Obama and his fellow redistributors of wealth refuse to own up to a tax increase that will hit more than the wealthy. Democrats call this increase letting the ‘Bush tax cuts for the wealthy’ expire. Fact is those Bush tax cuts didn’t just help the wealthy. One of those tax cuts helped anyone who is married, and we are about to get gouged by the Democrats’ other tax increase which is a refusal to renew those same tax cuts.

As South Korea upgraded its armed forces over the last two decades, it has had to dispose of a lot of old equipment. But then it discovered that it had put into storage 108,000 World War II era rifles it had received from the United States during the 1950s.

The Obama Administration has placed a large premium on what it calls “national service.” It has launched a website, www.Serve.gov, that is reported to act as a clearing house for Americans eager to “give back” to their communities. Unfortunately, Americans looking for an opportunity to volunteer may get something they weren’t expecting. By typing “ACORN” into the search field entitled “What interests you” at Serve.gov, you’re transported to allforgood.org where you can choose from a list of volunteer opportunities, including “healthcare activist.” This particular “volunteer” opportunity is with the Tuscon ACORN office:

The Secret Service and the D.C. police brought in three dozen vehicles and shut down H Street, Vermont Avenue, two lanes of I Street and an entrance to the McPherson Square Metro station. They swept the area, in front of the Department of Veterans Affairs, with bomb-sniffing dogs and installed magnetometers in the middle of the street, put up barricades to keep pedestrians out, and took positions with binoculars atop trucks. Though the produce stand was only a block or so from the White House, the first lady hopped into her armored limousine and pulled into the market amid the...

Last week, Syria test fired two Scud type ballistic missiles. The guidance systems on both of them were not working properly. One of the missiles landed in the market place of a village near the Turkish border, killing twenty people and injuring at least sixty. At first, the government said it was a natural gas explosion, but the truth soon came out (it's kind of hard to hide the missile debris, and a Scud impact is quite different from a natural gas explosion.)

In early March, UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon called the U.S. a “deadbeat” donor, saying the UN’s largest donor, supplying 22 percent of the $4.86 billion operating budget, is $1 billion in arrears. ------ It's time to downsize a money-eater The UN operates a lavish headquarters in New York and offices in several other cities around the world. Taking a look at the 2008-2009 budget for “administrative, financial and institutional matters,” it is very easy to see why President Barack Obama and Ban Ki-moon are kindred spirits. Staff costs alone for the UN total approximately $36 million.

As though the business sector needed another reason to wring hands all ‘round, President Barack Obama’s tax assault on the “rich” is just another nail in the coffin for an already overtaxed upper middle class. Obama not only has the wrong idea on who is really "rich," he's clueless at the raw deal the real taxpayers are already getting. As I pointed out in a recent column, some income groups the president defines as rich already do more than their share when it comes to paying the federal money mongers. I wrote: “Once your adjusted gross income reaches $100,000, your...

Darcell Streeter, project co-chair, emceed the program. Streeter welcomed dignitaries like Jacksonville Sheriff John Rutherford, Florida State Rep. Jennifer Carroll (Dist.13), Alci Maldonado, Chair of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly and others. Streeter said, “This is not just the opening.” She said the headquarters represents...

It’s a small comfort that someone in the federal government decided to create a website to provide information about where all that stimulus aka recovery money will go. The site Recovery.gov loads quickly and has a user-friendly navigation bar. The site is attractively designed. And that’s the sum of the good stuff. Because the content on the site is sorely lacking in terms of explaining exactly how much funding is going where. What does the site tell us about where our taxpayer money will go?

Intel on Thursday showed off a wireless electric power system that analysts say could revolutionize modern life by freeing devices from transformers and wall outlets. Electricity was sent wirelessly to a lamp on stage, lighting a 60 watt bulb that uses more power than a typical laptop computer. Most importantly, the electricity was transmitted without zapping anything or anyone that got between the sending and receiving units. "The trick with wireless power is not can you do it; it's can you do it safely and efficiently," Intel researcher Josh Smith said in an online video explaining the breakthrough. "It turns...

Last week it emerged that after getting his much-coveted wings William flew a Chinook to London and landed at Woolwich, where he picked up his brother and fellow army officer Harry. They then flew to the Isle of Wight where their cousin Peter Phillips, the son of Princess Anne, was enjoying a weekend-long stag party. The flight enabled them to spend an extra five hours touring the pubs of Cowes where at one point rowdy revellers pulled down William's trousers. Eyewitness also claimed the two princes dared girls in one pub to bare their breasts and partied into the early...

Barack Obama was able to take the focus off of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright on Friday by picking up the endorsement of (a bearded) Bill Richardson. Obama's allies are hoping the focus will stay off of Wright this Easter Sunday when the Democratic frontrunner skips services at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago and heads on vacation. Story Richardson Backs Obama, Rebuffs ClintonPer ABC News' Sunlen Miller, sources familiar with Obama's plans say the Illinois Democrat is expected to go on a tropical vacation with the most likely bet appearing to be St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands....

A 64-year-old Bradenton man who fired a shotgun to quiet his complaining wife while they were watching a football game was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in prison. Authorities said David A. Huffman got mad last November because his wife would not be quiet during a TV football game. Huffman, a California native, walked out of the room and returned holding a shotgun pointed at his wife's face. San Diego and Denver were involved in a nail-biter that night, according to NFL.com records. Authorities say Huffman's wife, Kathryn, grabbed the gun, which fired once but did not hit anyone. Huffman's...

U.S.-led forces conducting a crackdown on al-Qaida in Iraq killed a senior member of an insurgent group who was responsible for the high-profile kidnappings of several Westerners, a military spokesman said Thursday. Maj. Gen. William Caldwell said the killing of Muharib Abdul-Latif al-Jubouri, described as al-Qaida's information minister, had apparently led to confused reports that its top leader or the head of an umbrella group of insurgents had been killed. Caldwell said the U.S. does not have the bodies of Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, the head of the Islamic State of Iraq, or Abu Ayyub al-Masri, the leader of al-Qaida in...

Dairy economists predict the retail price of milk could rise as much as 30 cents per gallon — a 9 percent jump — by fall. The reasons include rising fuel and feed costs for farmers and increasing demand for milk products around the globe. Costs have surged for fuel and petroleum-based products and for the corn used to feed dairy cows, a side effect of increases in the production of ethanol.

"Even though I honestly had not planned on doing this, I guess with a billion people watching, it's as good as time as any. So, my fellow Americans, I'm going to take this opportunity right here and now to formally announce my intention..." But suddenly the Oscars orchestra struck up its keynote tune, signalling that Gore and DiCaprio had overstayed their time and had to leave the stage
