Not just anyone would be willing to share a story like this. Since I'm me, I will. Do not attempt to give a cat a pill. The vet will tell you it's a simple procedure. Comfort said kitty, gently open her mouth, pop in the pill, and stroke her throat so she'll swallow the medicine. He might even suggest you tightly wrap her in a towel, so as to protect yourself, although he will use no protection at all. Here's what will really happen. You'll comfort the kitty. "Sweet, Cutie! This medicine is going to help you feel better!" You'll...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJfUSTmABK4 Reporter: So you're saying you definitely wouldn't run in 2012 or you leave that possibility open? West: I'm just saying that that's not even a consideration for me. I know that there's a lot of buzz out there about that but, you know, that's not coming from my mouth."

When her pregnant niece Kim Tennyson started nesting, Nadine Rogers joked that the baby was going to show up in the wee hours. "She was cleaning house and washing and running the vacuum," Rogers told AOL News. Tennyson had reported to the hospital more than once in recent days with contractions. Each time, she was told her surges were of the Braxton Hicks (pre-labor) variety. "I told her, 'You watch, that baby's going to hit you at 2 in the morning,'" said Rogers, who, although she is Tennyson's aunt, has been called "Grandma" since Tennyson's mother left her at 9...

Hundreds of Elm Grove Middle School students gathered Monday afternoon in the school gymnasium for what they thought was a meeting with their new school counselor. They quickly learned that wasn't the case. Instead, the entire school gathered to honor a classmate who's battling cancer. 13 year old Odie Harris who was diagnosed with liver cancer seven months ago and has been making regular visits to St Jude. His dream is to become a marine. Today that dream became a reality. Members of the Bossier Sheriff's Department teamed with the Make A Wish Foundation to make Odie a member of...

While everyone is preparing to give thanks tomorrow, one of America's most famous families, the Jolie-Pitts, have decided to sit this Thanksgiving out. "Angelina Jolie hates this holiday and wants no part in rewriting history like so many other Americans," a friend of the actress tells me. "To celebrate what the white settlers did to the native Indians, the domination of one culture over another, just isn't her style. She definitely doesn't want to teach her multi-cultural family how to celebrate a story of murder." Angelina has been filming her directorial debut, about a Serbian man and Bosnian woman who...

A San Diego police officer was among three people dead in a shootout that sent dozens of residents in their pajamas running from their homes early Thursday. Officer Christopher Wilson was fatally shot in the confrontation that began Wednesday night, when San Diego County officers and U.S. marshals went to check on a man on probation and serve an arrest warrant on another. After the man on probation slammed the door in their faces, officers pushed their way into the apartment and arrested him, said Assistant Police Chief Jim Collins. Four other people ran into a back bedroom, including the...

In response to a flood of Facebook and YouTube videos that depict police abuse, a new trend in law enforcement is gaining popularity. In at least three states, it is now illegal to record any on-duty police officer. Even if the encounter involves you and may be necessary to your defense, and even if the recording is on a public street where no expectation of privacy exists. The legal justification for arresting the "shooter" rests on existing wiretapping or eavesdropping laws, with statutes against obstructing law enforcement sometimes cited. Illinois, Massachusetts, and Maryland are among the 12 states in which...

Thousands of people holding American flags rallied outside First Baptist church in Minden on Saturday to commemorate their local hero Sergeant Joshua Tomlinson and show respect to his family and friends. People gathered along Broadway Street in Minden to show their support for the soldier that was killed serving his country. Tomlinson was laid to rest today after his funeral that took place at 2 PM. The radical anti-government group from Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas did not show up to the funeral as they had previously intended. Many patriotic people showed up to counter-protest in the event the group...

The new Hudson High School cafeteria looks more like a college student center with its open seating arrangement, four flat-screen HD televisions mounted on the wall and the sound of music playing over the speakers. Hudson Independent School District, along with the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce, cut the ribbon on the new facility Thursday morning and then welcomed members of the student council to take a look around. Students immediately looked at home in their new surroundings. “We wanted to take the institutionalized look out,” said Julie Wood, director of food services at Hudson ISD. Giant windows bring in...

Immigration authorities are asking a court to let them sedate an Albanian restaurant owner before putting him on an airplane for deportation because they believe he will again fight attempts to remove him. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement asked a federal judge to give them permission to medicate Rrustem Neza of Lufkin, a 32-year-old asylum seeker agents couldn't deport in August because he was terrified and did not calm down. A physician from the U.S. Public Health Service would administer the sedative and a medical worker would accompany Neza during the flight. "Unless this Court enjoins Neza from any further...

The employees at Anel's Hair Salon, a shop that caters to many Hispanics, hoped what they were hearing were rumors. But they now know their friends and clients are facing a very real change. Hair stylist Antonia Garcia said, " They said they were receiving notices they were getting called to the office and even told they had 8 days, a week to find another job or to prove their citizenship. Hilaria Rosales, a legal secretary for an immigration attorney is seeing an increase of clients concerned about their future. " What we've provided is a letter stating we're handling...

Rita sends rural Texans back to 'caveman days' By PAM EASTON Associated Press Writer WOODVILLE, Texas — Five days after Hurricane Rita came ashore, some East Texans took baths and brushed their teeth using water from the Neches River while others affected by the storm waited in line for federal assistance and gas. Crumpled tin roofs and canopies in Woodville's town square still littered parking lots Wednesday. Downed power lines and trees were in people's yards and lined nearly every road. Many people were still without power or water. "We went from normal life back to caveman days in a...

I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I don't think I've ever started a thread before. Anyway, we live in the East Texas area and while we welcome Hurricane Katrina evacuees, I'd be lying if I said I'm not concerned about the impact this will have on the local economy, not to mention how this disaster will impact the entire nation. I would sincerely appreciate input from y'all as to how you are preparing for things. We have enough extra food to last about 2 weeks if things were to get nuts. If you were in this area...

O.J. Simpson Reality Show Planned .c The Associated Press MIAMI (AP) - O.J. Simpson could become the star of a new reality television show that would be centered around snippets of his appearances at hip-hop concerts. But his lawyer says there's one problem: Simpson hasn't been approached by the companies that are planning to create the show. ``He's not in a show,'' Simpson's attorney Yale Galander said Wednesday. ``They can't have a reality TV show and call it the OJ Simpson TV show without our involvement.'' Urban Television Network Corporation, a Fort Worth-based satellite and cable channel, and Miami production...

I don't post very often, so I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong place. I play games at Shockwave.com sometimes and was disgusted to see an Anti-Bush greeting card/game featured on the front page of the site. It's not only Anti-Bush, it's Pro-Gore. Disgusting!

This is my first vanity post, so I hope you'll bear with me. I am trying to find a current list of email address for all of congress. Actually, I'd like to use one of the sites that allows you to email them all at once. I've searched the Web and FR, but I couldn't find a list that mentioned when it was last updated. Thanks in advance.
