There is little doubt in my mind that the NAACP believes what they say. They believe you can accuse another of being a racist, and not expose you own racism.
The ends justify the means. That is their belief.

Its really simple when you think about it:
The NAACP is a Redistributionist organization in a narrow sense. They believe the White peoples money should be distributed to the Black population. Therefore if you are not Redistributionist you are RACIST!
Any talk about restraining taxes, spending, entitlements threatens their vision of redistribution, retaliation and ‘social justice’.

Senator Daschle, Please stop undermining President Bush's efforts to fight our enemies!
I can understand your parisanship regarding some of President Bush's policies and proposals, although I don't agree with you. I understand your need to drive down President Bush's popularity with the attempt to scandalize President Bush with Enron, etc. I understand your passionate need to withold tax breaks and economic stimulus to try to cap the recovery of the economy in an attempt to give President Bush a sluggish economy going into the fall election cycle. I understand these things and these points make it clear that you are willing to put your personal gain and that of your party ahead of the countrys good, but with the position you've taken as quoted in the AP article above, you've gone much too far. Mr. Daschle, you are undermining the safety and security of the Nation!
Mr. Daschle, do you remember the scene in "The Godfather" where Sonny makes a comment during a meeting with another gang that undermines The Godfather's authority and position? Not that I would compare you or President Bush to the Mafia, but the illustration makes a point. Public bickering and undermining of the leader the world looks to for guidance in this time of war shows weakness in our unity and resolve. Mr. Daschle, Ive watched you try to undermine President Bush in many ways beginning with your idiotic attempts in Florida with Mr.Gephardt to justify the Gore campaigns attempt to circumvent Florida's election laws right up to the blocking of the stimulus iniatives with an unconstitutional 60 vote requirement for a vote. The first is any religious group where the leadership has an unhealthy psychological control over its members is a cult. The second is any group that claims to be the newest, purist, truest, best version of a religion, while denying one or more essential teachings is a cult. RIGHT!

The Taliban are an example of both the above definitons. That still does not excuse Lindh. He made bad decisions, took teasonous actions and must be punished.

Steve Hassan is a brilliant dissecter of cults both old and new, he has a real understanding of how these people enslave the minds of the weak and easily led.. You guys can feel free to keep up the ignorance pageant, however, it's entertaining.

This is where we go wrong. I understand Hassan's point regarding the mind-control of the cults and that the Taliban movement uses these techniques very well.
However, Lindh still must be held accountable for his actions.
First, he voluntarily placed himself in the mind-controlled situation with no coercion. He became a Moslem, he traveled to Pakistan, and he joined and pledged allegiance to the Taliban. Nobody made him do it, just as no one made Hassan join the Moonies.
Second, while in the Taliban, Lindh took up arms against the US and fought against the US and our allies. While an argument could be made, as in the case of a mentally ill defense, that he was not capable of making a rational decision at the time, Lindh must be held accountable both personally and as an example for other potential traitors. Because that is what he is, a traitor.
His bad decisions and immaturity are not a reason to overlook his actions. Those are reasons to punish him.

None in my direct family have any more than a superficial understanding of the election debacle and none even care to know what went on. The dangerous point is, they still have an opinion. An opinion based on a woefully limited and badly mis-understood set of 'facts'.
