Not a flame, just a thought. If McCain-Feingold prohibits coordination between independent 527 organizations, like Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth, and candidates and campaigns, then how can John Kerry expect President Bush to ask that the Swift Vets stop running their ads? If President Bush affects a 527 organizations's activity in any way, isn't that "coordination?" Doesn't CFR, as things currently stand, legally prohibit President Bush from doing anything but stand on the sidelines, with regard to the Swift Vets?

On Tuesday the federal authorities struck another serious blow against the toleration of Islamist terrorist activities on American soil, by arresting five former leaders of the so-called Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, which, as I have previously argued, would be better called the Holy War Foundation. HLF is, after all, a front for the Palestinian suicide terror gang Hamas, which is mainly funded by Saudi Arabia. < -snip- > HLF long functioned as the nerve center of the “Wahhabi lobby” in the U.S., headquartered in Texas, with branch offices in Paterson, N.J., Bridgeview, Ill., and San Diego. Established...

The candidate Bush meets with Muslim leaders in Austin, Texas. Abdurahman Alamoudi (right of Bush) heads the sister organization of terror connected IIRO. A CIA report from 1996, obtained by investigators for the lawyer suing a number of Islamic charities on behalf of victims of the 9/11 attacks, reveals that the U.S. government knew that over one-third of the Islamic charities operating throughout the world were aiding known terrorist groups. Many of the charities detailed in the report are Saudi-sponsored and official Saudi government charities are implicated in supporting terrorism. These charities include the International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO)...

With the discovery of yet more sarin and mustard gas shells in Iraq by Polish coalition forces (which may date back to the Iran-Iraq War of the 1980s) the expected refrain from the left is already heard: "But those are OLD WMDs." Sure they are (and nevermind that these weapons still have the capacity to kill thousands), but their age is not a mitigating refuge for those who opposed and still oppose the most recent Iraq War. In fact, the discovery of older WMDs in Iraq completely undermines opposition to the war. Why? Because the older the WMD shells, the...

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Aided by House Speaker Dennis Hastert, insurance companies successfully have blocked legislation to make them provide equal coverage for mental and physical illnesses if their policies include both. President Bush endorsed the concept two years ago. Today, supporters of the bill are willing to settle for a scaled-back version they hope Congress will pass in 2004. < -snip- > The bill would expand a 1996 law prohibiting health plans that offer mental health coverage from setting lower annual and lifetime spending limits for mental treatments than for physical ailments. The proposed legislation also would require equal treatment...

Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack ... This familiar line from the baseball anthem "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" doesn't have the same happy meaning for Timothy Haverkamp that it does for most fans. Timothy, a first-grader from Ada Elementary, is allergic to peanuts. "He was allergic to everything when he was little. His brother is allergic to peanuts, too," Jane Haverkamp, Timothy's mother, said. "He never had a life-threatening emergency with peanuts, but we don't keep any at home." Timothy attended Wednesday's West Michigan Whitecaps game without fear of an attack. The team hosted its second...

I heard this on the John and Ken Show while waiting for President Reagan's motorcade. This is the church where President and Mrs. Reagan were married, 4418 Coldwater Canyon Blvd., North Hollywood. Not sure of any more details than that, sorry.

To the West In America’s vast heart an ember’s kept And sometimes we may slumber to its burning. Yet times have come to wake for what has slept, To remember myths and truths... and souls returning. In Washington’s moist skies of mourning grey Salutes have thundered to a good report-- As clouds have wept for him who’s passed away-- For good endures, though all our time is short. All Presidents, Prime Ministers, and Princes May hold their reigns awhile, but all will bend To Providence, Who will seek evidences, That each was just, and humble in the end. Now...

Despite the best efforts of Dennis Prager, none of the Supervisors who voted to capitulate to the ACLU last week, Gloria Molina, Yvonne B. Burke, and Zev Yaroslavsky, would change their votes and contest the ACLU's threatened lawsuit to have the Cross on our County Seal removed. More than a thousand Latino, Black, and Caucasian protesters were outside this morning in at the Supervisors' building in downtown Los Angeles, as more citizens filled the halls inside. No one from the ACLU spoke on behalf of the removal of the Cross, nor did anyone else but one "Native Peaoples" activist...

I just got back from the Reagan Library a couple of hours ago, to pay final respects to President Reagan. The scene is crowded, but orderly. I went with my daughter, and our wait in line was a couple of hours for the shuttle from Moorpark Junior College. The line looked to be twice as long when we got back, snaking down the back lawn of the campus Quite a few folks brought kids, which I think is a great thing. Not only was President Reagan immensely fond of children, his memorial will forever be a touchstone in their lives....

The death of President Reagan yesterday has left many of us feeling an understandable surge of emotions. As we recall his life, let's remember that the Ronald Reagan was President of all Americans, whatever their political stripe, and that he certainly saw himself that way. As gracious and optimistic as he was, President Reagan would not have allowed petty politics to color his impressions of opponents from the other side of the aisle who offered heartfelt words and condolences at a time of solemnity and grief such as this. Alzheimer's is a tragic disease that affects liberals and conservatives without...

Senator John F. Kerry said through a spokesman this week that he has no recollection of attending a November 1971 meeting of Vietnam Veterans Against the War at which some activists discussed a plot to kill some US senators who backed the war.

Gerald Nicosia sits in the dining room of his Corte Madera home from where he says FBI documents were stolen. Alan Dep photo Police say they have no clue who stole documents - detailing the FBI's surveillance of Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry during the 1970's - from the home of Gerald Nicosia, a Corte Madera author. Last week, the Los Angeles Times broke the story that Kerry, a decorated Vietnam War veteran, had been closely monitored by FBI agents for more than a year due to his work with the Vietnam Veterans Against the War. Times reporter John...

No Shades of GrayBy JOE SABIA Last week's "Democratic Unity Dinner" produced multiple political orgasms, most of which came from Bill Clinton. Speakers at the fundraiser appeared convinced that recent blips in the polls mean they are mere months away from resuming all-night pizza parties and orgies in the Oval Office. But times have changed and Americans are no longer looking for an antiwar gigolo to serve as their president. National defense will be the central issue of the 2004 campaign, thus dooming the Democrats' chance of recapturing the White House. In recent weeks, the Bush re-election team has...

It is ironic that John F. Kerry calls President Bush’s foreign policy arrogant. Kerry is the image of arrogance, too rich and important to answer to the voters. He is more concerned with world opinion than the concerns of America. Kerry has stated, '''I've met foreign leaders who can't go out and say this publicly, but boy they look at you and say, 'You've got to win this, you've got to beat this guy, we need a new policy,' things like that.'' Kerry’s response to an American voter who asked him to explain his statement was, ''That's not your business,...

Why do the major dailies continue to spike the story of John Kerry's role in the Nov. 12-15, 1971, "assassination summit" in Kansas City at which Kerry participated in the secret discussion and vote by the executive board of Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW) on whether to murder seven U.S. senators and other leaders who continued to resist New Left demands that Vietnam be turned over to the Viet Cong? Tom Lipscomb, founding editor of (New York) Times Books, has nailed it all down in the New York Sun with an FBI surveillance report and six eyewitnesses, of...
