidential papers for NT$40 and to piece them together to obtain information concerning the...

An opposition lawmaker said Taiwan's espionage operations have faltered in mainland China, with the island having difficulty recruiting new Chinese spies while losing many former agents. Lin Yu-fang (林郁方) of the Kuomintang said in a statement issued Monday night that one of the reasons fewer spies are working for Taiwan in China was President Chen Shui-bian's (陳水扁) failure to keep some of the intelligence gathered by the spies confidential. During an election campaign in 2003, Chen made public the number of missiles China had against Taiwan and also mentioned the sites where the missiles were deployed, disclosures that alarmed many...
