While riding my motorcycle near Lake Winnipesaukee in Meredith, New Hampshire the other day, I passed an arcade center named Funspot. It is a very large enclosed building with arcade games, bowling, mini-golf and other games. The electronic sign out front advertised the games, upcoming events, etc. The following message flashed for a brief time: ATLAS HAS SHRUGGED immediately followed by: WHO IS JOHN GALT?? A web search indicated it has been doing that occasionally for quite some time, but it's the first time I've seen it. Note: The link is for the Funspot web page only.

For the fourth consecutive year, New Hampshire was named the nation’s Most Livable State by Morgan Quitno Press, which determined its 17th annual award from its just released reference book "State Rankings 2007." At the other end of the spectrum, statistics returned Mississippi at the bottom of the scale for the ninth time in the past 10 years. Louisiana, which ranked No. 50 last year, is No. 49. “ New Hampshire does an outstanding job in a number of quality of life areas,” said Scott Morgan, president of Morgan Quitno Press. “The state has the lowest crime and poverty rates...

Vermin ‘Love’ Supreme does not sound like a conventional name, especially a name that would be running for President of the United States of America, but one man, with that exact name wearing strikingly original costumes, is challenging citizens and politicians on the streets of the free world through a bullhorn. Vermin Supreme drops his legal middle name ‘love’ around election time but he still expresses the same message he has been for his 20 years of campaigning throughout the United States...

Twelve speakers. Two police officers. Fifty-eight protesters. One arrest. How did Tuesday night's "Conservative Coming Out Day" event go? "As expected," said event organizer Lauren Daigle. Hosted by the UNH College Republicans, the event held in the MUB's Granite State Room invited UNH students to hear speakers espouse their political views in the context of "coming out" as Republicans -- a term that kindled controversy, but according to College Republicans President Lauren Daigle, was not meant to offend. "We're not in any way trying to demean what the gay community is doing with their coming out day," said Daigle before...

UNH petition targets teacherBy Beth LaMontagne blamontagne@seacoastonline.com DURHAM -- Although the University of New Hampshire administration said it stands by Professor William Woodward and his right to share controversial views about the government's role in 9/11, a small group of students have started a petition to remove him. Bill Hunt, a UNH junior, is chairman of the newly formed and unrecognized organization Students for Academic Integrity. "Basically, we watch professors to just ensure they're doing their job ... they're not biased in the classroom and are not teaching what they are not supposed to teach," said Hunt...

Check out the link for the funniest Ebay auction in recent memory. An Australian fellow posted 5 pieces of deprimed 303 brass with a stripper clip and obviously had a bit of trouble with Ebay He seems to have gone off the deep end in a very amusing way. Ebay's fear of all things to do with guns has brought us this great bit of comedy.

Did anyone else watch Sean Hannity roast RFK, Jr. about SUV's tonight? He got RFK to agree that people who drove SUV's were unamerican because they wasted fuel unnecessarily. Then he got RFK to admit that he drove a mini-van and frequently used private jets. Very funny.

About an hour ago on CSPAN, Tom Daschle, sitting behind a desk with a microphone, said that the Republicans had held up the Homeland Security legislation for political reasons. Isn't this exactly what he was shouting "Outrageous! Outrageous!" about when Bush charged the Democrats with the same thing?
