I'm glad everyone is finally back on topic.

I'll be honest. OF COURSE I SUPPORTED BUSH WHEN HE WAS RUNNING! I mean, you have two choices: Gore, or Bush. The choice was obvious: Bush. Its like the "Will you vote for Hillary?" thread.

But yes, I'm dissappointed. Maybe you don't realize this, but if we don't do something about the Clintons and Reno, they will run for office, and they will win. I've said it before, and I will continue to say this until it happens, or I am proved wrong... at which I will probably apologize profusely. I will continue to hope for Bush to do some good for us... but my hope is running out. At least, whether I support him or not, I will never stop holding him accountable... being the most powerful man in America, we need to hold him to the highest standard possible, not just sit back and let him do as he pleases.

I'm fed up with Bush trying to keep the public favor... If he wants my approval, he should start being a tough conservative, and getting all the things we conservatives want... and I quote... I want the EPA gone. I want the US out of the UN, and vice versa. I want the Constitution strictly upheld and the "shall not be infringed" part of the 2nd amendment ahered to. I want Clinton et al invetigated properly and charged for treason and murder. I want the US to start bombing IRAQ, and any other country involved. That's just a start.... 74 posted on 1/4/02 12:15 PM Pacific by goodieD

Ashcroft likes being favored among his religious contemporaries, don't ya think? In fact, Ashcroft pointedly insisted that prayers not mention Jesus, in order to be inclusive of all the religions in the office. Who is he more concerned about pleasing? Jesus, or the jews in his office?

I see it this way... they're all in it together. And I can promise you this... when Hitlery runs in 2004, or 2008... she will run, soon... she will be elected. She has so much support in young people, and women, and the like... and Bush is using the war now to get his legacy, and he won't touch the Clintons, or Reno, because their turn is coming up soon. And for the 4 or 8 years he is in office... we won't get significant tax cuts, we will still be in the UN, we will still be fighting environmental extremists, we won't get any gun rights back (might still lose a few), etc. etc.
If all he cares about is if he can win another term, why should I care who is President?
Isn't that what we said about Clinton?

I live in Florida... I don't even want to see Reno run.

    Post 83 "...Jose Miguel..."

I am sorry, TETT, but you made your lack of knowledge on the subject of Elian obvious from the beginning. If you only understood what life in Cuba is like, and if you only knew that anyone such as Juan Miguel would never be allowed to come to America, unless he was under the control of the Cuban government, then you would see that this was more than just a parental rights case. But the problem is not your lack of knowledge of the situation. It's your ideals.

TETT, you are pro-choice. Whether in abortion, or custody, or habitat, you are pro-choice. We know that now. Everyone else on this thread, is pro-life/liberty/pursuit of happiness. You figure that if someone else wants to kill their son, then that is their choice, and it should happen. But you know what? If that child were to come back to life, screaming in their own pool of blood, then they would renounce all their murderers... their parents, the courts, the abortion clinic... all of them. They would wish the choice was never allowed to be made. And likewise, if Elian ever came back to America, he would renounce everyone who sent him over... the courts, the INS agents, the stormtroopers, the pilot, the voodoo people, the crazy people, the Clinton administration, the little statue of Eleggua, maybe even his father. Because life in Cuba sucks. And being drugged sucks. And having a high-powered rifle thrust in your face, that sucks too. So does social indoctrination, plantation life, and growing up knowing that for a little while, you were free, but no longer.

p.s. Elian wasn't being held hostage by crazy people in Miami. He was with his family. His cousin, his uncle, family. There wasn't anything wrong with that.

    How about this...

how about all of us keep ourselves from getting caught up in fervor, and rather than sit around and enjoy what few freedoms have been left to us, lets continue fighting for the ones we lose day after day. Isn't that what we are here to do?

    thanks zip.

    here's another one worth repeating:

Why do you have to go up a mountian, to the scratch posts, pull the hair out of a envelope, put the false lynx hair on it, take it off the post, put in in another envelope, go back down the mountian, and submit the "sample"? Wouldn't it make more sense to just hand in various envelopes, false and positive, and compare the lab results with what you know? The behaviour of these guys is like someone caught in a prostitution sting who says they were doing "research". Yeah, right.

I don't care too much for the article... I think the pastor hit a few good chords, and missed a few as well. I think people need to stop trying to answer this question... just understand that this is the world we live in now. God already provided a way out... His son. We can accept Him, or keep complaining.

A few weeks ago some visitors came to our bible club. I didn't agree with everything they said, but they opened my eyes a bit on the September 11 attacks. One of the guys talked about how God would humble the Israelites with the Moabites, who were a small nation. When the Israelites would turn away from God, God would stop protecting them, and sure enough, the Moabites would defeat them and plunder and so on. He said that this is similar... America has turned away from God so much, and now, well, look at it... a little nation is humbling us. I don't necessarily agree with this concept, but its a way of looking at it. It makes sense.

What angers me is how when evil acts occur, we immediately begin to question God. We blame him. We never put the blame on those who commited the acts. Why do people do this? We expect so much of God, yet we blame him for all the bad things, and we never thank him for his blessings. Blame the attackers, and let's move on.

Let me repeat the question: Why do we allow evil?

What bothers me is that the nation has been propelled into a wild goose chase for one bearded camel-like man that will inevitably last for too long and will have the duped cheering and sighing the whole way through. Our funds will trickle into the military... our men and women will fight overseas... and the nation will continue in this quasi-war state, while people run around in their trendy patriotic fashions, blessing the president and the "fight for freedom". If the government was serious about fighting terrorism, Osama would have been paste on the cave wall months ago, and all the organizations would be gone already. But this fight will never end... big brother has made their "Emmanuel Goldstein", and the proletariat is none the wiser.

Here follows the trend of taking someone who was good for one thing, and idolizing them, as if they were a god. Just because Ali could box, now it means that he was mr. wonderful, an admirable soul, a role model for all young men. It makes no sense. I certainly won't waste $5 on a ticket for this movie.

I think that linked article from the Seattle Times is just an attempt to save-face for the scientists... this has obviously gotten too mixed up to make sense of.

Which makes it glaringly apparent that environmental scientists and organizations will never be known for following credible science. With messes & scandals like this one, it is obvious that you can never trust anything they say.
