SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A University of New Mexico football player who was arrested after wearing saggy pants on a plane at San Francisco airport insists in a video showing part of his exchange with authorities on the aircraft that his pants were up and he had done nothing wrong.

The San Francisco Chronicle obtained the video and a link to it was on the newspaper's website Saturday.

If he wishes to wear his pants like a little punk thug-in-training, it’s a free country and he can do it. What’s the problem?

I knew it. It's those Amish with their funny old-fashioned baggy clothes again.

Was talking to a guy recently who came to this country from Dubai when he was thirteen.

First day at school he wore a white shirt, tie and slacks.

Came home and asked his dad if he could borrow some of his clothes for the next day because that's what the other kids were wearing.

I moved to New Mexico from Indiana, attended Purdue, let me tell you, the program Mike Oxley (sp) runs at UNM is a disgrace for even a high school.

The coaches fight amongst themselves, they go on tv and act as if they are one game away.

This place is one decade away from respectability and this kid is just a pimple on the behind of what is going on.

See how there's a VIDEO now, and the official management story begins to change.

Earlier the complaint was he was told by the folks ON the plane to pull up his pants. Now it's turned to having been told by someone AT the jetway, with another employee, also not on the plane being directed to pull his pants up if he won't.

Now what is that?

Somebody else is speaking for the pilot and telling us what the pilot was thinking ~ yet, the pilot wasn't involved in the original confrontation at the jetway, or upon entering the jetway.

I am sure that before this is over the "confrontation" will prove to have started where it should have ~ in the passenger boarding area, and it's only after the guy got seated that the plane's crew got involved. It's highly unlikely that any of them get a good luck at your butt as you go on board ~ it's crowded, you got bags, old men suck in their gut to lift a bag and their pants fall off ~ ain't nothin' new on an airplane.

Plus, pilots have other things to do ~ like get ready to fly the plane.

Someone really didn't like this guy's britches ~ or, perhaps, we have a case where a knowledgeable professional gambler knew how to change the odds on this Fall's football games.

It's entirely possible that what we see and what we hear have nothing at all to do with the real story.

In the end the airline is a private business and they can set rules or refuse service. I for one appreciate some civil rules and like that the airline didn’t back down.

What's the problem with a business having a dress code on their property?

We've all been on planes. They want you to trundle all your baggage along to the passenger cabin ~ and people deal crack every flight ~ particularly the midgets who have to stand on tippy toes to push those bags up there.

The AIRLINES DON'T CARE!

The airline needs to publish their rules AND arrange the interior of the cabin so that no one needs to push baggage up into overhead racks.

You cannot avoid seeing bare butts on almost every flight.

I posted on another forum that I had seen a guy walking down the street with his pants at mid-thigh level. As he walked, his boxer fly was gaping open, exposing himself.

When someone questioned why I had a problem with such a "style", I asked if his opinion would be the same if his wife/girlfriend/daughter/mother were seated next to him. He hasn't responded.
